"Orange County" is a tacky teen film, about a young man named, Shaun, struggling to get into sought after school, Stanford University, to study under his favorite author, who is an English professor at said college.

All that stands between him and Stanford, is not intelligence or money, as he has both, it's his certifiably crazy family, who should be institutionalized. Shaun, his girlfriend and stoner brother, set out on a journey to get him into Stanford, where everything goes wrong.

This MTV film missed the mark and set a bad example for teens and twenty something students in university or planning to go there. It was salacious, scatterbrained and without any redeeming value.

When Community College Goes Wrong

My godbrother goes to an esteemed Florida university and plays on the football team. Recently, a student from a neighboring community college (university) explained what happened when a professor finished speaking and opened a discussion up to debate.

The topic of the debate was the BP oil crisis and a black student, tired of Obama being bashed by the professor, stated of the President, "What do you want the ni**a to do, put on snorkels, go into the sea and plug the bi**h himself!" Oh dear. Do remember that the next time you decide to cut educational funding (grants to community colleges).

Scientist Dies Of Plague

A few months ago, the Judiciary Report wrote of the dangers of scientific lab work and contaminants that can kill researchers/scientists.

Professor Malcolm Casadaban

A few days ago, Professor Malcolm Casadaban, died while experimenting on a CDC approved sample of the Bubonic plague. Talk about taking your work home with you. One of four things happened:

1.) A contaminant got into his system via an unavoidable accident.

2.) A contaminant got into his system via not observing proper lab procedures and protocols.

3.) A contaminant got into his system via a third party.

4.) Hypotheses 1-3 are wrong.

Bacteria that causes the plague

September 19, 2009 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- There was word Saturday that the death of a University of Chicago scientist may be linked to a bacteria that causes the plague.

The researcher, who died Sunday, studied the genetics of harmful bacteria, including a weakened strain of yersinia pestis.

The weakened strain does not require the safety precautions associated with working on virulent strains. The modified strain of "y-pestis" has been approved by the Centers for Disease Control for routine laboratory studies, and it is not known to cause illness in healthy adults.
