Tyson Fury’s Options In Fighting Fellow Boxer Wladimir Klitschko

World champion boxer, Wladimir Klitschko, has been ruling the heavyweight scene for 11-years. The length of Klitschko's reign is second only to legendary champion Joe Louis. The Ukrainian’s next fight is scheduled to be against British champion, Tyson Fury, who is a tough boxer with gypsy roots. The massive pugilist is in training, as is Klitschko for their bout. Boxing promoters are mulling London, England as the venue, with Wembley being a prime choice.

In most recent fight, against skilled American boxer, Bryant Jennings, the champ frustrated his formerly undefeated rival with the hit and hug. All fight Klitschko hit and hug Jennings to hamper his ability to properly hit him back (Wlad must be a great hugger at home with Hayden Panettiere LOL). Klitschko didn’t get the knockout against tough Jennings, but won on points with this hit and hug strategy, skillfully employed by other top pugilists, such as the world’s richest boxer, American, Floyd Mayweather. The constant hugging also wears down opponents to a certain degree, tiring them out via resistance in having to work their way out of bear hugs.

Fury’s best chance of getting the win is to knockout Klitschko. Easier said than done (but he has been knocked down before). Otherwise Fury will have to outbox him on points and Klitschko, much like Mayweather, is a great defensive boxer, who is very evasive in the ring. Hit and don't get hit has served them well.

WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight boxing champion of the world, Wladmimir Klitschko, is keen on fighting mandatory, undefeated British champ, Tyson Fury. The Brit with Irish roots has come far from his days as a gypsy boxer, to the top rated pugilist in Britain. Fury, who is quite the character, is known for giving incendiary interviews and for losing his cool at press conferences. Klitschko is the long running world champ from the Ukraine, who is more reserved, but very potent in the ring.

Fresh off his win against tough American boxer, Bryant Jennings, a fighter very familiar to boxing fans, Klitschko's advisor, Shelly Finkel stated of Fury, "There's a very good chance of it taking place in the UK. I'm sure Wlad is going to fight Fury in September or October. There's a very good chance of Wembley stadium or Manchester. It's that big a fight, we believe. Two weeks ago Wladimir fought at Madison Square Garden and nobody knows Bryant Jennings but it was the highest rated HBO fight in three years. That gives you some idea. And Tyson is the big-mouth from England...of course he'd love to shut him up once and for all. He would love to have a fight in the UK. It's a great fight area and Wlad has a big ,big fan base there."

There you have it. The trash talk has begun. Klitschko's camp just called Fury "big mouth" and stated they want to beat him in his own country. Let the games begin. It would be great if the fight was held at iconic Wembley stadium in London. It's a great, world class venue.

5:20PM BST 08 May 2015 - Wladimir Klitschko is intent on defending his world heavyweight titles in the UK against Tyson Fury in September or October, according to his American adviser Shelly Finkel and promoter Frank Warren. "There's a very good chance (of it taking place) in the UK," Finkel told Telegraph Sport. "I'm sure Wlad is going to fight Fury in September or October. The IBF declared American pugilist, Timothy Bradley, the mandatory Amir Khan must fight in an eliminator bout, where the winner would take on undefeated welterweight titleholder, Kell Brook. Khan declined the fight in a move that has tongues wagging. Bradley beat Filipino legend, Manny Pacquiao, due to controversial scoring, but was defeated in the subsequent rematch.

Fellow British boxer, Kell Brook, has been requesting a fight against Khan, but he has repeatedly dodged him at every turn. Brook and his team offered Khan $7,500,000 for a May 2015 title fight at London’s famed Wembley stadium, but he declined. Last week, Khan announced he would instead fight American boxer, Chris Algieri, who was recently defeated by Pacquiao.

Brook became angry at the announcement stating, "If someone said to me you can get five million quid, a world title, fight at Wembley with a fight that every fan wants to see, it's a no-brainer for me. He's fighting Algieri who didn't win a round against Pacquiao, a feather puncher, not a big puncher. It doesn't make sense to me. I'm world champion, I'm calling him out, we want the fight, there's a word title and a bagful of money and it doesn't make sense that he's fighting this guy who's bringing nothing to the table."

Brook believes Khan's declination of the fight against him does not make sense. However, to Khan it does and for this reason. Khan wants to fight top dogs Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, as they are the most famous in the division, guaranteeing the biggest payday as well. In boxing it is a big deal to be able to state you fought Mayweather and or Pacquiao. Those are historic bragging rights. If Khan loses to undefeated Brook, his chances of fighting the retiring Mayweather or resurgent Pacquiao are greatly diminished. They will seek to fight Brook instead.

Fighting formerly undefeated Algieri is less of a risk. Pacquiao gave a road map on how to beat Algieri in his recent win against him and Khan will use that blueprint. There is no blueprint for beating Brook, as he is undefeated. There exists too much risk for Khan to fight Brook at this time due to these facts (even though the Judiciary Report is of the belief Brook vs. Khan in London this summer would be a fantastic fight that deserves to be made).

As stated in past articles, in boxing all it takes is one punch to mess up a career (then comes the arduous but workable rebuilding after such a defeat). Brook needs to focus on getting an audience with Mayweather and or Pacquiao and not wait around for Khan. Try to get a fight with the legends as well.

The back and forth between Kell Brook and Amir Khan seems to be a never-ending saga that has gone on for years now. Ever since Brook picked up the IBF welterweight title, thinking that would give him the standing to demand a Khan fight, the war of words started heating up. When Amir Khan announced yesterday that he would be fighting Chris Algieri next, Brook wasn't at all pleased.

IBF Confirms Khan Turned Down Bradley Title Eliminator

Amir Khan, 30-3 (19 KOs), has turned down an eliminator against Tim Bradley that would have determined who became the mandatory for the IBF welterweight title, currently held by Kell Brook. Khan, 28, had previously reached out to Boxing Scene to categorically refute the claims. However, the IBF Championships Chairman confirmed that Khan had indeed been offered the fight with Bradley and that it had been rejected on his behalf by his team. "Amir Khan’s people turned down the fight. Bradley accepted"...

The highly anticipated Froch v. Groves 2 fight in London, England this past Saturday was a bonafide success and another example of supply and demand. Reports indicate 80,000 tickets of varying price levels, were sold for the historic event, which was a rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves. The bitter rivalry inside and outside the ring played out to a packed house at Wembley stadium in North London. Said rivalry undoubtedly helped to sell tickets, as fans love characters and a good show.

However, only one man was left standing in the bout and it was Froch, who came away the winner. Froch sealed the deal with a right hook that floored Groves during the eighth round, rendering a knock out. Groves, who also fought with heart, was gracious in defeat. Froch retained his super middleweight titles and pocketed a multi-million dollar purse. Groves shouldn't feel too bad, as he is said to have made between $1,500,000 to $3,000,000 for the fight. 

The night was kicked off  by heavyweight boxer and Olympic gold medalist, Anthony Joshua, a power puncher, who is built like a tank. Joshua quickly dispatched challenger, Matt Legg, in 83 seconds for a first round knock out. British boxer Jamie McDonnell, having won 22 fights with 2 losses, knocked out Thailand's Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat, an experienced pugilist, who came into the fight with an impressive record of 51-2. However, McDonnell's win affirms my view that anyone can win on any given day in sports. McDonnell won the vacant WBA bantamweight title. James DeGale also stopped Brandon Gonzales in the fourth round.

British boxer George Groves, is scheduled for a May 31, 2014 rematch against champion Carl Froch, in London’s legendary Wembley stadium. Taking a page from the Floyd Mayweather school of boxing, Groves has decided to take a more hands on approach to his career. Groves applied for a boxing license in Britain to become his own manager, in a move that has been granted by the commission. Groves, presumably with the help of a lawyer, is negotiating his own contracts. 

Groves stated of the bold move, "I may not be the smartest man in west London but I do know that an 80,000 crowd brings in £5million. Then there's the television and so on. So I'm not going to accept £100,000 or £1m." Groves was reportedly offered $1,600,000 to fight Matchroom boxer, Froch, but held out for more. As an athlete, you have to earn all you can while you can, especially in sports like boxing and football, where injuries can really sideline careers.

If Groves is of the belief he has the acumen to be his own manager and make the most astute, financially savvy and sound decisions, why not. He will make more money in doing so, provided he pursues the right deals inside and outside the ring. Froch v. Groves, in addition to the undercard featuring boxers like gold medalist Anthony Joshua, promises to be an interesting and entertaining night of boxing.

Groves: I don't trust anyone to manage me

April 4, 2014 - George Groves has applied for a manager's licence from boxing's authorities because he doesn't trust anyone to look after him following his controversial fight with Carl Froch. Londoner Groves was unhappy after being stopped by referee Howard Foster in the ninth round at the Manchester Arena and battled hard to secure a rematch, set to take place at Wembley Stadium on May 31.

It took a protest to the International Boxing Federation in New York to force another world super middleweight title bout - and it led to Groves deciding that he is better off sorting out his own business. "He's in a bad place" George Groves believes he has the psychological advantage over Carl Froch as the pair prepare for their rematch at Wembley. "I know I would have beaten him the first time if it hadn't been improperly stopped," he told talkSPORT." Now there's no way Carl can beat me.

"He says he can't even stand to hear my name spoken and he can't look at me for the stare-down photographs which are part of being a professional and selling a fight. "He's seeking help from a sports psychologist because he's in a bad place." "You have to have a manager to be a boxer and you can no longer just appoint yourself as your own manager like the old days," he explained to the Daily Mail. "So I formally applied to the British Boxing Board of Control for a manager's licence.

"It's taken a while because first they said I hadn't done the form properly, then I hadn't sent the two photographs. But it's all done now. "I'm taking charge of my own business because I don't trust anyone at the moment." Promoter Eddie Hearn reportedly offered Groves £1 million for the Froch rematch, but Groves wasn't interested as interest in the fight hit fever pitch...

The highly anticipated boxing rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves sold out quickly yesterday afternoon. Froch was awarded the fight in a controversial decision against then undefeated Groves. Demand was so high, promoters are seeking to release 20,000 additional tickets at the venue. The press conference for the fight revealed tensions between the two men. Froch’s large, rough around the edges brother Lee, also had a threatening stance and tough words for the well-groomed and smartly attired Groves, who tried to take things in stride.

Things also didn’t get friendly during a photo call at Wembley, as Froch pushed Groves while repeatedly refusing to acknowledge his existence. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the fight before the fight. Froch’s brother continued his taunts, prompting Grove to state, “Who was talking to you sweetheart!” (LOL he was calling you a girl).

Annoyed by the attacks, Groves told promoter Eddie Hearn to handle it. However, Hearn, being the brave, courageous fearless promoter he is, laughed and quickly got out the way, determined not to accidentally get his butt kicked in any potential melee. It’s not everyday you see that kind of bravery *cough* self-preservation (just teasing).

R&B group Jodeci was booed off stage in London, England at Wembley Arena, during a 90s nostalgia concert featuring Dru Hill and SWV, among others, after their performance went awry. Group members K-Ci, JoJo and Mr. Dalvin, sans Devante Swing, had trouble getting their performance on track, due to sound issues. Concertgoers also reported the group looked inebriated.

Jodeci is a talented group had their start in the church, but the vices of the music industry enveloped them when they became famous in the 1990s leading to alcoholism, drug addiction, sex addiction, violence, arrests and discord. It's always sad when this happens, but regrettably too many people have fallen into the pitfalls of fame. It's happened so many times and artists need to learn from the mistakes of those that came before them.

Jodeci was one of my favorite groups during my preteen years. When I listen to some of the R&B music coming out today, it pales in comparison to what groups such as Jodeci, Boyz II Men, Guy and Shai did during their hay day. It is my hope the members of Jodeci will find sobriety and stick with it.
