Pebbles Scores Legal Victory In Defamation Case Regarding VH1 Movie 'CrazySexyCool:The TLC Story' As Judge States Case Can Proceed

Pebbles

Singer/songwriter Pebbles, real name Perri Reid, scored a legal victory in her defamation case against cable network, VH1 and its parent company, Viacom, who are the makers of the 2013 television movie "CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story." The judge in the case ruled the defamation case can go forward to trial. The defendants are taking a big risk not settling with Pebbles, who has sued them for $40,000,000.

Pebbles is the former founder and manager of the most successful female singing group in history, TLC. The VH1 network made a television movie of the group's life that drew 5,000,000 viewers in its first airing. Subsequent re-airings were viewed by millions more people. The defamation was widespread and made Pebbles the brunt of hateful, threatening comments on social networking and disparaging articles in the press and blogosphere.

TLC, L.A. Reid and Pebbles in the 1990s

The film was told from the perspective of the group, who had fallen out with Pebbles years prior, over a contract dispute. Pebbles named the group, trademarked it, auditioned girls to be members and put hundreds of thousands of dollars into making them a success. Pebbles, who was at the top of the charts at the time, also used her music industry contacts to get TLC the best producers, songwriters, video directors and choreographers. Without Pebbles, there would not have been a TLC.

Pebbles gave the group standard industry contracts all new artists get. However, TLC accused Pebbles of robbing them, which was demonstrably false and later denied by her ex-husband, L.A. Reid, one of the co-founders of LaFace Records, the label the group recorded for during the prime years of their collective career.

TLC's television movie "CrazySexyCool"

L.A. Reid recently stated what the Judiciary Report has maintained from 2013 regarding Clive Davis' Arista Records/BMG reaping the lion's share of the money from TLC (and other recording artists). Reid stated in February 2016, "In fairness to her (Pebbles), she doesn't collect the money from record sales. Record companies do that. At that point, we were in a joint venture with Arista and BMG. So if Pebbles is accused of not paying TLC, then that means that I didn't pay her, which means that they didn't pay me."

The movie was billed as a true story, not the standard "based on a true story" or a fictionalized retelling of events, which would grant some poetic license and let viewers know the film contains fiction. Upon viewing the film, there were historical inaccuracies and lies. Key details unflattering to TLC were also left out of the television biopic. The 40-plus page Pebbles lawsuit listed 15 lies and inconsistencies in the movie, illustrating she was defamed. For example, lies contained in the movie are Pebbles and TLC had the same lawyer and she controlled the attorney, the group were only paid $25.00 per week, Pebbles fired Chilli, T-Boz told Pebbles she had Sickle Cell prior to signing her contract and asked her to put money before her health, Pebbles did not furnish them with a copy of their contracts, Pebbles was aware Chilli had an abortion and was involved in her decision to do so. It's crazy that they lied like this for a film.

Pebbles

VH1 and Viacom even made a retraction stating the film was not a true story but "fictionalized" version of events. However, to those who watched the film, it was billed as a true story. Pebbles was greatly damaged by the public hatred and illegal threats directed at her the moment the film aired. VH1 and Viacom needs to be financially penalized, via punitive damages, for being reckless in what pushed Pebbles into a deep depression.

You shouldn't play with people's lives like that because you feel you are in a position of authority to film something that's been sensationalized and is not in keeping with the truth. Pebbles and TLC had their differences, but the movie was an inaccurate and unfair retelling of what transpired. No due diligence was done, as business records in the State of Georgia, court documents from TLC's bankruptcy and the second filing of group member Tionne Watkins (T-Boz), as well as label contracts they have in their possession could have been used to develop a clearer picture of what transpired. A deposition in Pebbles' defamation lawsuit revealed the filmmakers relied solely on T-Boz and Chilli's word on what transpired and used it wholesale in the movie without fact checking.

Clive Davis and L.A. Reid. Music industry experts know, Davis is the one who made the lion's share of the money off TLC. However, Pebbles was made the scapegoat.

The movie conveniently left out Atlanta radio station reports of an argument between TLC member Chilli and Pebbles over her cheating with then husband L.A. Reid. The film was not properly researched nor did it use independent industry insiders who could have given an accurate picture of what was the standard in the music industry at the time.

Former TLC member, the late Left Eye, real name Lisa Lopes, went on to start her own production label, emulating what Pebbles had done with her company Pebbitone. Ironically, Lopes gave TLC look and sound alike group, Blaque, the same type of deal Pebbles had given TLC. It speaks volumes. The same type of record deal is in use in the music industry today.

TLC today is Chilli (left) and T-Boz (right)

In other TLC news, the group is still being slammed over collecting nearly $500,000 in donation money on Kickstarter to make a new album, that is two years later. Many people donated to the effort and nothing had materialized (R&B Group TLC Slammed On Twitter For Collecting $430,000 In Donations For An Album That Has Not Materialized).

Additionally, the music industry is not what it once was in many ways. It is likely difficult for TLC to get the type of material they are used to from the days at LaFace. I think TLC may have taken on too much, especially with Watkins battling Sickle Cell Anemia. It's great to make an album, but it can get stressful under the wrong circumstances.

Perri ‘Pebbles’ Reid to proceed with $40M Viacom suit

September 19, 2016 | 3:48am - An Atlanta federal judge has ruled that R&B act TLC’s creator and former manager Perri “Pebbles” Reid can proceed with a case to sue Viacom for allegedly defaming her in a 2013 VH1 biopic, “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.” Viacom filed a motion last year stating Reid had no case, but the judge ruled against it Thursday. Reid signed the band in 1991, and TLC went on to become one of the biggest-selling female acts, with hits like “Waterfalls.” They later filed for bankruptcy, and the film claims Reid only paid the group $25 a week. Reid is seeking $40 million in damages.

Her lawyer Stacey Godfrey Evans told us: “We are thrilled with this major win against Viacom and look forward to justice . . . Ms. Reid worked hard to ensure the success of TLC, and she is ready to present that story to a jury. The negative portrayal of her in the TLC movie is simply not the truth.”...

Momma Dee Angry At Tweets Insulting Her Sex Scene With Husband Ernest On 'Love And Hip Hop Atlanta'

Momma Dee

On the latest episode of the reality show "Love And Hip Hop Atlanta" 52-year-old aspiring rapper, Momma Dee, started getting intimate with her husband Ernest. VH-1 included said scene that provoked a variety of reactions on Twitter.com, as it featured Momma Dee rubbing and licking Ernest's nipples. It was too much. Most were in shock this scene was on television.

Momma Dee's tweets on Twitter in response to criticism on the site over her sex scene on "Love And Hip Hop Atlanta"

Some people on Twitter made jokes about the scene, while others complained stating the couple is "too old" to be engaging in such graphic conduct on television. Momma Dee was hurt and upset by public reaction on social networking and fired off a series of tweets in response to what she read. The main item she posted on Twitter stated, "Me and my husband was not trying to have sex people...its reality television! Y'all don't see no shower rods! Sex is better after 50 anyways."

A sampling of public reaction on Twitter

If people want to have sex at 50, 60 or even age 90, that's their business. However, the scene featuring Momma Dee and Ernest was inappropriate for viewing on VH-1 and at a respectable hour. Many young people watching the show were shocked to see them engaging in foreplay. Momma Dee is a lovely woman and Ernest is a nice looking man, but they need to use discretion next time and not agree to that type of graphic scene.

Side Bar: Do you guys remember when Momma Dee's dentures flew out. She'd make a decent comedic actress (LOL).

Rihanna Copyright Infringement Scandal Regarding Song 'B***h Better Have My Money' Spreads All Over The World

Rihanna (left) and Just Brittany (right). Hmm, she looks like her too in another Rihanna reinvention.

The story of singer Rihanna stealing her latest song “B***h Better Have My Money” from Houston singer/rapper, Just Brittany, is spreading around the world press like wildfire. The story has now been carried on The Daily Maily (UK), ET (Canada), Cosmopolitan, MTV, VH1, Billboard, The Fader, Complex and just about every major blog online. Other articles appeared in the Spanish and French press, outing Rihanna for theft.

Many are doubting Rihanna regarding this theft, which is one of many for her, in a career based in criminal copyright infringement, copyright infringement, trademark infringement, financial fraud and grand theft larceny. Nothing about her career is real. From day one it has been based on intellectual property theft.

The Judiciary Report has written for years that Rihanna is doing the same thing other so-called artists in Hollywood's Kabbalah Center have been doing, taking to the internet and ripping off lesser known artists. Her whole career has been one big theft, which says she should not have been famous at all.

Some of Rihanna’s fans are trying to defend this madness and they need their heads checked. Copyright infringement is a federal and international crime. It is just as bad as stealing someone’s money, house or car. A few of Rihanna’s unbalanced fans on social networking are using the standard no one knows who she is insult, regarding Just Brittany, as a weak means of trying to mitigate the damage to Rihanna's name and career over the theft. However, the cat is already out of the bag. People know.

It’s quite ironic and humorous that a few crazed fans, who are unknown and without big social networking following, should ask who is Just Brittany, regarding a woman who has 60,000 followers on Twitter and 300,000 on Instagram. Just Brittany has recorded a number of songs, charted on Billboard three times and worked with mainstream artists like foul, rape promoting rapper Rick Ross. Sorry to break it to you, many people, including Rihanna, know who Just Brittany is as an artist.

Rihanna

It’s similar to when they questioned who is Karrueche Tran, regarding singer Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend he clung to more than Rihanna, whom he dated, when Tran has 2,500,000 followers on Instagram and 600,000 on Twitter and has made many paid public appearances and appeared in the news media.

My question to these few crazy, unbalanced Rihanna fans is what newspapers, magazines and blogs have you been featured in? What songs have you recorded? What music videos have you been in? Yea, that’s what I thought. Humble yourselves and stop trying to defend the indefensible - theft of another person's property and labor. You wouldn't like it if a thief showed up on your job and snatched then cashed your paycheck. Therefore, why are you asking another to accept such illegal behavior.

Know when to be silent...much like your thieving favorite Rihanna has been doing, despite the world media demanding she answer these claims of outright theft any reasonable person can hear. For Rihanna’s part, this silence on global allegations she stole from underground artist Just Brittany says a lot. To those who know, write and or understand music, the thefts are apparent. If you run the songs through music recording software, the distinct similarities become crystal clear in irrefutable digital format, which compares the songs note for note.

All Rihanna's team did was slow down Just Brittany's beat. The song title is negligible as it comes from a 1980s film. However, copyright law does not permit anyone to steal a beat and slow it down, poach melodies, lyrics and song subject matter. If you don't know music theory, you are in no position to state no theft has occurred, when the similarities are there.

Just Brittany has a case should she choose to pursue one in court and the mere fact she spoke out on social networking says she is angry over the blatant theft of her intellectual property. However, rumors I am hearing indicate Rihanna wants to pay her off over the embarrassing, deliberate thefts in exchange for her silence, as this scandal has done a significant amount of damage to Rihanna’s name as a recording artist.

Warning: Both songs contain explicit, graphic lyrics

TMZ has blamed Mayweather for the murder suicide stating he riled up his friend, Hayes, who was hurt and upset over his wife, Moseley, having cheated on him with R&B singer, Trey Songz, among others. Mayweather refuted TMZ's claims and told police he was trying to calm his friend down. TMZ stated police asked Mayweather, "Why Hayes called him at 7 AM. Mayweather said it was because they were best friends and Hayes was trying to say goodbye."

Ironically, with all the material things Mosely and Hayes flaunted on social networking, there is no money to bury the couple. As a result, Moseley's family has been soliciting donations online. Thus far they have raised several thousand dollars. If funds continue to be low, maybe Mayweather will contribute to funeral expenses.

Trey Songz Outed As The Singer Married 'Hit The Floor' Star Stephanie Moseley Was Cheating With Leading To Murder Suicide By Earl Hayes That Floyd Mayweather Witnessed On Facetime

Trey Songz is known as "Mr. Steal Your Girl" after his song of the same name

Today news broke that R&B singer, Trey Songz, is the man who had an affair with Stephanie Moseley, the star of copyright infringing show "Hit The Floor", leading her husband rapper, Earl Hayes, to shoot her to death in a hail of bullets and then turn the gun on himself. Songz is famous for the tune called "Mr. Steal Your Girl" and many are stating life imitated art and turned deadly for Moseley and Hayes as a result.

Trey Songz tweet about Stephanie Moseley

It is being stated Hayes never got over Moseley cheating with Songz. Adultery is a terrible wound to those cheated on in marriage. People need to think twice before they cheat on their spouse. Don't hurt them like that. On the same note, people thinking of cheating with married individuals need to refrain from said conduct. That is someone's union you are destroying. There are so many single people out there. Find one! Leave married people alone. It has its spiritual consequences. God will forgive you, but it brings bad things into your life. In life, you shouldn't do something unethical just because you can.

Trey Songz

The the Judiciary Report would be remiss if the site also did not state, if you are having trouble in your relationship as a non-married person or in your marriage, violence is not the answer to your problems. It never works. Control your temper. Go somewhere and cool off. Keep things in perspective. Assault, battery, murder and or suicide is not going to improve the situation, only make it worse. Never become hopeless. Keep your head up.

Floyd Mayweather, Earl Hayes and Stephanie Moseley

The murder suicide happened as Hayes was on the social networking app with boxer, Floyd Mayweather, who witnessed the grisly incident. Hayes was a member of Mayweather's Money Team collective. People are now trying to encourage the boxer to stay strong after what he witnessed. Mayweather is going to need therapy after witnessing such a thing. He already had emotional problems from his disagreements with his dad, Floyd Mayweather Sr., then ex-fiancée, Shantel Jackson aborted his twins and lied to him that he caused her to have a miscarriage by stressing her out.

Hit The Floor

That's a lot for a person to deal with and over a short period of time. He began lashing out at people, who had not done anything to him, representing repressed feelings of anger he has not dealt with from various traumas. Therapy would be beneficial in this case. A good therapist can help him work these issues out privately. He doesn't have to tell anyone he's seeking a therapist, just go get the help. Often just talking things out with someone is a big help.

Masika and Yung Berg

Rapper turned producer, Yung Berg, has been fired from the reality show "Love And Hip Hop Hollywood" which launched this past fall. Berg beat up his girlfriend, co-star, Masika Tucker, after his credit card was declined at a bar. Masika told Berg she paid the bill, which has some people wondering if she charged items to his card. Berg beat, choked and dragged her by her hair when they returned to his hotel room.

Chris Brown Is Released From Jail And Is Coming Home To Karrueche Tran...And Rihanna

Chris Brown has a trial coming up in Washington but is free for the next few months

R&B singer Chris Brown has been released from L.A. County jail after spending months behind bars on a probation violation stemming from the 2009 Rihanna domestic violence case. Brown, who lives in the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, will be coming home to girlfriend Karrueche Tran...and on-and-off girlfriend Rihanna, who has bought a house in his neighborhood in anticipation of his release.

Chris Brown and Rihanna reunited and broke up again last year

My very credible sources responsible for some of my exclusives insist Rihanna wants Chris Brown back and is making a move for him, pardon the pun. Her fans, record label and management hate it, but she is determined. This spells trouble for Karrueche Tran, whom Rihanna hates for stealing Brown's heart. Tran, who has her own apartment, lived with Brown from time to time and referred to his Hollywood Hills mansion as home.

Karrueche Tran

With Rihanna in the neighborhood, keeping an eye on Brown and looking for an in back to him, this will get messy again. Recently, VH1 characterized Tran as a "side chick" but Rihanna is acting like one circling Brown again, knowing Tran is his girlfriend. I was informed Rihanna really misses Chris Brown and wants him back. It's sounding more desperate than ever.

Side Bar: you guys know Chris Brown is craving chicken wings after months in jail (LOL).
