Serena Williams Sixth Wimbledon Title Brings Racist Rhetoric

When Venus Williams and Serena Williams first hit the tennis circuit, they faced racism in select U.S. states. The worst incident occurred at the Indian Wells tournament in California, where Serena's father Richard Williams and her sister, Venus Williams, were booed, jeered and called "nig*er" and "nig*ers" by members of the crowd as they walked to their seats. One man in the crowd, who was among the individuals calling Richard a "nigger" also stated to him, "I wish it was 75, we'd skin you alive" (Los Angeles race riots occurred in 1975).

Serena was booed and jeered from the moment she walked out on the court, with racial slurs spewing from people in the crowd. The 2001 incident was so bad, the sisters vowed never to play Indian Wells again and did not for over a decade. Make no mistake, it was racism. People referring to you and your family as "ni*gers" is a clear indication of that. They should not have been subjected to such terrible treatment.

Derogatory, racially charged statements were made about them by opponent, Martina Hingis, who stated, "Many times they get sponsors because they are black. And they have had a lot of advantages because they can always say, 'it's racism.' They can always come back and say, 'Because we are this color, things happen'" and "I think they've been treated with kid gloves...People have been afraid to criticize them because they don't want to be called racist." In another interview Hingis stated people (in tennis) only let the Williams sisters get away with things because they are black. Coincidentally, Hingis was banned from tennis for two-years over using cocaine.

Fast-forward to this past weekend where Serena Williams won Wimbledon for the 6th time. Some were proud of her, but there were also negative, racially based statements made online. Race has no place in sports. There are gifted athletes of all races from many countries, who have done exceptionally well.

Serena Williams and Michael Jordan are black American athletes who have done very well in their chosen sport. Michael Phelps is a white American athlete who has done very well in his sport of swimming. Pele (Brazilian), Lionel Messi (Argentinean) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portuguese) are Latin men who have done very well in football (soccer). Stanley Matthews and  Bobby Charlton are white British football (soccer) players who are legends for having done well in their field. Usain Bolt is a black Jamaican sprinter, who has set many world records and won gold medals, doing very well in his sport.

The aforementioned individuals are a broad cross-section of people of different races and nations, who have excelled in sports. At the end of the day they are humans first and foremost. Sports is not about racial, national or global domination. It is supposed to be about athletes doing what they love and spectators enjoying the respective games.

Former pro-athlete, Grant Hill and his business partner, Tony Ressler, have purchased the Atlanta Hawks basketball team with their investment group. Hill, a graduate of Duke University, played for the NBA teams the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic during his tenure as a successful basketball player. The aforementioned athletes did not rely on basketball alone to earn their money and have numerous investments and businesses that are collectively worth $2 billion dollars. It’s nice to see hardworking people become businesspeople and rewarded for their efforts.

Legendary sportsmen such as Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali have emphasized the importance of confidence and believing in one's abilities as an athlete. It's not an arrogance or cockiness, but a calm, assured mind fixed on the task at hand - winning and becoming champion.

Michael Jordan stated "As strong as my legs are, it is my mind that has made me a champion." The statement was in reference to his will to win, confidence in his talents and the mental grit he often displayed playing through physically grueling situations, including sickness.

Muhammad Ali also famously stated "Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill, and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill." Translation, you have to want that win bad enough and hold the skill to make it happen.

Two quotes that share the same common message that many great athletes have espoused as apart of their game plan for victory - you have to believe you can win. You have to believe you are the best. It will motivate you to your best.

While natural athletic ability does play apart in it via genetics, how you train and what you are taught as an athlete does make a big difference as well. Well, this case got ugly really fast. A judge just slapped sex instructor, Pamela Smith, with a $10,000 fine for "lying" regarding the paternity of her son, Taj, via claiming in court papers his dad is basketball legend Michael Jordan. Smith sued Jordan for paternity. However, years ago paternity was established with Smith's ex-husband named as the father on the young man's birth certificate. Smith withdrew the lawsuit, then the judge dismissed it without prejudice, meaning it can be filed again.

Pamela Smith failed to compel the court to order Jordan to take a paternity test, as she hired a publicist, before a lawyer, which didn't look right. 

 

Jordan strenuously denied the claims and hired an attorney to counter them in court. When it was revealed Smith recently tried to remove her ex-husband's name from 27-year-old Taj's birth certificate, Jordan's lawyers entered the evidence into the court record. This resulted in the judge hitting her with a $10,000 fine to cover Jordan's legal fees and labeling her a liar for hiring a publicist before an attorney.

It is not currently known if Smith was paid by any publications for her story, as a number of bloggers reported turning her down when she sought to drum up press for it. Therefore, if she wasn't paid a tell-all fee and now has to pay $10,000 in legal fees to Jordan, she is up a creek.

I don't understand why any woman would point the finger at the wrong man regarding paternity. Though I do not live that way, in my estimation, it would be embarrassing enough to publicly admit one does not even know who the father of one's child is, due to the number of people in one's bed, but to guess and guess wrong...oh dear. That's embarrassing.

Most women don't want to be publicly disgraced like that - sexing so many people you don't know who the daddy is, isn't something to be proud of or "shout from the rooftops" as the phrase goes. When asked if he "saw a little bit of (Michael) Jordan in (Lebron) James performance" on the court, Hornets coach Monty Williams slyly stated, "(Michael) Jordan played against men. LeBron plays against young boys. That's the difference." In ways that statement is not fair.

There are many real men in the league, exhibiting a great level of athleticism. With advances in sports medicine, these men are in peak physical condition. James is playing phenomenally. He's a joy to watch on the court. Give credit where credit is due.

Michael Jordan Slams Claims Of A Settlement In Paternity Case With Aspiring Rapper's Mother

Estee Portnoy, the publicist for NBA basketball legend, Michael Jordan, has rubbished claims that he issued a settlement to sex instructor, Pamela Smith, in the paternity case she brought against him on behalf of her 16-year-old son and aspiring rapper "Taj Jordan." This week, Smith abruptly dropped her lawsuit, withdrawing her claims, giving no real explanation as to why.

Smith's attorney, Randall Kessler, referred to her as Michael Jordan's "ex-girlfriend" which was reaching. Jordan was married to Juanita Vanoy at the time of  the alleged affair and has not owned up to Smith's allegations. In fact, he threatened to sue her for libel and defamation.

Kessler stated regarding the voluntary withdrawal of the case, "Ex-Girlfriend of Michael Jordan, Ms. Pamela Smith authorized a dismissal of the current suit against Mr. Jordan. She began this case without an attorney, did her best to file what she believed to be a legally appropriate case. She then hired our firm. Our firm reviewed the legal posture of the case, the history of the case, the filed pleadings and the relevant law. Ms. Smith has relied on our advice, has carefully considered the pro’s and cons of continuing the case and has determined that dismissal at this time, without prejudice, is what is in her son’s best interests."

This is what the Judiciary Report was afraid of. A 16-year-old boy is now facing public scrutiny thanks to his mom's poor judgment in this matter. Furthermore, this incident has brought him no closer to having the rap career he desires, potentially damaging his chances to become a hip-hop star. Women, be responsible with your reproductive organs. There should be no question regarding the identity of the father of your child (unless it was a case of rape, which is very sad and tragic).

  Basketball fan and secret black man, Justin Bieber will be filing a paternity suit against Michael Jordan, whom he believes is his daddy, because as we all know, Bieber has crossed over...in the other direction and is now black. I'm just teasing. 

 

Well that didn't last long. The recently submitted paternity lawsuit filed by Pamela Smith in Atlanta, Georgia, on behalf of her son, 16-year-old Taj Jordan (real name: Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds) against former Chicago Bulls basketball player, Michael Jordan, has been voluntarily dismissed.

Smith dropped the lawsuit without explanation, after Jordan threatened to sue her for defamation of character and responded to the suit with the same. Last week, Smith stated Jordan refused to take a paternity test to settle the matter. However, abruptly dropping the case as though it has been settled or the allegation withdrawn due to lack of merit, leaves many questions unanswered. If you may an accusation that is truthful, you stand by it.

At the end of the day "Taj Jordan" deserves to know who his real father is and his mother is not acting in his best interest in this regard. No kid deserves that. The boy deserves to know the truth. Smith is a love instructor who teaches couples how to perform oral sex (yea, that'll look really good in court - not really).

In court documents filed with judge Besonetta Tipton Lane, famous for presiding over high profile marriage and custody cases regarding singer Usher and basketball player, Allen Iverson, Jordan denies all of Smith's claims and rejects her requests for financial support. Jordan has retained Usher's attorney.

Jordan referred to the case as an abuse of the legal system and further commented through his rep, "Public records show that the paternity of the child was established in a prior case in this same court many years ago and that Michael Jordan is not the father. He also filed a  counterclaim seeking sanctions for the false claims made against him. It is unfortunate that well-known figures are the target of these kind of claims. Michael Jordan will vigorously defend himself and his reputation."

I feel sorry for this kid, because if his mother has lied to him about the identity of his father, he is in for a world of embarrassment, ridicule, disappointment and emotional trauma. Women, be truthful with your children from the start. They at least deserve that.

18-year-old pop star and amateur basketball player, Justin Bieber, got a chance to meet NBA legend Michael Jordan, who is considered the top player ever. Bieber, like so many other men, lie to themselves that they can play as well as Jordan, so to finally meet him is the culmination of years of a number of delusional fantasies about their skills on the court (see: President Obama).

In celebration of Felix Baumgartner's historic space jump, the website Music Monday is asking "What Song Would You Choose for a Space Jump?" Me personally, I would choose the song "When The Saints Go Marching In." Then again, considering the theme of the Song is about dying, under the circumstances, I may want to reconsider that Song choice (joking).

The during the entire space jump I would be praying to Jesus telling Him I love him, but not to let me die yet, because I just paid my internet hosting bill, have more articles to write and experiments to finish ect. I can't help but think, if you have issues with bowel irregularity, a space jump would take care of that instantly. The minute you look down while jumping from up there, constipation would be a thing of the past (and so would you if you panicked).

Side Bar: wasn't there a song from the Michael Jordan movie "Space Jam" called "Space Jam." The title would be right for this occasion.

I could totally see James doing that. With the right amount of coaching and comedic timing, coupled with the right script, it could work. If not, you and Shaq can always team up for "Kazaam 2" (grin).

Former sprint star and gold medalist, Carl Lewis, issued controversial statements about Jamaica, criticizing the island nation's steroid screening program, due to the massive success of sprinters such as Usain Bolt. According to U.K. Sport, Lewis, who was cited three times for doping, but had each citation overturned in U.S. court, made inaccurate and incorrect statements about the nation of Jamaica by stating, "I think there are some issues. Countries like Jamaica do not have a random (drugs testing) program, so they can go months without being tested. I'm not saying anyone is on anything, but everyone needs to be on a level playing field. I'm not saying they've done anything for certain. I don't know. But how dare anybody feel that there shouldn't be scrutiny, especially in our sport?"

Lewis kept making disparaging comments from the time of the Beijing Olympics, escalating it, upset that Bolt had broken his record and began implying Jamaica had somehow found a magic steroid that had not been detected, which is untrue. Furthermore, Bolt was the most tested athlete at the Beijing and London Olympics.

Yesterday, Bolt finally responded to Lewis' comments during an interview. Bolt expressed admiration for U.S. Sprinting legend, Michel Johnson, but spoke of his disdain for Lewis' statements. Bolt stated, "I'm going to say something controversial right now. Carl Lewis, I have no respect for him. The things he says about the track athletes is really downgrading for another athlete to say something like that. I think he's just looking for attention, really, because nobody really talks much about him. That was really sad for me when I heard the other day what he was saying. It was upsetting. I've lost all respect for him. All respect."

When further questioned about his response, this prompted the fastest man alive, Bolt, to reveal the nature of Lewis' statements that had offended him, in the aforementioned interview yesterday. Bolt replied, "It was all about drugs. Talking about drugs. For me, an athlete out of the sport to be saying that. That was really upsetting for me. Really upsetting. To jump up and say something like that. As far as I'm concerned he's looking for attention. That's all."

I was disappointed that Lewis had made those statements. It would have been nice if he had just been happy for his fellow global sprinters that have done well. Bolt's rise and that of his teammates has advanced the sport, making it even more popular with a new generation. That should be one of the goals of every sport.

When you look at what newer stars such as Lebron James has done for basketball, Michael Phelps has done for swimming and Bolt has done for sprinting, among others, deceiving us all into thinking we can go out there and do the same and not fall flat on our faces (or end up with a busted lip because you falsely think you're Michael Jordan), as they've made it look so easy and fun, it's a good thing. Somewhere in that global group of admirers, future athletes are inspired to work hard and make it to the top as well. That doesn't deserve pessimism.

President Barack Obama was in Miami yesterday, begging for money via soliciting campaign donations and resentfully congratulating the Miami Heat, hating that his favorite team, the Chicago Bulls, did not win the NBA championships. Deal with it.

Obama kept calling the Miami Heat "the Miami Heats" which he knows is incorrect, as he is a basketball fan and likes to pretend he can play like NBA legend Michael Jordan, who played for the Chicago Bulls. Regarding the Heat, you know you’re doing something right when even the president is hating on you.

Miami shouldn’t give him any money for calling them the Heats (LOL). What if people in Miami decided to be smart alecks and start calling the team "the Chicago Bullses" or "the Chicago Bull" or referring to their top star Derek Rose, as Derek Roses - not to mention, rather than saying Obama, stating Baracks Obamas. New York Post columnist, Phil Mushnick, at racist Rupert Murdoch's News Corp, slammed rapper Jay-Z in terms being referred to as racist. Yes, racism still exists, but in this particular case, if Jay-Z didn't carry himself like such a blackface wearing buffoon, the article could not have taken shape.

Mushnick wrote of Jay-Z small ownership in the NBA team the Brooklyn Nets, "As long as the Nets are allowing Jay-Z to call their marketing shots — what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new “urban” home — why not have him apply the full Jay-Z treatment? Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N------s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B----hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay-Z hip? Then go all the way!... "

When you have successful black businessmen like Bob Johnson, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, making massive deals worth hundreds of millions of dollars, while carrying themselves with dignity, no one can cast aspersions on their business acumen. However, when you have an ignoramus like Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, in the next corner, acting foolish, stealing from everybody including business partners that did all the work (see lawsuits) and speaking like a tool, criticism is bound to occur.

Many do not respect or view Jay-Z as a businessman (I certainly do not, as I have seen his rampant thievery in action). He's bragged of being a drug dealer, engaged in acts of violence against members of the public (before and after becoming famous), used illegal payola to get his profane music on the radio, then proceeded to rattle off the most foul, demonic, ungodly, sexist, misogynistic poison by a black rapper.

For example, Jay-Z, has released such sick songs as "Lucifer" which is another name for Satan and "Pu*sy" which is another name for, well, you know. He is also a woman beater (but he's going to try that mess with the wrong woman one day and end up in the hospital). Putting such such negative music and images out there and behaving like a cretin is not respectable.

The Judiciary Report does not believe Jay-Z is fit for the 1% ownership he currently holds in the Brooklyn Nets. However, with the way he is arrogantly acting, you'd think he owned 100% of the team.
