Banks are sitting on a fortune in taxpayer bailout money, yet continue to pretend they are broke and going under. Millions of Americans are being turned out of their homes and not being given the help they need. Banks could do more to forgive some of homeowners' mortgage debt.
As an additional alternative, add a few years to the life of mortgages, giving more repayment time, to account for any sums that were negatively accrued during foreclosure proceedings.
