U.S. State Department puts its foot in its mouth, then deleted this tweet and apologized
When a government tries to be cool online,
it never ends well. The U.S. State Department is more proof
of this. A smart aleck tweeting from the State Department's
official Twitter page posted the comment, "Not a '10' in the
US? Then not a 10 overseas. Beware of being lured into
buying expensive drinks or worse - being robbed #springbreakingbadly."

Then the State Department deleted the tweet and issued this apology:
People shouldn't feel bad. The State Department
wasn't calling everybody ugly. They were just talking about
Madonna and Jay Z (LOL). The rest of you, have a happy
vacation, don't leave your drinks unattended, don't take
rides from strangers or book travel arrangements with
companies/sites that aren't reputable.

Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs apologized for a
tweet it sent out Wednesday that warned Americans of scams
while traveling overseas. “Not a ‘10’ in the US? Then not a
10 overseas. Beware of being lured into buying expensive
drinks or worse – being robbed. #springbreakingbadly,” the
tweet read. It has since been deleted, but several media
organizations had already captured the tweet, and Twitter
users were quick to respond...
