The AIBA Makes New Rule Allowing Professional Boxers To Compete At The Olympics

The AIBA has issued a ruling allowing professional boxers to compete at the Olympics. A number of high profile boxers are against the decision, labeling it dangerous, while a few pugilists, such as Manny Pacquiao and Wladimir Klitschko  are in favor of it. Professional boxers have a huge advantage over amateur boxers. As stated in the column previously, when you look at the videos of a boxer during his amateur days, compared to his professional career, about 20 fights in, you will see a significant difference and improvement.

Boxer Amir Khan who was born, raised and lives in Britain, wants to fight for his father's native Pakistan at the Olympics. The Pakistani Olympic committee is excited about the news. However, as some have pointed out, Khan may not be eligible. Years prior, Khan's brother, Haroon, fought for Britain at the Olympics and later tried to represent Pakistan. He was declined due to Olympic rules. Britain has done a lot for Khan. No disrespect to Pakistan, but if he is to go to the Olympics, Khan should fight for Britain. 

Britain currently has 13 world champions and would have a massive advantage if they sent their professional pugilists to the Rio Olympics in Brazil. However, based on a statement online, the British Olympic committee does not seem to be in favor of sending their professional boxers, wanting to give the amateurs a chance.

Star Indian boxer Vijender Singh has been handed a golden chance to represent the country at the Rio Olympics after the International Boxing Association (AIBA) confirmed on Wednesday that professional pugilists will be allowed to compete at the quadrennial extravaganza.

 In a vote on Wednesday, 84 of the 88 member-federations of the AIBA approved a rule change allowing professional boxers to compete at the Olympics. AIBA chief Ching-Kuo Wu informed the media that a total of 26 Olympic berths across all weight categories will be up for grabs at a qualifying tournament for professional boxers to be held in Venezuela next month...

Khan subsequently turned professional and in 2009 outpointed Andriy Kotelnik to win the WBA world super-lightweight title. 

The 29-year-old - whose most recent fight ended in a brutal knockout defeat to WBC middleweight champion Saúl Álvarez - hailed the ruling by boxing's governing body. "It's a decision which I welcome," Khan said at a press conference in Karachi. Khan represented Great Britain at the 2004 Olympics in Greece. 

"It will help boxers and if I am permitted as per rules and from my promoter then I would love to compete for Pakistan. I will be very happy if I can compete in the Olympics. I want to serve Pakistan." Khan's father, Shah, hails from a village close to the capital Islamabad but migrated to Britain, where Amir was born in 1986. 

Pakistan Boxing Federation secretary Iqbal Hussain said he was thrilled at the prospect of Khan representing the country. "I have to check the rules whether Amir can compete or not but it would be a huge boost for us if it happens because he is our hero," he said. Khan's younger brother, Haroon, was blocked from representing Pakistan at the 2012 London Olympics as he had represented Great Britain at junior level.

Floyd Mayweather Retires With $1B In Earnings And Manny Pacquiao With $500 Million Proving Boxing Is A Lucrative Sport

The career earnings of recently retired 39-year-old boxer, Floyd Mayweather, is approximately $1 billion dollars. The career earnings of Mayweather's top rival, 37-year-old Manny Pacquiao, who announced his retirement as well, is approximately $500,000,0000, according to an article published on the Forbes website. Those are staggering figures for any athlete in any sport. There are a number of other boxers who have become multi-millionaires from boxing as well.

Some may scoff at earning a living from boxing, but many athletes have used the sport to support themselves and their families quite well. They've proven boxing can be a great source of income. It takes hard work, dedication, discipline and practice, but it can be done. It also takes good business management. When some people hear and read about the big financial figures being tossed about, it sometimes brings out the greed and envy in them and they try to rip boxers off. So, you have to be careful. Know what you are signing and how your money is being collected and spent.

There are things you can do to help and protect yourself. My dad, a former professional athlete and coach, is of the belief it is a good idea that young boxers seek out the knowledge and assistance of older, veteran boxers. His advice regarding the subject is, "Find a good, old boxer." They can give you tips on life inside and outside the ring, in sharing their experiences. Many of them enjoy being in boxing gyms and soaking up the atmosphere, long after they've retired. Talk to them and see what you can learn.

Mayweather, for instance, had the benefit of his father and uncles, former professional boxers, training and guiding him. It made a big difference. He benefited from their experiences in the ring. Mike Tyson was trained by boxing veteran, Cus D'Amato, who was a boxer and had decades of experience as a trainer when he took Tyson under his wing. Current world champ, Tyson Fury, was trained by his dad, a former boxer (as well as his uncle Peter Fury) and he gained from their experiences. There are tricks of the trade and when you have someone who has been through it helping you with your career, it will benefit you.  

Be careful listening to friends who are not knowledgeable on the sport. They may mean well (while some are just hanging around hoping you'll make money and acquire other material things they can get) but if they don't know the sport and they are trying to assist in training you, they could be telling you things that will lead to you forming bad boxing habits that could cause you trouble in the ring. Keep your practices and form textbook correct, punch perfect.

Even though you are just starting your career, you have to think ahead. Don't do things now that you will regret later. I've often written in this column that entertainers and athletes need to keep their image as family friendly as possible, because it sets a good example and will lead to endorsements that can support you and your family. People make millions of dollars from endorsements alone (this is on top of purse money). So, stay out of trouble and be careful of what you post on social networking.

Should Professional Boxers Be Allowed In The Olympics

The New York Times quoted Wu Ching-kuo of the amateur boxing federation as having stated, “Professional boxers will be at Rio: I don’t know how many, but they will be.” The amateur boxing board has been broaching the subject of potentially allowing professional boxers to compete at the Olympics. The issue is scheduled for a vote at the end of May 2016. Some are in favor of it, while others are against the idea. Amateur boxers fight with headgear and are not used to the hardcore level of fighting that goes on in the ring at the professional level. It is something they have to be somewhat eased into in order to become accustomed to in the ring. 

Amateur boxers fighting professionals at the Olympics likely would not be a level playing field (though it would give some professional boxers the chance to finally represent their country, such as the Philippines Manny Pacquiao, who has expressed an interest in winning his nation's first gold medal and I don't blame him). Imagine an amateur boxer having to face Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder in the ring. It would be an intimidating and daunting task. The professional boxer would likely use experience to win. However, there is also the possibility it would bring up the level of talent in amateur boxers, which could aid in their development (provided the professional boxer doesn't punch the amateur to the moon).   

As stated in the column previously, you can see the progression in most boxers from their first professional fight to approximately their tenth. The development begins to show by the end of that time period. The body language exudes more confidence. The punches become more precise. By approximately their twentieth professional fight, if they progress correctly, boxers look like confident, skilled pugilists, who punch correctly and in a controlled manner.

Manny Pacquiao Sued By Waiter For $8,600,00 Contending He Arranged Meeting That Led To Floyd Mayweather MegaFight

A waiter in Los Angeles, Gabriel Salvador, has sued boxer Manny Pacquiao, his trainer Freddie Roach, CBS and Showtime, alleging breach of contract. Salvador states he arranged a meeting with Roach and CBS executive, Les Moonves, which led to the most lucrative boxing match in history, 2015's Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. The fight grossed over $600,000,000. Salvador wants a "2% finders fee" of $8,600,000. That figure, much like Kim Kardashian's butt, is artificially inflated and preposterous.

It is highly unusual and unorthodox that a trainer or television executive would make an oral agreement of that nature, with a waiter, guarantying a percent of profits from a project. Salvador is asking for more money than most boxers make in a lifetime (and the waiter didn't even throw a punch in the ring). It's just too much for a non-party to the fight. As a token of goodwill, they could give Salvador $50,000. However, it should be noted they gave Salvador $10,000, tickets to the fight, a first class airplane ticket and hotel accommodations, which was reasonable. It's not like they told him to go kick rocks. Furthermore, suing CBS and Showtime over the fight, when he is an aspiring actor wanting to work in Hollywood, is a bad idea, as they will unquestionably blacklist him.

While I'm certainly no fan of Hollywood, due to the dirty dealings that go on, I'm a fair, truthful and unbiased person. Not to be unkind, but a waiter in Hollywood does not have more influence in the entertainment and or sports industries than an accomplished trainer, who has coached world famous boxing champions, is used to television deals and has been apart of other multi-million dollar fights. That's a hard sell in court to state otherwise.

At the end of the day, the fight was going to be made one way or another. Mayweather was being taunted via claims he was scared of Pacquiao, but knew there was great public interest in the then potential  fight. It is highly unlikely Mayweather was going to leave all that money on the table and not fight Pacquiao. Mayweather doesn't like sports pundits telling him what to do and calling him names, so he held out for a long time, being defiant.

Manny Pacquiao Gearing Up For His Last Fight In The Ring With Potential Opponents Floyd Mayweather Or Amir Khan

36-year-old boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao is gearing up for his last fight. The pugilist is recovering from a torn ligament in his arm, after undergoing surgery this past summer. Among his possible opponents is British boxer, Amir Khan, who is keen on the fight. Pacquiao and Khan were seen meeting in London, England in January.

Pacquiao did confirm he is in talks for a rematch against retired boxer, Floyd Mayweather, who won their bout on May 2, 2015. Pacquiao stated on Facebook, "I don't know yet who's my opponent next, but we're still negotiating right now about the rematch with Floyd Mayweather so hoping for that. A rematch would be great.

Pacquiao is leaving boxing for a full time career in politics in his homeland the Philippines. Pacquiao is currently a member of the Philippine Congress as a congressman. He seeks to vie for the job of President of the Philippines and thus is retiring from boxing. The Judiciary Report wishes Manny the best in his new career.

Andre Berto Slams Floyd Mayweather Over Record Low Pay Per View Numbers Of Their Boxing Match

Andre Berto has been taking jabs at former opponent, boxer Floyd Mayweather, blaming him for the less than usual pay-per-view numbers of their fight last week. Mayweather vs. Berto drew between 400,000 to 500,000 pay-per-view viewers, which is a record low for Mayweather, who made it his last fight (which should have created even greater public interest).


Mayweather usually averages at least three times that amount in pay-per-view numbers. Mayweather's May 2, 2015 fight against rival Manny Pacquiao set a pay-per-view record of 5,000,000 viewers. So what happened? As the Judiciary Report stated over a month ago, when the Mayweather v. Berto fight was announced, most people did not know the latter and shied away from buying tickets and ordering the accompanying pay-per-view showing. It was anticlimactic.


Berto blames the record low pay-per-view numbers on Mayweather's evasive boxing style, but it never hurt sales in the past. Berto stated, "It’s definitely Floyd's fault, He left a sour taste in everybody’s mouth because of the Pacquiao bomb shell. I knew if he had the chance he would run around and make it boring, but I tried my best to not let that happen and disappoint the people. They deserve excitement."

Floyd Mayweather Wins Fight Against Andre Berto And Says It Was His Last Bout

As should have been expected, the world's richest boxer, Floyd Mayweather, has won his fight against challenger, Andre Berto. Mayweather cruised to a clear win in a bout that went the full 12-rounds in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather scored a victory of 120-108, 118-110, 117-111. The undefeated champ's record stands at 49-0.


After 19-years as a professional boxer, Mayweather has stated the Berto bout was his last fight. Mayweather is retiring from the sport that has given him so much. It's too bad, as he is still in great shape. One more win and he could have surpassed the record held by heavyweight boxer, Rocky Marciano, rather than equaling it.

Mayweather was evasive the whole fight, exhibiting the great defense that is his trademark. Berto, who had two swollen eyes after the fight stated, "I pushed him to the limit, but he was just better." Still, don't feel sorry for Berto, who earned $4,000,000 from the fight and has bragging rights to state he fought the world champion. For $4,000,000 I would fight Mayweather (I'm kidding).

The Mayweather v. Berto fight was not as lucrative as the Mayweather v. Pacquiao bout in May that shattered all pay-per-view records and sold many tickets at unprecedented sums. However, Mayweather will earn at least $28,000,000 from the Berto fight and there are other tie-ins that are revenue streams as well.

Floyd Mayweather Accused Of Taking Steroids Before His Win Against Manny Pacquiao

The world’s richest boxer, Floyd Mayweather, is seeing his name take a battering, after the top rated American sports network and website ESPN released a report that he had an illegal IV, banned under World Anti-Doping Agency rules, before his May 2, 2015 fight against his number one rival, Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather then received an exemption from the USADA (US anti-doping) weeks after the fight on May 21, 2015. However, the Nevada State Athletic Commission is angry stating USADA did not have the authority to give Mayweather the wavier.

The report indicates the IV Mayweather was given right before the fight and anti-doping arriving at his house in Las Vegas to test him for steroids, contained saline and vitamins. However, the Nevada Athletics Commission has plainly indicated, Mayweather and other athletes are banned from taking IVs in this manner and his dosage far exceeded the amount of fluid allowed under existing rules. This rule is in effect as excessive amounts of saline flush out steroids from the system. The limit is 50 milliliters. Mayweather was given an IV containing a whopping 750 milliliters.

Mayweather, who formerly accused Manny Pacquiao of using steroids, was sued by the Filipino star and settled with him out of court, states he did nothing wrong in using the IV before the May 2, 2015 fight. Ironically, Pacquiao was denied the use of the painkiller Toradol before the Mayweather fight regarding the torn rotator cuff he sustained in training camp, which is a very painful injury that hampers the use of one’s arm due to shocking and jarring pain. Pacquiao underwent surgery to repair the torn rotator cuff and has been wearing a cast while the injury heals.

Floyd Mayweather, USADA deny rules violations prior to Pacquaio fight

17h - LAS VEGAS -- Floyd Mayweather strongly denied Thursday any wrongdoing related to his receiving an intravenous injection mix of saline and vitamins -- banned under World Anti-Doping Agency guidelines -- on the eve of his record-breaking fight with Manny Pacquiao on May 2. The United States Anti-Doping Agency on Thursday also disputed that Mayweather violated any rules, saying the boxer applied for and was granted an exemption for the infusion...

Mayweather's IV usage, reported Wednesday by SB Nation, was allowed by USADA despite it being against the very WADA rules that USADA claims to follow. The contract that Mayweather and Pacquiao signed with USADA to cover the drug testing protocol for the bout allowed for therapeutic use exemptions, but USADA issued Mayweather's exemption for the IV use three weeks after the fight, which is unusual.

In addition, USADA did not notify the Nevada State Athletic Commission, the regulatory agency overseeing the fight, or Pacquiao's team until after it was granted well after the fight, something NSAC executive director Bob Bennett took major issue with. Bennett said only the commission can grant a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) to an athlete, not a drug testing body such as USADA...

Mayweather's medical team told the USADA collection agents that the IV -- which reportedly included a mixture of 250 milliliters of saline and multivitamins and a 500-milliliter mixture of saline and Vitamin C -- was being given to Mayweather for rehydration purposes following the weigh-in.

The fact that they were given intravenously was not allowed, according to WADA rules that state intravenous infusions or injections of more than 50 milliliters per six hours are prohibited "except for those legitimately received in the course of hospital admissions, surgical procedures, or clinical investigations." WADA bans such large injections and infusions because they can be used to "dilute or mask the presence of another substance."...

 There Are So Many Great Up And Coming Fighters In Each Weight Class

The wealthiest boxer in the world, America's Floyd Mayweather, has announced his fight against Haitian-American, Andre Berto, will be his last match. Similarly, boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao has announced he will retire next year to focus on becoming president of his native Philippines. Mayweather and Pacquiao took boxing new new heights, transforming the sport for this generation. With the two most famous, active boxers in the world retiring, who will be the sport's next superstars.


There are so many prospects the possibilities are endless. Boxing's future success will depend on the creativity and industriousness of not only active pugilists, but powerhouse promoters willing to stage amazing fights. Not necessarily expensive fights, but great match ups of fighters people on social networking ask to see in bouts. At the end of the day, you have to give the people what they want. People like thrilling fights and skilled boxers with distinct personalities. Characters are fun (so long as it doesn't get out of control).


The more competitive promoters become worldwide the better things will be for the sport. There is room for everyone and many fights can be made. There are great promoters in America, Britain, Mexico, Germany and the Ukraine. However, they will have to work together and in a manner that benefits everyone. It is up to you to get the boxers out there and into the mainstream, which means more worldwide television, print and internet interviews. Get them out there, so the mainstream public can get to know them. It shouldn't only be boxing fans who can name notable boxers. It should be common knowledge among the public.

Side Bar: Will Mayweather and Pacquiao's sons step into the ring. Their sons are in their teens and grew up in the boxing industry.

Manny Pacquiao To Run For President Of The Philippines In Election

Boxing promoter, Bob Arum, has revealed, superstar Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao, is going to retire next year to pursue a full time career in politics. Arum stated Pacquiao is retiring from boxing and will launch a campaign bid at becoming the President of the Philippines. Manny serves as a congressman in the Philippine Congress. He also came from poverty and became a multi-millionaire athlete, who has helped his people via charity works.

The Judiciary Report wishes Pacquiao all the success in the world in his new venture. It would be great if an intelligent boxer such as Pacquiao, who has helped so many poor people, became President of the Philippines. Manny, as the phrase goes, knock'em out (not literally - you can't punch up people in politics, though I know some politicians would love to knock out their rivals during debates LOL).

Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum was out at Craig's, a popular restaurant in West Hollywood, on Tuesday night when he told TMZ that Manny is planning to fight again next year once he heals up - but that's probably the very last bout for the 36-year-old:

"He's gonna fight again next year but his goal is to become a senator in the Philippines, which he will be next year, and then to be president. I think Manny will retire once he's elected to the Senate of the Philippines which is next year ... he's gonna hang up the gloves."

Manny has been involved in politics for years in the Philippines -- and has been elected to Congress twice before. Pacquiao will turn 37 in December. His career record stands at 57-6-2, with 38 victories coming by way of knockout. He'll go down as one of the best boxers ever, and a hero in his home country, regardless of how his final bout turns out by virtue of some of his memorable wars over the years and becoming the first (and so far only) world champion in eight different weight classes.

Boxing Fans Upset Floyd Mayweather Chose Andre Berto For His Last Fight

Boxing welterweight champion and the richest athlete in the world, Floyd Mayweather, upset fans when he chose lesser known Miami boxer, Andre Berto, for what is being promoted has his last fight (but who knows, he's still at the top of his game). Many wanted a rematch against Mayweather's top rival, Manny Pacquiao. Their first outing grossed Mayweather upwards of $250,000,000. Pacquiao earned an estimated $120,000,000 from the fight.

Fans also wanted a Mayweather bout against Amir Khan (who should fight IBF champ Kell Brook) or Gennady Golovkin also known as GGG (Golovkin's upcoming fight against Lemieux has broken the presale ticket record at Madison Square Garden, which is impressive). Khan has been chasing Mayweather for so long. It's a wonder Khan didn't flip out and put Mayweather or Berto in a headlock when the announcement was made (LOL).

To be fair, Haitian-American Berto has a good record (34-3) and is a welterweight champion. Berto has not lost a fight since 2011 and that bout was to formidable Victor Ortiz. The 31-year-old is happy he has been chosen for the fight, as it will introduce him to a wider audience and grant him a lucrative payday. Berto's purse for the Mayweather fight is said to be $3,000,000. Mayweather purse for the fight is estimated to be between $18,000,000 to $35,000,000.

WBO Strips Floyd Mayweather Of The Belt He Won In Manny Pacquiao Fight

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has stripped boxer Floyd Mayweather of the welterweight belt he won in his bout against Manny Pacquiao, in what is the most lucrative fight in boxing history. Mayweather failed to vacate the title he holds by the stipulated deadline. Mayweather also failed to pay the required $200,000 sanctioning fee to the WBO. Mayweather holds world titles in multiple weight classes with the WBO, WBC and WBA, which is forbidden. Hence being stripped of the WBO title. Initially, Mayweather stated he would vacate the titles, but changed his mind or was too busy counting the estimated $300,000,000 he made from the Pacquiao fight (LOL).

The WBO stated, "The WBO has the utmost respect for Floyd Mayweather Jr. and all that he has accomplished during his storied career. Mr. Mayweather has always agreed with and understood that world championships have both privileges and responsibilities and that status as WBO champion is subject to and conditioned on compliance with the WBO rules and regulations."

Mayweather Promotion's CEO Leonard Ellerbe stated, "It's a complete disgrace. Floyd will decide what, or if any, actions he will take. But in the meantime he's enjoying a couple of hundred million he made from his last outing and this has zero impact on anything he does. Floyd Mayweather has a great deal of respect for each and every organization, as he has always had in his 19-year career, but he will not be dictated to by any organization or person as it relates to his decision making."

In related news, Mayweather has not announced who his next opponent will be, but he is expected to fight again shortly. Pacquiao has not announced his next opponent either, but stated he hopes to fight in 2016, after his arm has healed from a torn ligament injury he had surgically repaired. A rematch between these two top boxers would be very interesting.

The WBO stripped pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather of his welterweight world title on Monday for his failure to comply with the organization's rules. Mayweather claimed the WBO welterweight title when he outpointed Manny Pacquiao on May 2 in a 147-pound unification fight that shattered all financial records for a boxing match, including total gross, pay-per-view subscriptions, closed circuit revenue, live gate, foreign television sales and sponsorships.

Mayweather, who holds two other alphabet welterweight world titles, missed the 4:30 p.m. ET Friday deadline by which he had to pay a $200,000 sanctioning fee from the May 2 fight (for which he earned more than $220 million) and vacate the two junior middleweight titles he also holds.

"The WBO world championship committee is allowed no other alternative but to cease to recognize Mr. Floyd Mayweather Jr. as the WBO welterweight champion of the world and vacate his title for failing to comply with our WBO regulations of world championship contests," the WBO wrote Monday in its resolution. It is against sanctioning organization rules for boxers to hold world titles in multiple weight classes. Manny Pacquiao Confirms He'll Fight Again, Questions Floyd Mayweather's Antics

Floyd Mayweather Mocks Manny Pacquiao In Video On Social Networking Prompting A Serious Response From His Fellow Boxer (Video)

Boxers, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, recently landed on Forbes magazine's rich list, due to their megafight this past May in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather, who walked away with the win and lion's share of the money, due to being the top boxing draw in America, made an estimated $300,000,000 from the fight. Pacquiao is said to have made $160,000,000 from the bout that set pay-per-view records, reaching 5,000,000 households.

All seemed to be okay between the two, but then Mayweather reignited his long standing feud with Pacquiao, via releasing a video to Instagram, casting Pacquiao as a dummy he calls a liar and slaps. Mayweather states to the dummy in the video, "So Manny, you out here telling people that I didn't win fair and square. That this little arm is messed up. Is that right. Huh? Talk to me. Stop lying!"

Pacquiao was not amused by the video. Pacquiao's rep fired off the following response to the video, "We should understand Floyd Mayweather Jr. because of his family background," Pacquiao said in the statement. "He hailed from a family of ex-convicts and he himself is an ex-convict. We could not blame him because his action just showed the kind of family upbringing he had. It only reminds me of what he did to his ex-wife. I hope he would find time to reflect on his life and repent for the sins he committed in the past. A real champion is gracious in both his words and conduct. Someone who is a champion not just in his chosen field of endeavor, but even in his own home and private life."

Mayweather added a caption to the video which states, "I love having fun, joking and living life. #SenseOfHumor." What they need to do is get back in the ring for a rematch to settle this thing once and for all, but this time with the proverbial fireworks, as in a knock out or knock down.

Amir Khan Wins Bout Against Boxer Chris Algieri And Wants To Fight Floyd Mayweather For The Undefeated Pugilist's Last Match

This is a follow up to the April 6, 2015 article "Amir Khan Dodging Boxers Kell Brook And Timothy Bradley" where the Judiciary Report stated, "If Khan loses to undefeated Brook, his chances of fighting the retiring Mayweather or resurgent Pacquiao are greatly diminished. They will seek to fight Brook instead. Fighting formerly undefeated Algieri is less of a risk. Pacquiao gave a roadmap on how to beat Algieri in his recent win against him and Khan will use that blueprint."

So said, so done. Two months later, Khan used Pacquiao's blueprint and beat Algieri in a unanimous decision this past weekend in New York. The fight was watched by 1,200,000 viewers on the Spike cable channel in America. It's not pay-per-view, which is far more lucrative, but it is still a large audience for a smaller transmission fee in television rights.

Khan is once again seeking to fight Mayweather, who has one fight left before retirement. However, a bout with Khan would not be the most lucrative for Mayweather's last fight (unless he decides he is not going to retire, as he is still in top physical condition and fighting well). A rematch against Filipino boxing star, Manny Pacquiao, would be the most lucrative bout, garnering another huge payday, after Mayweather won during their first outing in May. Still, one can't blame Khan for trying.

Many entertainers and athletes have been robbed by their financial advisors and managers. This has occurred for various reasons. Sometimes navigating the waters of fame and fortune for the inexperienced, proves too much, so they rely on others, who sometimes turn out to be untrustworthy and unethical. Entertainers and athletes need to be aware of the pitfalls when choosing representation regarding their finances. There are many sharks in the industry who will take advantage of you if they can.

Beloved Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao was ripped off by his accountant/financial advisor. Money was stolen and the boxing star’s taxes not paid, putting him in a difficult predicament. The truth came out when his accountant died of a stroke and all the paperwork he hid from Pacquiao revealed the discrepancies in how the star's finances were improperly handled. Pacquiao has since earned millions more from recent fights.

Superstar singer and gifted musician, Billy Joel, responsible for some of the biggest pop hits of the past 30-years, was robbed by his brother-in-law, who acted as a financial manager. Joel’s brother-in-law stole $15,000,000 the star has not recovered to this day. His adviser failed to submit tax payments for years and pilfered Harvey's funds as well. Harvey had to greatly increase his workload for a significant period of time to pay the back taxes owed to the government, in a debt that has now been settled.

Former child star, Jerry Supiran, 40, made many appearances on hit shows in the 1980s and early 1990s. He is most famous for his role as Jamie on the 1980s hit sitcom “Small Wonder.” However, a Supiran states a former advisor and a stripper he dated ripped him off, stealing $500,000 of his money. This sent Supiran’s finances into disarray. He tried to find work and was employed as a waiter before the restaurant closed down. In 2012, Supiran ended up homeless. The Judiciary Report has repeatedly warned against dating/marrying promiscuous people and gold diggers. They have bankrupted many people.

Former child star and actor, the late Gary Coleman, made millions starring on the 1980’s sitcom “Different Strokes” and via related deals. The hit show led to many financial opportunities. However, Coleman’s adoptive parents, as well as a gay Michael Jackson impersonator he began living with, stole his millions. Coleman ended up bankrupt and very bitter. He went from being a top star on television to a security guard in a discount store, where a lady harassed him, resulting in a physical altercation and arrest.

Legendary model/singer/actress, Grace Jones, ended up bankrupt after her accountant made off with millions of dollars she’d earned in her career. The money was not recovered. Jones began working again, earning more money from various projects. Jones later married a wealthy Englishman and now lives in Britain.

Many entertainers and athletes do not have degrees but there are a few basics that can help keep you on the road to financial freedom and economic stability: 
 
Do not give anyone power of attorney over your finances, as this will grant them the right to spend and move your money around as they see fit. Power of attorney grants them the right to take out small or large, in your name. Power of attorney grants them the right to purchase homes and cars in your name, as well as take out lines of credit and credit cards. 

Be in control of your finances. Sign your own checks to pay bills and to cover other expenses.

Do not give others credit cards/debit cards on your major bank accounts. It is one thing to have a small household account with money in it to pay utility bills, buy groceries, pay the gardener ect. Assigning a debit/bank card on a small account such as this to a parent or spouse to pay household bills is fine (with a limited overdraft). However, the bulk of your money should be in secured, government backed bank accounts that are not accessible to others. 

Buy a house, even a small one, when the financial opportunity presents itself. Buying is better than renting, as that's putting money back into your pocket via home ownership. You can rent a room in the property to someone you know or apply with the local government to add a one bedroom/one bathroom flat/efficiency/in-law quarters in the backyard or onto the home and rent it each month. The rent from a decent flat/efficiency/in-law quarters can pay your mortgage every month over cover 50-70% of it.

Do not overspend. You do not need a million cars and a million pieces of jewelry. You do not need to try to keep up with the Jones or give off a public appearance of great wealth when your bank account reflects otherwise. Live within your means.

Do not overextend yourself. Buying houses, cars and jewelry beyond your financial means and not factoring in additional costs such as real estate taxes, property maintenance and insurance costs can result in foreclosure and property repossession.

Discipline yourself to check the balance on your bank accounts on a regular basis. You can check your balances every few days or weekly. It is your money and financial future. You can take some time out of your day to check what is transpiring with your bank accounts to ensure no identity theft, theft or overpayments have occurred. You'd be surprised how many entertainers and athletes don't know how much money they have and are surprised to find out they are either being robbed, overcharged or taken advantage of.

Go into the bank and talk to them about your finances if there is anything you are unsure of regarding what your accountant and financial advisers are doing in your name.

Learn to save money in government insured savings accounts. You do not have to spend everything you earn every time you get a paycheck. It is inadvisable. Learn to put something aside in a savings account(s).

Put aside money from your paychecks for taxes as well. Speak to a qualified accountant and the government tax collection bureau of your country to find out the tax bracket you fall in regarding the percentage of your income you owe in taxes. Don't hide it from them, as they'll find out anyway. Double check with the government what percent of your income you owe, to verify your accountant is paying the correct amount to the government and not skimming/stealing any of the money, claiming the entire figure went to taxes.

Which brings me to my next point - pay your taxes. World governments will take your possessions and assign penalties in financial fines and interest if you do not remit the money owed. Anyone telling you that you do not have to pay taxes or proposing a tax avoidance scheme to you is sorely misinformed or straight out lying. The government will find out and it will cost you more in financial penalties than you originally owed for trying to dodge paying your taxes in whole or part.   

Avoid risky investments. There are risky financial investments that claim you will become rich overnight, but it is often not so. If it was that easy everyone would do it. Think about that. Do your research before you invest. As the phrase goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Watch out for opportunistic people, both men and women, only after you for your fame and burgeoning bank account. You don't have to be mean to them, just make a mental note of what they are truly like and protect your finances and name, not to mention your heart. Some people have been badly betrayed by people they thought they could trust. At the end of the day, you have to shake it off and move on, realizing some people will tell you (and others) anything you want to hear to get money out of you or use you as a stepping stone to fame and fortune. Learn to be a good judge of character. People who truly care about you won’t want anything from you other than your time.

It's not the best idea to let people know exactly how much money you have to your name. Some, not all people, will become envious and start scheming on ways to get it. Some people will even plan robberies or try to blackmail you. Some women will entrap you with pregnancies in trying to ensure a paycheck until the child is an adult. Others will try to borrow large sums of money and take the position that you funds and they don’t need to repay you when promised or at all. You have nothing to prove to anyone in telling the world exactly how much money you have, as in the past it has proven a risk for many people. 

Try to start a small business. A good business can support you for the rest of your life, beyond your career in entertainment and sports. Do not spend too much money on this endeavor, especially if it will place you in a financially precarious situation regarding your other financial obligations. Do your research. Seek sound legal and business advice. Compare prices for goods and services that are quoted to you, via online searches and asking around.

When signing contracts, make sure you understand what you are signing. Do not sign your financial life away on any document. If you do not understand something that is written in the contract, do not be afraid to ask, even voicing your question in writing to create a paper trail. So if anyone tries anything in the future or tries to claim something other than what you agreed to, you can present the written statements requesting clarification, necessitating the other party to respond in writing and save their answer for future reference.

Floyd Mayweather Reneges On Offer To Fight Manny Pacquiao In Rematch And Calls Him Names

Undefeated boxer, Floyd Mayweather, angry at the renewed bad publicity surrounding him, has reneged on an offer to fight rival Manny Pacquiao in a rematch, after winning the unanimous decision over him a week ago in their widely watched bout. Mayweather had stated to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith that he is open to a rematch with Pacquiao.

The news of the rematch delighted many on social networking. However, Mayweather changed his mind after a stream of bad publicity calling the first fight fixed and his mood was worsened after negative exposure via a serious $20,00,000 defamation lawsuit by the mother of three of his children, Josie Harris. Mayweather is now calling Pacquiao a "sore loser" and a "coward." 

It should be noted, Mayweather has changed his mind many times in the past about fighting Pacquiao, but did so anyway in what was a record breaking, lucrative bout. Mayweather loves money and will unlikely leave another $180,000,000 on the table in not having a rematch with his top rival Pacquiao. Mayweather has become very wealthy from hard work in the gym and boxing ring, as has Pacquiao. They earned their money fair and square. A rematch would be a wise financial decision.

Do I have any regrets about ordering the fight? No. It was an entertaining experience, under card included. However, I would like to see Mayweather set a better example outside the ring as a wealthy young black man (go to anger management, refrain from domestic violence and stop keeping a stable of girlfriends).
Though he has not finished school, he is no fool (it would be beneficial to him if he obtained his high school diploma via private tutoring). Anyone who listens to Mayweather speak should be able to discern that. However, people are watching him and he has to do better regarding his personal life.
