"The Sorcerer's Apprentice" starring Nicholas Cage, is an unoriginal movie that tried to capitalize on the "Harry Potter" film franchise. It also contained elements of other preexisting works. It revolves around a middle aged sorcerer named, Balthazar Blake, played by Cage, that takes on a Harry Potter-esque apprentice, Dave Stutler. They go through a series of corny magical tests, until they discover he is the one who is fit to be the next Merlin (*yawn*).

The funny thing is the studio spent a lot of money on this film and it bombed domestically. Worldwide sales brought up the tally, but for a film that cost $150,000,000 to make, plus $30,000,000 in promotional costs, it barely turned a profit for all that expenditure. Cage has released a string of unoriginal flops that cost him dearly. At the rate he is going, it shall costs him even more - his career and bank account.

One of the stars of the "Harry Potter" film franchise, Afshan Azad, was threatened by her brother, who warned "Marry a Muslim or die." This was in reaction to his sister dating a Hindu man she became attracted to, which in her family's estimation, goes against her Muslim upbringing.

Afshan's dad, Abdul Azad and her brother, Ashraf Azad, attacked the young, defenseless actress, who has furnished them with a very comfortable life in Manchester, England, from her film earnings. She was tossed across the room by the hair and repeatedly punched in the head and back.

The attempted murder bid was in response to the aforementioned relationship and it forced her to flee her own home through a window. Her dad and sibling were trying to perform an "honor killing" deeming the beautiful actress had disgraced them for dating outside Islam.

British actress, Afshan Azad, who has starred in "Harry Potter" films, was beaten and labeled a "prostitute" by her dad, Abdul Azad and brother, Ashraf Azad, for dating a non-Muslim. The pretty young actress, made a comfortable life for her family in Manchester, England, via her filmwork, but they became enraged when she began dating a Hindu man.

Her brother attacked her for allegedly being a "slut" and complained to their dad. During the attack, which is an attempted "honor killing" one of her brothers shouted "Just kill her." Wow! That must have devastated her. To have one's family turn on one like that is awful. Religion should never turn you against your family to the point killing them becomes an option. That is ungodly and wrong.

Azad's dad volunteered to kill her, to protect his sons, which prompted the young actress to flee through her bedroom window. Her dad and brother's conduct is violent, racist and constitutes unfair and cruel treatment of a young woman that embraced someone of another culture. Thankfully, she was not killed during the assault.

Azad's testimony was read in court today, in spite of the fact she tried to retract it, regarding what had to be a traumatic experience. It takes a lot to testify against one's own flesh and blood, which is clearly a difficult and conflicting decision. However, her family's conduct has to be reined in, as it poses a threat to her very life.

Victims are often torn over the prospect of sending family members to prison, when attempted or honor killings occur in the Muslim religion. Islam places next to no value on women and those that disobey its tenets, are thought to bring shame on the family, in acts worthy of death, to allegedly restore the clan's reputation and honor.

Western authorities simply do not know how to deal with such issues, as they provoke an incendiary response from Muslims. However, when one moves to a new country, one must learn to integrate and observe the laws of the land.

"Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince" is the six movie in the film series that sprang from the dark mind of J.K. Rowling, whose works a judge once labeled "Gibberish." Harry Potter, played by Daniel Radcliffe, finds a book of magic spells belonging to the "Half Blood Prince" and begins to use it, breeding trouble.

For a film generally marketed to small kids and teens, it certainly was violent, bloody and dark. Scenes of ungodly witchcraft permeate this film, as that is the entire concept of Harry Potter. It is easy to dismiss it as just a film, but so many of the scenes interspersed among the school banter, is not healthy for its audience's psyche. The devil is in the details.
