Wrong Place, Wrong Time

I known of three cases involving decent people who nearly went to jail for crimes they did not commit. You have to be careful who you associate with and let into your circle. In the first case, a young man in his early twenties was in a car with a group of friends. He was just hanging out with his friends as many people do. However, one of his friends, the one driving the car, didn't tell him he was going to make a stop at a post office to pick up something in the mail that he had illegally shipped to him. The government had already intercepted the illegal contents of the package (drugs) and was waiting for him to pick it up at the post office to lock him up. He and everyone in the car, including some of his friends who had done nothing wrong, were arrested. It set off a legal mess their parents had to spend legal fees to get them out of.

Then there's another case of a young man whose friend called him up to go for a ride in his new car. He didn't bother to tell the young man the car was stolen. He picked him and other friends up for a ride in his new car. Police stopped them and ordered them out of the stolen car. Two ran and got away (for a time) including the boy who had stolen the car. However, two were caught. Both of them were innocent. Their parents had to pay legal fees to sort the mess out and free them.

In a second case, a girl fell in love with a guy. While on a date with her on the beach, he decided to rob a tourist. The robbery went wrong, a struggle ensued and he ended up killing the tourist. He was arrested and so was his innocent girlfriend, who was freaked out and in shock by what he had just done. Though she had nothing to do with the crime, the police arrested him and his girlfriend as well, which is standard in serious cases to ensure no one gets away. Her parent had to get a lawyer to get her out of legal charges, to prove she had done nothing wrong. She was later freed.

These situations can happen to anyone. Be careful of getting into situations that are seemingly innocent, but can bring you harm and disrepute, for things you have not done. It's not always easy to tell as some situations seem innocuous on the surface, nonetheless, be careful. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time has gotten many innocent people into trouble. There are people currently in jail affirming they are innocent of the crimes they were incarcerated for, but no one will listen. However, if you are locked up for a crime you did not commit, do not give up on having your conviction overturned. DNA and later discredited witnesses have been successfully cited in cases freeing innocent people.

Wreckage And Bodies From AirAsia Flight Found In Java Sea (Video)

"Debris, Bodies Found in Search for Missing AirAsia Flight 8501"

Search and rescue teams have located the wreckage from AirAsia's flight 8501 that was traveling from Indonesia to Singapore. The wreckage and three bodies of deceased passengers were found in the Java Sea. The airplane is believed to largely be intact. The emergency door was found floating in the sea, indicating someone may have tried to exit the aircraft to avoid the incoming onslaught of waves.

The pilot of flight 8501 requested permission from air traffic controllers to deviate from his established flight plan, due to bad weather, but was denied. The plane went missing not long after. The plane was possibly struck by lightning, destabilizing its computer systems and components. Experts have stated there is technology present on planes to assist in navigating lightning storms, but some pilots do not know how to operate it.

The families and friends of the deceased collapsed in tears and grief when being told the sad news at the airport. Tony Fernandes, the CEO of AsiaAir stated, "My heart is filled with sadness for all the families involved in QZ 8501. On behalf of AirAsia my condolences to all. Words cannot express how sorry I am."

Watch For Warning Signs Your Kids And Siblings Are Suffering From Depression

Photo courtesy of Boston University's anti-suicide outreach

Recently, I was on the Instagram page of a celebrity. On his page was a cry for help from a young girl. On her page she he mentioned being sad, depressed and struggling with a lack of will to live. It's heartbreaking to read such despondency from people, especially teens, who don't realize they have so much to live for.

Parents and older siblings need to watch for the signs of depression and potential suicidal behavior in their relatives and intervene. Depression can lead to people doing irrational things moments of sadness when they lose all hope about life. A depressed perspective can cause people to lose sight of the fact life can and will get better. Suicide is not the answer. No matter what you may think, you are loved and things can get better.

Peaches Geldof Died Of Heroin Overdose Just Like Her Mother 14-Years-Ago

Peaches Geldof

Reports have surfaced stating 25-year-old British socialite, Peaches Geldof, died of a heroin overdose last month. This is the same cause of death regarding the passing of Geldof's mother, Paula Yates, who died early of a heroin overdose at age 41. Geldof was laid to rest last week in England. She is survived by her husband and two toddlers.

Peaches Geldof and her mom Paula Yates

Drug addiction sometimes becomes a cycle running through generations of families. It is dangerous, destructive and toxic, wreaking  havoc on those struggling with addiction. The best course of action is to enroll in rehab and seek therapy. Outpatient rehab to continue one's recovery is also wise in coping with and conquering addiction.

George Zimmerman’s Wife Divorcing Him And Sends An Apology To Trayvon Martin’s Parents Over His Death (Video)

  |
  |

Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman, has filed for divorce. The divorce petition cites irreconcilable differences. In a video with ABC News she recounts what she went through in standing with him after the Trayvon Martin case, where her husband was tried and regrettably acquitted of killing the unarmed 17-year-old teen. Recently, Shellie Zimmerman faced a Florida judge for committing perjury, in lying about how much money the couple collected from donors during the case.

She was sentenced to 100 hours of community service, which she hopes to serve with a "Christian ministry" and 1-year of probation. George Zimmerman was noticeably absent from the court room, which is ironic, as his wife stood by him throughout the trial. Shellie Zimmerman stated on camera she seeks to send a message to Martin’s parents, "I’m so deeply sorry for their loss. I can’t begin to understand the grief that a parent experiences when they lose a child."

The question is will she tell all regarding what she knows about the Trayvon Martin murder. She has been privy to many things, had to help him corroborate his story and is not bound by attorney-client privilege, as she is his wife.

Usher’s Ex-Wife Says Their Son Died And Had To Be Revived

The accidental near-drowning of Usher Raymond’s son, 5-year-old Usher Raymond V, in a pool mishap last week, is more serious than may people first thought. Usher’s ex-wife, who also lost a child last year in a water accident on Lake Lanier (Kile Glover), stated her son with Usher, nicknamed Cinco had "basically died."

Usher and Usher Jr. prior to the accident

Foster stated in court, "The bottom line is my son basically expired. My son had to be revived and brought back to life. My son basically had died on the scene, from what I was told by the doctor." The child has been in the hospital for days, due to water in the lungs, under observation for heart and brain damage.

Tameka Foster in Court: My Son 'Basically Died'

August 09, 2013 - Usher and his ex-wife Tameka Foster faced off in an Atlanta courtroom on Friday in a renewed custody battle triggered by the near-drowning on Monday of the former couple's five-year-old son Usher Raymond V inside the R&B superstar's pool.

When asked at the start of the hearing to give an update on Usher V -- who is still recovering from the accident at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta hospital -- Foster replied, "My son is alive, he's alive. I'd say he's doing well." But she also added that he is not ready to be discharged from the hospital and that "there are several issues that I'm concerned about that don't seem quite normal," about the care of Usher V and her other son, four-year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond, who also lives at Usher's residence…
During his beginning testimony on the stand, Usher said he was in the studio when he was notified about the accident and rushed home as soon as possible to assess the situation. "When I arrived, my son was hysterical, and in the back of an ambulance."

The singer said he did his best to calm his son down and was trying to help him understand what had taken place and made this his immediate priority, rather than contacting Foster. He said he waited until he was at the hospital to call his ex about the situation, but at that time, indicated that he still didn't have a clear understanding yet of the gravity of the situation.

Usher's Son Nearly Drowns At His Home And Is Placed In ICU (Videos)

Usher Raymond IV, the 5-year-old son of singer Usher and ex-wife Tameka Foster Raymond, nearly died today from drowning, after he jumped into his dad's pool, while in the care of his aunt, attempting to retrieve a toy that had become lodged in the drain.

The boy became involuntarily attached to the drain, prompting his aunt and a housekeeper to jump into the pool in an attempt at freeing him from the powerful suction of the system. They were unsuccessful at freeing him and screamed for help from two men working in the house. The men also jumped into the pool and were able to free him.

CPR was performed at the house, until paramedics arrived and transported the child to a local Atlanta, Georgia hospital. Raymond IV, also known as "Cinco" was placed in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit). It is not currently known if there will be long term brain damage from being submerged under water for minutes, especially on the developing brain of a child, who was deprived of oxygen during the mishap in the pool.

This is the second tragedy to strike Usher and his ex-wife Tameka. Last year, Tameka's 11-year-old son Kile died in an accident on Lake Lanier as he was struck in the head by a jet ski, while floating on a pontoon. He was placed on life support with doctors determining there existed no brain activity. He was removed from life support weeks after the tragedy.

The Case Of The Three Young Women Abducted In Ohio Another Reminder Of The Time Victims Of Crime Lose (Ariel Castro Convicted)

Gina DeJesus, 23, Amanda Berry, 27 and Michelle Night, 32 were cruelly kidnapped by 53-year-old Ariel Castro in Cleveland, Ohio. He kept the women as sex slaves, brutally raping and beating them repeatedly over a 11 year time frame. The women were freed this year due to the intervention of two neighbors. Police were summoned and Castro arrested, indicted and convicted on a host of charges. He has been sentenced to life in prison, plus 1,000 years.

They were robbed of their innocence and years by a man who behaved illegally and unconscionably. Survivors of such confinement, often feel cheated as they miss developmental milestones and important events in their lives, due to being locked away against their will.

Similarly, when you look at great men like Nelson Mandela, who were wrongfully locked away for years against their will, they all basically tell the same story - they felt as though life was passing them by and they had become spectators instead of participants.

The things some people go through in this world can be so disheartening. When you see humanity at its worst, it causes great pause. The resilience of the human spirit is not to be underestimated. Men and women have survived horrors and reemerged with a steely determination to continue with their lives and they are some of the strongest among us in this world.

Claudette Ortiz Of R&B Divas LA Was Raped

Claudette Ortiz has been through a lot. Previously she revealed she had become homeless for a time and now she shares she was raped.

Former City High lead singer, Claudette Ortiz, revealed last night on the third episode of the hit reality show "R&B Divas LA" that she was raped. The beautiful songstress did not go into detail about the incident, but a very sad look appeared on her face while mentioning it. Sorry that happened to her.

Rape is wrong. When a woman says no, she means no. Yet there are some in society, who believe women are playing hard to get, don't want to be labeled a slut and put up a fight rather than giving in to a man's advances and so they use force, also known as rape. That's a cruel thing to do to a woman, as sex is supposed to be a loving, personal and intimate act, not something one is forced into against one's will.

Chante Moore lost her virginity at age 17 under forceful circumstances she didn't want.

During the episode, Chante Moore also shared that the first time she had sex at 17, she felt she was "a child" and was "taken advantage of" by an older man. While holding back tears she indicated, she did not want to give him her virginity, so instead he took it. That was sad.

Losing one's virginity is supposed to be with the one you love. It's supposed to be special, memorable and wonderful. At least, that's how most females envision it will be and what they look for (flowers, music ect). No one has the right to take that from anyone. No one wants their virginity taken by force and or in a rough manner.

Trayvon Martin Death Photos Released (Photos)

Trayvon Martin after being shot and killed by George Zimmerman

Heartbreaking photos of 17-year-old murder victim Trayvon Martin have been released and they are terribly sad. The photos show the innocent teen's lifeless body laying on the grass, after unjustifiably being killed by neighborhood patrol watchman George Zimmerman. As the murder trial moves forward in Florida, some have publicly expressed their concerns justice will not be served.

Martin's lifeless body at the crime scene

At the end of the day, Zimmerman violated neighborhood, police and 911 rules in pursuing Martin, confronting and then killing the teen, after offensively demanding to know, "What are you doing around here?" How is one to take that, as it is a rude, ill-mannered, accusatory question to ask someone walking in their family's neighborhood. He had a right to be there. He was not trespassing.

Gunshot wound to the chest that killed Martin

Regardless of your views on race, a boy was gunned down before he even came of age, at the hands of a paranoid, suspicious, trigger happy man who disobeyed the orders of those in authority, to recklessly pursue his victim. Martin owed him no explanation, as he is not the police and the average cop would not have acted in the corrupt, careless manner Zimmerman did, gunning down an unarmed teen simply trying to find his way home.

Memorial for Martin

No one, black, white, Hispanic, Asian or Indian deserves to be killed in the manner Martin was and it has set a terrible precedent in the State of Florida and America, which could lead to repeated acts of similar violence if Zimmerman is found not guilty. Last year it was Martin, tomorrow it could be your loved one - black or white - and no one wants that. Don't take society in this direction.

8-Year-Old Dies In Boston Marathon Bombing And His Little Sister Loses Her Leg (Video)

3 Dead, 176 Injured Several Of Them Children, 17 In Critical Condition, 10 With Loss Of Limbs And More Amputations Are Expected

Terrorist Attack At Boston Marathon Leaves 3 Dead, 10 With Loss Of Limbs, 17 In Critical Condition, 132 Injured [Video]

 132 People Injured

The iconic Boston Marathon in Massachusetts ended today in terrible tragedy, as bombs exploded near the finish line. 3 people were killed, including an 8-year-old boy. 132 people were injured in the bloodbath, which included loss of limbs and amputations.

This unspeakably wicked, unconscionable act of human cruelty has shaken Boston, as bombs have been located in strategically placed historic points of interest, aimed at physically, emotionally and mentally damaging the city.

ABC News reported authorities are looking for a dark skinned male with a foreign accent, carrying a black backpack and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, as he attempted to access a restricted area minutes before the bombs went off. This is unquestionably an act of terror, whether of domestic or foreign origin. To attack innocent people going about their lives at a celebrated public event is terrorism.

12-Year-Old Boy Dies From Injuries After Being Bullied (Video)

12-year-old Bailey O'Neill of Pennsylvania, was taken off life support one day after his birthday. O'Neill was a victim of schoolyard bullying and sustained serious injuries in an attack, which resulted in a broken nose and seizures from trauma to his brain. He was placed in a medically induced coma to relieve pressure on his brain.

A Facebook page posted in O'Neill's honor read, "First of all I want to say the battle isn't over we will remember Bailey always and we will continue this fight until Bullying is eradicated," said a post on the Prayers for Bailey O'Neill Facebook page, which is not run by the family.

"With the heaviest heart we want to inform you all that Bailey has gone to be with the Lord please, please, please continue to pray for his family and continue on this fight for us until no child ever has to face a situation like this again. God Bless You all thank you so much!"

The Judiciary Report has stated in the past and reiterates, bullying should be criminalized. Kids are seriously injured or commit suicide from bullying. Something must be done to stop it. Only a small percentage of students would be unwise enough to risk jail to bully others, thus reducing the number of incidents.

100 Foot Deep Sinkhole Becomes Man's Grave As His Home Is Demolished On Top Of Him (Video)

With the indefinite suspension of significant efforts to retrieve the body of 37-year-old Jeff Bush, whose Tampa, Florida bedroom collapsed into a 100 foot deep sinkhole, his home has been demolished by the local government. Two surrounding homes are scheduled for demolition as well.

Tests concluded the neighboring homes have substantial sinkholes underneath them as well and pose a risk to life and public safety. Residents were given half an hour to remove their belongings before the structures are condemned and demolished as well.
