Men Have Hope Because The Friendzone Is Not A Permanent Situation Or Status

You're in the friend zone

The internet refers to the friendzone as a place where typically a man is romantically attracted to a woman, who only views him as a friend. Men find this frustrating and sad, especially when they have strong feelings for the woman. However, these relationships do not always remain platonic, so men have hope.

For example, in my aunt Lorna Goodison's award winning book "From Harvey River" which is about the history of our family, there is a humorous true story about how my grandparents met. My late grandmother was a beautiful woman. She had long, black curly hair, light brown eyes and an olive complexion (not to mention, big breasts, which is probably what granddad saw first LOL).

Wow, she's hanging her purse around his neck (LOL)

When my virginal grandmother was an of age teenager, she thought she was alone at the river running through the town her English grandfather founded and built up. She took off her dress and went swimming in the river in her underwear and bra. Custom in the town was if a male saw a woman swimming in the river alone they were not to enter. My grandpa, being a city slicker not from that town, didn't know and after she had been swimming in the river for a while, he saw her from a distance and walked up to the bank of the river (he didn't go in the river).

Then he tried to speak to her, not stating anything crude or disrespectful. And do you know what her first words were to him..."Go away!" That's not even the friendzone. That's the get-away-from-me zone (LOL). She was trying to protect her virginity and reputation.

People heard her complaining and the story got back to her parents, who went to him, giving him a stern talking to about it. However, shortly after they became friends, began dating, got married and brought 9 children into this world. Therefore, once again, men, don't give up. The friendzone isn't always permanent.

Movie Review: Dark Tide

Title: Dark Tide

Year Of Release: 2012

Review Date: September 30, 2012

Rating: PG-13

Running time: 94 minutes

Box Office Gross: $432,274

Site Rating: 5 out of 10 stars

Halle Berry stars as Kate Mathieson, a woman who swims with great white sharks, until tragedy causes her to back away from the dangerous practice. However, an offer she can't refuse leads her back into the shark infested waters of South Africa, things become dangerous again.

This movie was different from anything Berry had done before and has an indie vibe to it. She was mostly believable in the role, but at times the movie seemed to go off script and started to look like a documentary. It was aiming for "Jaws" but didn't have that epic feel.

Gold Medalist Swimmers Ryan Lochte And Michael Phelps Say They Pee In The Pool

Ryan Lochte (center)

In a comical twist to the swimming segment of the London 2012 Olympics, gold medalist, Ryan Lochte stated he pees in the pool when he swims. His teammate, Michael Phelps, backed him up stating they all do, but the chlorine kills the urine. Talk about peeing your way to success.

Leave it to American Idol host Ryan Seacrest to ask such a low brow question. Lochte stated, "Of course. We always do. Not during the races, but I sure did before in warm-up. There's something about getting into chlorine water that you just automatically go."

Michael Phelps and Megan Rossee

In other related news, Michael Phelps stepped out with his pretty new girlfriend, Megan Rossee. Will it be Megan Phelps? Who knows. They do make a very nice looking couple. They seem to be quite smitten with each other. You go girl!

Speaking of Lochte, he was photographed leaving a nightclub with two women. Many online have stated he looks drunk in the pictures and I agree. It doesn't matter where you are in the world, that is a very risky practice. Having sex while inebriated and with strangers can result in pregnancies or worse.

Lochte stated before the Olympics, "My last Olympics, I had a girlfriend — big mistake. Now I'm single, so London should be really good. I'm excited." His mother also told the press that her son is into "one night stands." She stated, "He goes out on one-night stands. He's not able to give fully to a relationship because he's always on the go." Lochte needs to find himself a nice woman and settle down, because being promiscuous is dangerous.

Diver At The 2012 Olympics Completely And Hilariously Wipes Out

 When Diving Goes Wrong

Germany's Stephan Feck gracefully walked to the diving board, ready to do what he had practiced for years, a gracious dive that would wow crowds at the 2012 Olympics in London. But it was not to be. In life, sometimes things don't go according to plan. This was one of those times.

Stephan Feck

Feck leapt into the air, but lost control like a bird hitting a glass wall, crashing into the pool back first (hey, I can do that). Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the back flop. Aw that had to hurt. Cheer up. It wasn't so bad (yes, it was). The video has gone viral.

Stephan Feck's epic wipeout scored all zeros

Side Bar: I'm just teasing you, Mr. Feck. Hopefully things will go better for you next time. In all honesty, yours was my favorite dive of the entire competition (for all the wrong reasons). As a woman from the nation that gave the world the Jamaican Bobsled team (it wasn't always gold medals with Bolt and Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce), I encourage you to look at it this way. The Jamaican Bobsled Team wiped out like you did, but parlayed it into lucrative endorsement deals and a hit film, becoming the most famous group in the sport. Think about that and get yourself an agent.
