Video Surfaces Showing Disney Employee Fending Off Alligators As 2-Year-Old Victim Lane Graves Is Laid To Rest

As beautiful 2-year-old boy Lane Graves is laid to rest in Nebraska, after a fatal alligator attack that occurred at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in Florida, new video has surfaced illustrating the problems transpiring regarding dangerous animals in what is billed, "The happiest place on earth." 

Video has surfaced of an employee at Disney’s Splash Mountain fending off an aggressive alligator that kept assertively moving towards him, a few feet from a the ride containing tourists. The employee hit’s the aggressive gator on the face/nose to force the beast back into the water. What is alarming is that the alligator came so close to the tourists on the ride. It is also a point of concern that a Disney employee has to fend off gators on the job, as it has to be stressful and disconcerting. The gators pose a threat to tourists and employees alike. 

Florida is mostly swamp and sand. Over the decades, construction sites have brought in rocks and use cement to lay foundations to facilitate building structures. Miami Beach, Florida also had to be reinforced with rocks in order to build on it decades ago. Disney was built on alligator and snake infested swamp land that was purchased at rock bottom prices, due to the dangerous inhabitants. Where Disney went wrong was building an artificial pond, known as the Seven Seas Lagoon, around its rides and resort hotels. 

They should have just cleared the land and kept it free from artificial bodies of water to limit the number of dangerous animals. They should have also walled in the hotels with security gates. Artificial ponds/lagoons gives an appealing appearance, but was a bad idea in said Southern setting, due to the deadly animals that live in the region. 

The fake Seven Seas Lagoon connects to actual natural bodies of water in Florida that are home to ferocious alligators and snakes. This provided easy access for the natural wildlife in the area to move into the artificial Seven Seas Lagoon at Disney via simply swimming and slithering into it. These wild animals are behaving like their habitat is being encroached upon by unwanted visitors (humans). There are approximately 1.5 million alligators in Florida. The closer you live to a body of water, the more likely it is you will see or encounter one. 

Disney erred again in running ads showing people standing in the Seven Seas Lagoon in front of windsurfing gear at the Grand Floridian. Disney also negligently encouraged tourists to sit on the manmade beach day and night, knowing there are alligators in the water, who do walk on land. They don’t just walk a little on the shore and then retreat. There are many gators who have walked lengthy distances on land at different intervals at various speeds. Looking at the videos and photos that have surfaced showing alligators popping up at different locations in Disney World is very jarring. It is insane that Disney encouraged guests to frequent a gator infested beach.

If Disney Is Sued By The Family Of 2-Year-Old Alligator Victim Lane Graves They Need To Settle And Here’s Why

2-year-old Lane Graves was killed in an alligator attack at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, after he was snatched at the edge of the manmade Seven Seas Lagoon, while wading in water that reached his ankles. Lane’s father fought to free him from the ferocious gator, but was unable to do so, due to the sheer strength of the animal. Lane’s mother also jumped into the water trying to free her son.

Many are speculating the family will sue. It would be completely understandable, as they have suffered a horrific trauma due to Disney’s negligence in encouraging tourists to use a fake beach bordering an artificial lagoon they knew had become infested with alligators. Disney placed a “no swimming” sign on the fake beach, but it stated nothing about alligators.

Lane was not swimming in the water, in violation of the sign. He was standing in ankle deep water, just like people in the Disney ad for the hotel. If Disney had an alligator warning sign in the area people would not have used the fake beach bordering the artificial pond. Tourists from out of state (the Graves are from Nebraska) and the international community do not know to beware of gators in the state of Florida, but locals do. It is generally not something tourists are told, as it is not very glamorous. 

Others have since come forward revealing they were on the shore at the Seven Seas Lagoon and confronted by aggressive alligators who charged at them. Guests told Disney of the problem, but their concerns were brushed off as insignificant. The mere fact Disney knew and failed to take the proper measures to protect guests and it resulted in Lane’s death, says they are liable.

Some lawyers do not have the best strategy. They let their egos get the best of them, stating they can beat and win any case. However, some cases aren’t worth winning, as the cost to your name and that of your client results in irreparable damage and public hatred. Not to mention the damage it does to the Judiciary’s name. 

Disney needs to settle with the Graves if they sue, as it is the right thing to do under what must be unimaginably horrible circumstances for the family. Disney and their lawyers also need to watch what they say about the case, lest the public pounces on them.

I’ve seen a few arrogant lawyers decide to take the gloves off with victims in lawsuits only for it to destroy their clients’ businesses and cause other potential clients to run from them. 

There is no question Disney is at fault - from the bad advertising showing guests in the water to numerous reports of guests complaining to staff about the alligators, the evidence does not look good. And make no mistake, if the public catches Disney in a dogfight with the Graves family in court, they will take a massive financial hit from locals and tourists turning on the resort.

In response to public outcry, over the death of beautiful 2-year-old boy, Lane Graves, who was grabbed and drowned by an alligator at the Disney Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, whilst vacationing with his family, the company states it will now posts alligator warning signs on their properties. Disney stated, "All of our beaches are currently closed. We are conducting a swift and thorough review of all of our processes and protocols. This includes the number, placement and wording of our signage and warnings. US Magazine revealed, "A source told the newspaper that Disney World plans to put up signs warning guests of alligators."  

Disney knew of the alligator problem at its resort. After Lane went missing, reports began to surface of other guests who had encountered alligators. Then tourist videos began to emerge of alligators previously spotted at the Grand Floridian. Yesterday a new video surfaced of an alligator attempting to board a raft with guests of the hotel.

Since Lane's passing, Disney has admitted that prior to the fatal attack, they have been using the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to catch "nuisance gators." This will not hold up well in court, as it reveals they knew there was a problem, but hid it from guests, opting to occasionally remove alligators and place a generic "no swimming" sign that could mean anything.

Signs should have been posted warning guests of the presence of alligators, but many people would not want to visit the resort if they knew and that's why Disney didn't do it. No one wants to pay $550 USD per night to be confronted or attacked by an alligator.

The Graves family issued a statement on the passing of their son Lane, "Words cannot describe the shock and grief our family is experiencing over the loss of our son. We are devastated and ask for privacy during this extremely difficult time. To all of the local authorities and staff who worked tirelessly these past 24 hours, we express our deepest gratitude."

Excerpts from the autopsy done on little Lane was released yesterday afternoon and revealed he died from traumatic injuries (the alligator grabbing him) and drowning, which the site did state two days ago (as that's what alligators do, drown their prey). However, Lane, unlike most alligator attack fatalities, was found intact (gators often remove a limb or more via doing what is known as the "death roll"). This means the alligator did not do the "death roll" instead opting to drop the boy a short distance of 15 yards away from where the attack occurred, which resulted in drowning. My deepest condolences to Lane's family.

The body of 2-year-old Lane Graves, was recovered from a manmade lagoon at Disney’s Grand Floridian Hotel and Spa. The beautiful boy and his family were on vacation at Disney world. At approximately 9:00PM during movie night, the family and other guests of the hotel were on a man  made beach overlooking an artificial lagoon that leads out to an alligator habitat.

Lane was wading in inches of water, when an alligator quickly surfaced and attacked. The animal gabbed Lane, wrongly believing he was food. Lane's dad, Matt Graves, fought the alligator in trying to free his son from the animal's mouth. Lane's mother Melissa also waded into the water trying to help her son. However, after a few seconds the alligator retreated into the lagoon with Lane in his mouth.

A lifeguard and other guests witnessed the horrible incident unfold and called for help. A search ensued as fifty people attempted to find the boy. Five alligators were caught and culled, in attempts at finding Lane. The next afternoon, authorities recovered Lane's body intact close the the spot the attack had occurred. The alligator had drowned Lane, but released him when he realized the boy was not food (alligators eat fish and turtles).

Some have been pointing to the fact the artificial beach had a "no swimming" sign posted. However, Lane was not swimming in the water. He was playing at the shore. The sign did not warn of alligators. Had Disney responsibly placed a sign warning of alligators, the family and others who have visited the Grand Floridian, would not have went to the artificial beach. A neighboring hotel has signs plainly stating alligators are present and not to feed or touch them. Disney is liable, as they had no alligator warning signs and have encouraged guests to sit on the fake beach during movie night and in the day while sunbathing.

In wanting to give their expensive hotel a more upscale appeal, Disney neglected to mention to the visiting public that the resort is built in alligator infested swamp and woodlands, where there have been a number of alligator sightings, some of which have been caught on film and in photographs. Other guests had complained about alligators at the Grand Floridian Hotel and Spa.

3-months ago, a family from Liverpool, England vacationed at the Disney Grand Floridian and came face to face with an 7 foot alligator. The family stated they were on the artificial beach in lounge chairs provided by Disney, who once again encourages guests to use the fake beach lining an artificial pond infested with gators. The family did not go into the water, neither did a group of Canadians, who were also on vacation and on the fake beach. However, the English family heard a loud and noise and not long after, an alligator surfaced on the shore and charged at them.

Once again, the families were not swimming in the water, but sitting on the shore 40-feet from the artificial lagoon. Both families had to run for their lives. Therefore, any claims Lane was "wading in the water" that barely reached his knees, does not constitute swimming in water nor does it excuse the fact Disney did not inform guests of the fact alligators are present and pose a threat to human life. 

Locals know the risks of dark water in Florida. However, a family from Nebraska, England or Canada will not realize the threat to safety and life. Disney has failed to warn foreigners and out of state guests of the risks. Gators see humans in heavily populated areas as adversaries taking over their land. Alligators do not like humans. Avoid them, because if they get the chance, they will attack you without warning.

Side Bar: Florida is full of gators and they like to lurk in dark water. I once saw an alligator at the edge of the boulder lined waters of the bay in Miami, where they are not thought to roam. However, due to it being by a park and entertainment complex, where people eat everyday and at times throw food in the water rather than garbage cans, the gator was there lurking wanting to be fed (I've even seen shopping carts in that water - people need to stop polluting) . 

If you've lived in Florida, you will see a gator or hear stories of them. My friend saw a baby gator surface and walk along the manmade pond in her then newly built community. Years ago my mom's friend communicated the dangers of living in Florida near water, stating her friend had purchased a brand new home on a lake, but sold it within days after an alligator surfaced, snatched her small dog and dragged him into the water, never to be seen again. Another friend told us of  an incident where she heard a scratching noise at her front door, looked through the peephole and saw nothing, but when she finally opened the door to peek, a gator was on the ground. The gator was scratching on the front door and had she opened it fully, the animal would have lunged at her. 

The closer you live to a lake, pond, river or lagoon in Florida, the more likely it is to happen. Architects in Florida love to build artificial ponds in new communities and place a fountain in the center as a selling point, but it has the risk of almost always attracting alligators, who usually come out in the evening and at night. However, some have openly lurked in the day time, likely hungry and seeking for food after ending up in a fake habitat that lacks fish.

The attack happened in 1986 on an eight-year-old who was playing near a small pond at the park's Fort Wilderness campground. Paul Richard Santamaria was squatting by the water when suddenly an enormous female alligator pounced and bit him on the left leg leaving the youngster with “multiple lacerations and punctures”. 

His sister ran over and tried to pull him by the armpits but had a “tough time” keeping hold of her brother, the boy’s mother Roberta said. Paul’s 10-year-old brother Joseph Jr then started beating the reptile with his hands forcing the alligator to release its hold and slinked back into the water...

Disney Attack Neighboring Resort Warned of Alligators

6/15/2016 7:13 AM PDT - A resort just a few miles from Disney's Seven Seas Lagoon where a 2-year-old was attacked by an alligator had a clear warning sign -- BEWARE OF ALLIGATORS. The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress has a lagoon similar to the one at the Disney Grand Floridian Resort. As we reported, the Disney resort has a sign saying NO SWIMMING, but no mention of alligators. The Hyatt went the extra step and warned of gators.

As we reported, a gator was allegedly caught on video in the Seven Seas Lagoon just days before the attack. We called several other nearby Disney resorts, and we were told there were no signs warning of alligators ... just that the waters were not for swimming.

Body of two-year-old boy killed by alligator recovered as Disney World beaches closed

16 June 2016 5:35am - Police and wildlife officials launched an investigation into the safety of beaches at Walt Disney World amid a massive hunt for the body of a two-year-old boy killed when he was dragged into a lagoon by an alligator. All nine Disney World resort beaches were closed after the attack on Tuesday night. Approximately 18 hours after the search began, the boy's body was recovered by divers. He was identified as Lane Graves of Elk Horn, Nebraska. 

Lane's father Matt Graves wrestled with the 5-7 foot alligator in a desperate attempt to save his son, but both alligator and boy disappeared into the Seven Seas Lagoon. His mother Melissa Graves also darted into the water in an unsuccessful rescue attempt. The boy’s four-year-old sister was inside a play pen on the beach. Orange County sheriff Jerry Demings said he and a Catholic priest had informed the family that the boy's body had been recovered near where he vanished and was completely intact...

Off Duty Police Officer Finds Toddler Wandering The Street And Discovers Her Mother Had Died Unbeknownst To The Child

An unnamed, off duty police officer in England's Burton upon Trent, saw a toddler wandering the street. The officer, who was off duty and driving in his car with his wife, asked the toddler where she was going, to which the child replied, "I am going to nursery. I can't wake mummy up."

The police officer took the toddler back to her home and discovered her mother had passed away. The toddler's mother, 30-year-old Nicolla Rushton had died, under circumstances police are not treating as suspicious. It is heartbreaking nonetheless.

10:30, 13 Jan 2016 - This is the first picture of a tragic mum found dead after her little girl was seen wandering alone and told a PCSO, "I'm going to nursery, I can't wake mummy up". Nicolla Rushton, 30, from Shobnall, Burton upon Trent, was found dead in her home after the off-duty officer was led back to her home by the little girl. The off-duty officer, who has not been named, was driving with his wife when he spotted the toddler in Shobnall, Burton upon Trent, last Wednesday.

He approached her to ask her where she was going and she replied: “I am going to nursery. I can’t wake mummy up.” The girl then led him back to her home in Shobnall Road, where her mum, Nicolla Rushton, 30, was discovered dead. The heartbreaking details emerged today as it was revealed police were not treating the death of Ms Rushton as suspicious. Chief Inspector Steve Maskrey, from Staffordshire Police, has since praised his officer and said his actions showed police “are never off duty.”...

2-Year-Old Shoots And Kills Mother While Shopping

29-year-old Veronica J. Rutledge, was shot and killed in Blackfoot, Idaho, by her 2-year-old son, while shopping at a local Walmart in the electronics department. Rutledge had placed her son in a shopping cart while perusing the store. The toddler reached into her purse, took out her loaded gun and fired it in her direction. Rutledge was pronounced dead from the gunshot wound, in what is being labeled a tragic accident.

Dec 30, 2014, 9:15 PM ET - A young mother was shot and killed by her 2-year-old son today in an Idaho Walmart, police said. Lt. Stu Miller of the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said that the boy was sitting in the shopping cart when pulled the handgun from his mom's purse and pulled the trigger. Police identified the victim as Veronica J. Rutledge, 29, of Blackfoot, Idaho. The preliminary investigation shows the shooting was an accident, Miller said. Man Charged With Murdering Adrian Peterson's Son Free On Bail Angering The Public

Joseph Patterson, 27, the man arrested for murdering the 2-year-old son of NFL football star Adrian Peterson, has been set free on $750,000 bond. Too be fair, the judge set the bail fairly high in the case, but the child killer, who should not be free, as he is a danger to the public, was able to meet it. Many have taken to the internet to post their anger at Patterson's release.

Peterson's son, Tyrese, was a beautiful little boy. He was laid to rest in a private funeral this month. Peterson has expressed his sorrow over not having known his son, who he just found out about weeks before he died. He stated he apologized to his dying boy at the hospital stating "Daddy is sorry" he was not there for him. What a tragedy it is to have to bury a child. Most do not anticipate something so sad happening, but it has to many.

3-Year-Old Boy Mauled To Death By Wild Dogs At Pittsburgh Zoo

 

Yesterday, a three year old toddler was mauled to death by 11 African Painted dogs, after he fell into the enclosure at the Pittsburgh Zoo in Pennsylvania. Zoo employees were unable to reach the boy until it was too late.

Police were forced to shoot and kill one of the most aggressive dogs that would not back away from the child. Head of the Pittsburgh Zoo, Barbara Baker stated, "The keepers tried everything they could do. They responded immediately when visitors alerted them to the fact that a child was in the yard."

This horrific, preventable tragedy will undoubtedly result in lawsuits, which are richly deserved for this safety and security lapse. This zoo needs to be shutdown until it is truly safe, lest another tragedy occurs. The Judiciary Report sends its sincerest condolences to the little boy's family.

Some suspect beautiful little Caylee was given a large dose of chloroform to put her to sleep, while her mom Casey went out and partied, as her grandmother refused to baby-sit.

Thanks to Casey not reporting Caylee missing for an entire month, then disposing the toddler's body in a completely disrespectful manner, via tossing her lifeless little frame in the bushes, where animals began to feed on her remains, the prosecution in her murder trial, were unable to establish the manner in which she died. Out of respect for Caylee, the Anthony family should not be given any compensation for any interviews.

Yet, news has leaked that Casey Anthony wants $1.5 million and her parents snickered at a $250,000 offer to tell their stories on television, wanting more. It really is not right. Since when does society reward such behavior. People are outraged, yet Hollywood continues to make financial offers to the dysfunctional Anthony family, disrespecting Caylee's memory and the public's wishes.

Former Florida inmate, Casey Anthony, walked free from prison, after 3- years of incarceration, over the death of her 2-year-old toddler, Caylee Anthony. Though Casey was acquitted of murder, most believe wrongfully so and protesters were waiting outside the correctional facility to let her know it. Her two year old daughter Caylee, reportedly drowned, yet rather than report it, which is the standard procedure in such cases, Casey deposed of the body in the bushes.

Due to significant decomposition, the coroner's office could not properly determine the cause of death. Therefore, the public is not completely sure if Caylee was murdered or did indeed drown as Casey claims. However, due to her mother's unorthodox disposal of the body, it is natural for the public to think foul play was involved.

Regrettably, in Florida and other regions of the world surrounded by water, there are a number of drowning deaths each year, particularly where children are concerned, as they are attracted to water and do not fully comprehend the dangers that exist.

However, most people call emergencies services, in America 911, to report such drowning deaths. They do not secretly place the body in a bag and toss it into the woods. People give their pets burials with more dignity, than what was afforded to little Caylee, who did not deserve this.

Yesterday, former British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown is not only accusing Rupert Murdoch's News of the World of hacking, wiretapping and illegally accessing his banking information, he is also leveling allegations at two of the company's other newspapers, The Sunday Times and The Sun (UK).

Brown stated this week, former News of the World and Sun (UK) editor, Rebekah Brooks of News International, illegally accessed his sick baby's medical records, then menacingly called him at 10 Downing Street, to say she knew his son was ill with cystic fibrosis and would be printing excerpts from the criminally obtained files, in an exclusive story to millions of newspaper readers. That is despicable. It confirms what the Judiciary Report stated three months ago, regarding News International (News Corp) accessing children's medical records, in a story the site broke first (Mr. Murdoch, Your Viagra Prescription Is Ready)

To threaten and intimidate a sitting Prime Minister is a serious crime. She is either extremely arrogant from bribing police officers or just plain psychotic (or both). Brown did not press charges. However, that could not have been me. Before she hung up the phone I would have had the police at her door firing off a list of charges and informing her why she would be placed under the prison.

Pop singer, George Michael, who was arrested for using marijuana while driving, also accused Brooks of inviting herself to his home in London and during a tense conversation, informing him that the company she works for, News International (News Corp), bribes the police for information (and to get away with crime).

One officer involved in the scandal, is said to have made $160,000 per year, illegally giving News International scoops, protected police information and blocking cases against them. The press expects several officers to be arrested in connection with the case.

Two of Murdoch's private investigators, Glenn Mulcaire (top) and Jonathan Rees (bottom) are no strangers to breaking the law. The latter was charged with murdering another gay man using an axe.

As many of you who read the site regularly may recall, The Sun (UK) is the primary newspaper, along with parent company News Group Newspapers (News International), that I made a formal complaint against in October 2005, with the Metropolitan Police in London, for illegal hacking and wiretapping, among other things, in conjunction with Madonna (thus throwing them under the proverbial bus and breaking the story first). Murdoch admitted guilt years later.

Madonna's pal, Victoria Newton, is one of the worst snoops in the scandal, who wrote for the Sun UK for years. She worked under Brooks (nee Wade), a key figure in the criminal misconduct, directing the invasive crimes on Murdoch's orders. Newton knows where a lot of the proverbial bodies are buried.

The phone and internet are an integral part of modern life. However, News Corp, among others, have people scared to use their mobile phones and their email boxes, for fear their sensitive and personal information, from medical records to business data, will be illegally accessed and printed in one of Murdoch's papers or broadcast on Sky in Britain or Fox News in America, without permission. No one should be able to hold the public hostage in this manner. It's just plain sick.

Brown accuses two more Murdoch titles

Tuesday, 12 July 2011 - ...Illegal attempts were made by a "blagger" apparently working for The Sunday Times to access Mr Brown's account from the Abbey National bank in 2000. In a letter to The Sunday Times' editor John Witherow, Abbey National's senior lawyer wrote: "On the basis of facts and inquiries, I am drawn to the conclusion that someone from The Sunday Times or acting on its behalf has masqueraded as Mr Brown for the purpose of obtaining information from Abbey National by deception."

Separately a tape obtained by the BBC showed a "blagger" identified as Barry Beardall seeking, also in 2000, to trick Mr Brown's solicitors Allen & Overy into handing over details of the amount he paid for a flat in Westminster owned by one of Robert Maxwell's companies. A story claiming that Mr Brown had underpaid for the flat by up to £30,000 was the subject of a story in the paper.

In another case, in October 2006, Rebekah Brooks, then editor of The Sun, contacted the Browns, informing them that she had obtained medical details about their four-year-old son Fraser. The Sun subsequently published a story stating that Fraser had cystic fibrosis.

Friends of the Browns said Ms Brooks' call caused them considerable distress, as they were seeking to come to terms with the diagnosis, which had not been confirmed. Police are thought to have evidence that the News of the World's private investigator Glenn Mulcaire had targeted Mr Brown and his wife, Sarah. In a statement, the Browns said: "We are shocked by the scale of law-breaking and intrusion into our private lives."...

Caylee Anthony, the 2-year-old daughter of Casey Anthony, 25, died under very suspicious circumstances, with her body tossed in the woods, as if not worthy of a respectful burial. The case has left the world appalled.

From the start, her mother Casey willfully lied to the police about what happened to the beautiful little girl, showing no remorse or sadness for her missing child that was later discovered dead, with animals chewing on her remains. She did not even report the little girl missing.

Strands of the 2-year-old's hair, duct tape, the presence of chloroform and evidence that a decomposing body was present, were found in the trunk (boot) of Anthony's car. Anthony and her boyfriend also discussed chloroform online, a potent substance used in kidnappings to render victims unconscious.

Anthony behaved psychotically, as though she did not have a care in the world when her child passed, like she was free of a massive burden. In a blow that would have devastated the average parent, Anthony decided it was time to go out and party (literally).

Yesterday, when Anthony was acquitted of murder, she broke out into a big smile, which infuriated many. A woman that should have been grieving for her child, was grinning in court and it was a jarring, disturbing sight. Like just about everything else with Anthony's conduct, it just doesn't seem right.

Her lack of remorse or grief is what is fueling death threats online. People are furious. The Judiciary Report does not believe Anthony is blameless in the death of her child and she needs to seek the Lord's forgiveness. Anthony could have turned her daughter over to the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and they would have taken care of her. Little Caylee did not have to meet such a sad end.

Radar Online has released a report stating, disgraced actress and Kabbalah member, Lindsay Lohan, hit a nanny in West Hollywood, who was pushing a stroller (pram) containing a toddler. The nanny was in shock and the little girl was bawling, after Lohan reportedly clipped them with her Maserati, during an illegal turn on a red light.

For the past week, the Judiciary Report has been stating, Lohan is back to her old reckless ways. Once again, she really was better off staying in jail and rehab the full six months the judge ordered. Nothing good will come of this early release.

In what was an extraordinarily poor judicial ruling, Judge Rolf M. Treu, decreed a dubious decision against a slain 19-month-old toddler, Suzie Pena, in favor of the Los Angles Police Department, who killed the child, through criminal negligence in a shoot out.

Her father was drunk and high, whilst holding her hostage. The LAPD stormed the room and began firing at him, also killing the child. The toddler's mother, Lorena Lopez, argued they could have reasoned with him more, rather than shoot, which I agree with.

If the father's bullet had killed the child, the liability on the Los Angeles Police Department would be significantly less. As it stands, a FBI/SWAT member's bullet killed the toddler, therefore they are culpable. They fired 160 shots at this drunken man and his toddler. Something terrible was bound to happen.

This case constitutes a clear incident of wrongful death. The most her father was guilty of is child endangerment and kidnapping. I struggle to comprehend how any judge could rule against an injured or deceased child and their family. It gives the appearance of outright corruption and lack of compassion.

Reason it away anyway you'd like, if you lost your child due to a gun fight from FBI/SWAT, where like in many car chases that endanger others, they could have relented for public safety, you would want the culprits brought to justice and be legally compelled to pay fines in court, as punishment for your loss. Some people only care when the tragedy befalls them.

Judge dismisses suit filed by mother of toddler killed by LAPD bullet [Updated]

11:08 AM | August 3, 2009 - In a victory for the Los Angeles Police Department, a judge this morning threw out a lawsuit filed against the city of Los Angeles by the mother of a 19-month-old toddler who was shot and killed by a bullet from SWAT officers during an attempted hostage rescue in 2005.

The case before L.A. Superior Court Judge Rolf M. Treu was set to go to the jury this week after SWAT officers and police experts completed their testimony.

But Treu this morning granted the city's motion to dismiss the case, saying a jury could only reach one conclusion: that the officers acted reasonably.

Attorneys for Lorena Lopez, mother of 1 1/2-year-old Suzie Pena, argued in the trial that officers should have retreated and negotiated further with Raul Pena, who was delirious on alcohol and cocaine and holding his daughter hostage in the office of his car dealership on July 10, 2005.

The city contended that officers attempted the rescue in the best tactical way possible, and that the baby's father was the only one to blame for her death because he repeatedly held her as a shield during the hours-long standoff...
