Trinity Gay, the beautiful 15-year-old daughter of well liked sprinter, Tyson Gay, was shot and killed in Lexington, Kentucky this past Sunday morning at a local restaurant. The teenager was the victim of an unprovoked act of violence on her part. As she innocently stood outside fast food restaurant the Cook Out at 4:00AM, two cars exchanged gunfire and Trinity was shot in the neck. The bullet likely sliced or severed her carotid artery (arteries) leading to exsanguination (and possible windpipe damage). She was rushed to the University of Kentucky hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Tyson Gay stated of the tragic incident, "She didn't make it. I'm so confused. She was just here last week for fall break. I have no idea what happened." My deepest condolences to Tyson Gay and his family. I'm sorry for your loss brother. It is a terrible tragedy and I am sorry it occurred. It's awful hearing about loss of life, especially when it is a very young person. People need to rally around the Gay family and help them through this difficult time.

The senseless gun violence continues to claim innocent lives in America, necessitating the need for gun control. This beautiful, promising young girl, who was also a sprinter, has lost her life through no fault of her own and for no valid reason. Congress needs to stop cowering to the gun lobbyists and protect the American people from violence.

Nations that instituted gun control saw a massive decline in shooting deaths. It is estimated that 30,000 Americans die each year from gun violence. So many people who should still be here are not because of gun violence. Something needs to be done on a legislative level to fix the problem.

Oct 16, 2016, 1:23 PM - Trinity Gay, a high school sprinter and daughter of Olympian Tyson Gay, has died after shots were fired early Sunday morning at a Lexington, Kentucky restaurant. Two cars were involved in a shootout at the Cook Out restaurant near the University of Kentucky campus. Trinity Gay, 15, who was reportedly not in either car, was hit in the neck and pronounced dead at 4:41 a.m. Sunday. Police are seeking the drivers of the cars based on descriptions.

The internet reacted in shock yesterday when athlete Oscar Pistorius was acquitted of premeditated murder charges in the shooting death of girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. As the verdict was read from the South African court and filtered out around the world, people voiced their opinions on social networking calling it an injustice.

Judge Thokozile Masipa stated prosecutors had not proven their case. She further stated "manslaughter" was a "competent" charge, as he did in fact kill Steenkamp. However, the prosecutors went for the highest charges they could muster, due to Pistorius' history of domestic violence with other women, the gruesome nature of the crime scene and the fact he did not call for help after shooting Steenkamp. 

The case should not be about Pistorius being famous, an Olympian and a Paralympian. At the end of the day, a woman was shot dead under bizarre circumstances. Her family is devastated and demanding justice. Those are the only factors that should be of relevance.

The fan and press favorite attended a press conference and was confounded at the number of political questions he was asked, but declined to answer. Even in his native Jamaica, Bolt stays out of political matters.

Asafa Powell Faces Retroactive Ban In Jamaica Over Tainted Supplements New Trainer Christopher Xuereb Gave Him Without Telling Him The True Contents While Trainer's Girlfriend Tests Positive In Canada As Well

 

Jamaican sprint star, Asafa Powell, tested positive for the innocuous banned substance, Oxilofrint, after taking on new trainer, Christopher Xuereb of Canada and has been given an 18-month retroactive ban by the Jamaican government. This was the first time in Powell’s 13-year career that a test came back positive for a banned substance. Previously, Powell was drug tested 150 times and each test result was clean. It is clear Xuereb is the problem.

 

Since the time of the announcement, regarding Powell’s hotel room and that of fellow sprinter, Sherone Simpson, being raided by police in Italy over the positive test, a number of facts have emerged in the case. For example, Xuereb's girlfriend, sprinter Esther Akinsulie, tested positive for a banned substance and was given a six-month ban in Canada. Xuereb was also a lesser known worker in a lab whose supplements created positive tests for U.S. track stars.

 

The banned substance found in the drug Epiphany that Xuereb gave Powell and teammate Simpson, also did not enhance their performance, as stated by a scientist under oath. It is a substance commonly found in high blood pressure medication.

 

Powell testified he trusted Xuereb, but after the positive drug test found out the supplements he gave him, Epiphany, contained Oxilofrint, while the Epiphany from the drug company’s website did not contain Oxilofrint. Lab tests revealed this fact. Epiphany is advertised online as safe, so any due diligence done regarding research on the drug would turn up nothing illegal, banned or sinister.

 

However, lawyers assert, as subsequent lab tests revealed, the Epiphany tablets Powell and Simpson were given was tampered with by Xuereb. Epiphany is advertised online as safe, so any due diligence regarding the drug would turn up nothing illegal, banned or sinister.

 

 I find it hard to believe that Powell and Simpson, who’ve been clean for well over a decade, would take a banned substance all of a sudden and on the day of the national championships when they knew they would be tested. I was informed by a credible source, “They did not know the extent of what they were taking” due to Xuereb having deceived them regarding the true contents of the supplements lawyers publicly allege the new trainer had tampered with.

 

Why would these athletes wait until so late in their careers to start doping up and on a day they knew they would be drug tested for track trails to qualify for the national team (neither qualified, attesting to the fact Oxilofrint does nothing to aid the performance of sprinters).

 

As the ban is retroactive, this means 31-year-old Powell will only be ineligible for another few months. However, he should work to publicly clarify the misconceptions surrounding the case, where he and Simpson were unfairly sabotaged. Xuereb should be held legally accountable for his harmful actions. Any trainer or medical adviser that provides an athlete with tainted substances should face prosecution under the law.

 

In short, athletes in all sports need to be careful regarding who they trust, the supplements they are given and where they eat. Not everyone is your friend. Some have terrible motives based in bribery, money and malice.

For years Bolt has stated he would love to play football, especially for his favorite team Manchester United (being the Arsenal fan I am, I’m gagging right now LOL).

My dad was one of the youngest players ever to play for the Jamaican national team and it is one of his fondest memories. Two years ago, my dad stated he saw Bolt play football and he scored "a solid goal" but was concerned possible injury would negatively impact his sprinting career. He was also one of the charity organizers of a football game Bolt participated in a year ago. He's seen him play and thinks he has potential. My dad, who also coached football and cricket in Jamaica, is longtime friends with Bolt's coach Glen Mills and expressed his hope to him during a conversation that Bolt would dedicate his time to smashing every sprint record he can, as he is fully capable of doing so. That should come first.

However, this new offer issued by Schäfer this month is for the 2018 World Cup. Bolt has stated he plans to compete in the 2016 Rio Olympic games, after experiencing great gold medal success in Beijing (2008) and London (2012). If training with the Jamaican national squad for the 2018 World Cup comes after and will not interfere with Rio 2016, Bolt should definitely go for it, as it would be a wonderful experience and set a record. The German, who officially signed on as head coach of the Reggae Boyz for the 2018 World Cup campaign, is ready to provide the world's fastest man an opportunity to utilise his much-stated football ambition, only this time in the national team. "In the German newspaper, I read about Usain Bolt saying he wants to play football and he wants to play in Manchester. He's a Jamaican and I want him to be on our team," Schäfer told The Sunday Gleaner, while conducting duties as guest editor for the company's World Cup project, which will be launched on Tuesday.

The sprint icon has openly stated his love for football with English Premier League team Manchester United being his international team of choice. He has even been there for training, having gotten an invitation from legendary coach Sir Alex Ferguson. He has also played a number of charity games locally, displaying good skills and a hard left-footed kick, oftentimes scoring. While in his homeland for Christmas holidays, Schäfer said he received more encouraging news about Bolt's footballing skills, which spiked his interest.

"I heard from Puma, the Puma boss, (Bjorn Gulden, CEO). He said he (Bolt) played many times on the small team and he's not bad. "But we can make him better," Schäfer remarked. "When he has good training with our team here in Jamaica, we can make him a very good player. He's very fast, that's clear, but when he learns with the ball then he'll be one of the best players.

These athletes were repeatedly tested for many years without issue, prior to the aforementioned trainer descending on Jamaica's shores this summer. Why would you go into another person's nation with such ill-will and do such a thing. That's sabotage and worthy of extradition under existing international treaties. Sprint stars Gay, Powell fail drug tests

...Jamaican sprint star Powell, a former 100m world record holder, confirmed that he had tested positive for a banned stimulant at his country's national trials for Moscow. But the 30-year-old strenuously denied any wrong doing. Powell, also 30, took to Twitter to confirm his dope test failure. "I will confirm that a sample I gave at the National Trials in June has returned 'adverse findings'," he said. "The substance oxilofrine was found, which is considered by the authorities to be a banned stimulant.

"I want to be clear that I have never knowingly or wilfully taken any supplements or substances that break any rules. I am not now nor have I ever been a cheat." Powell held the 100m world record between June 2005 and May 2008. He won two bronze medals in the 100 metres at the 2007 and 2009 world championships. He also had one gold in the 4x100 metre relay in 2009.

But he has never managed an individual sprint medal at the Olympics, finishing fifth in the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Olympic 100 metre finals and limping home in eighth place in the final in London last summer. According to media reports, Powell was one of five athletes who failed drug tests at the national trials last month in Kingston. Sherone Simpson, a silver medallist in the women's 100m at the 2008 Olympics, was one of them, according to a report in Britain's Daily Telegraph.

The Jamaica Gleaner newspaper claimed the substance taken may have been contained in a food supplement. "My team and I will try to do everything we can to get this issue dealt with as best as we can," Simpson told the Gleaner. "Thanks to all who have been supporting me, I really appreciate it at this time."

Later Sunday, Powell's agent, Tara Playfair-Scott, revealed on Twitter that a man who allegedly supplied the supplements had been arrested in Italy. "He has been detained by Italian Law Enforcement in conjunction with this matter. The investigations continue," she wrote.

Italy police arrest Asafa's physical trainer over banned substance

2013-07-14 15:45:37 - Police in Italy have reportedly detained a physical trainer that had been living with Asafa Powell, and providing him with supplements, that may have contributed to his positive drug test for Methylsynephrine, The Gleaner understands. The trainer whose name has not been released was detained and evidence removed from his residence. He began working with the MVP camp in May.

Powell has also reportedly handed over supplements he had in his possession that were given to him by the trainer. Some of those same tainted supplements may also have been supplied to Sherone Simpson, sources said.

News broke today that Powell and Simpson, Olympic and World Championship medallists were among five Jamaican athletes who returned adverse analytical findings during the recent National Championships held at the National Stadium from June 20-23. Two other senior athletes and a junior athlete also returned positive tests in their ‘A’ samples.

The Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCo) confirmed that it had received the reports of the findings, but was unable say much more on the matter, according to JADCo Chairman, Dr Herb Elliott. "The process of results management has commenced in accordance with JADCo anti-doping rules."

Powell subsequently released a statement in which he declared his innocence. "I want to be clear in saying to my family, friends, and most of all my fans worldwide that I have never knowingly or willfully taken any supplements or substances that break any rules. I am not now — nor have I ever been — a cheat," he said.

"My team has launched an internal investigation and we are cooperating with the relevant agencies and law enforcement authorities to discover how the substance got in my system. I assure you that we will find out how this substance passed our rigorous internal checks and balances and design systems to make sure it never happens again," Powell said.

Simpson, who Gleaner sources say may have also been an unwitting victim of the suspect taken into custody, also declared her innocence. "I would not intentionally take an illegal substance of any form into my system. I want to sincerely say to my family (especially my parents, grandparents and siblings), Paul Doyle (agent), MVP track club, fellow athletes, former sponsors and the rest of Jamaica, that l am deeply sorry for any hurt or embarrassment this positive test may have caused, she said.

Asafa shut it down immediately, hilariously stating no, because by the time towering Bolt gets into the bobsled, no one else could fit in it (LOL). I can totally see Blake as "Sanka" from the original film. Yohan has that "long hair don’t care" thing going on like the movie character. I would pay to see that movie. Her family, who have a right to be upset about this claim, slammed the story. The model's father, Barry Steenkamp stated, "The post mortem would have revealed if Reeva was pregnant and it did not reveal anything like this. Maybe it comes from the other side, to garner and build up some sort of support for Oscar."

The athlete has stated in court that the shooting was an accident, as he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder, but based on their statements, her parents are not convinced.

Barry Steenkamp stated, "If it didn't happen the way he says it did he must suffer and he will suffer. It does not matter how much money he has and how good his legal team is, he will have to live with his conscience. But if he speaks the truth, I can perhaps some day forgive him."

Prosecutors In The Oscar Pistorius Murder Trial Label The Star A Liar Over The Death Of His Girlfriend While His Defense Team Refutes Steroids Claim

Olympic and Paralympic sprinter and murder suspect, Oscar Pistorius, has withdrawn from all competition in the upcoming racing season, despite the fact he is seeking bail in his criminal trial, regarding the shooting death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp. There may also be another reason. Police acknowledged the fact steroids were found in Pistorius' Pretoria, South Africa home, which is the crime scene.

Some will also interpret his announced withdrawal from all competition in the upcoming racing season, to the aforementioned steroids found in his property. However, Pistorius' legal defense team has refuted the police claim regarding the alleged steroids in his home, stating what was found by officers is a testosterone enzyme product that is classified as a herbal remedy. Pistorius' lawyers state the substance is legal. Medical tests are expected in this regard.

Prosecutors have laid out a very serious case against the gold medalist and are adamant it was not an accident. They spoke in no uncertain terms about their strong suspicion Pistorius’ actions constitute "premeditated murder." They are of the belief, Pistorius is lying about mistaking Steenkamp for a burglar.

Evidence presented indicates Steenkamp was in her night clothes and an overnight bag was present in the property. Initially, it was reported Steenkamp surprised Pistorius and he opened fire. Now Pistorius’ defense team is stating the two were asleep in bed, he woke up and went onto the balcony at 3:00 without his prosthetic legs. Steenkamp went to the bathroom and Pistorius heard the noise, believing it was a burglar. They are stating Pistorius did not realize Steenkamp had gotten out of bed and went into the bathroom, as they allege it was dark due to the lights being off.

Prosecutors do not believe Pistorius' account of events, stating neighbors heard arguing and shortly after a woman's screams. Another key claim is a neighbor stating the lights were on in Pistorius' property, including the balcony in question. The neighbor stated he was on his own balcony and saw the lights on at Pistorius' place.

Prosecutors believe Pistorius attacked Steenkamp in the bedroom after the two had an argument (allegedly over his suspicion of her cheating on him) and she fled into the bathroom, locking herself in the toilet. Pistorius then opened fire, shooting her three times through the locked door, as bullet wounds were found in Steenkamp's head, arm and hip. The state alleges Steenkamp locked the door for a reason, as she was in fear of her life, due to Pistorius' attack.

Some in the press alleged Pistorius called a friend rather than an ambulance, implying he wasted crucial time when emergency medical services could have been summoned, potentially saving Steenkamp's life. However, it is estimated he called emergency services 20 minutes after the shooting.

Many news sources have cited police leaks in the case, which authorities have denied. Thus far, neither prosecutors or the police have publicly confirmed claims in the mainstream press of Steenkamp's skull being crushed with a cricket bat. It was stated today that other than the gunshot wounds found in Steenkamp's body, there was no other injury to her body.

This case marks a tragic turn of events regarding two promising lives - both Steenkamp and Pistorius - who had so much going for them. It is truly sad, as their lives have been destroyed. There is much to be learned from this case. Those who are truly paying attention will grasp those lessons and not walk down the same path.

Famous sprinter and double amputee, Oscar Pistorius, made another appearance in court today, charged with the death of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp. prosecutors painted a grim picture of how they believe Steenkamp died, during a fight with Pistorius.

The description of the killing reveal prosecutor's theories that Steenkamp and Pistorius had an argument, which resulted in the athlete shooting her to death. 700 miles away from the courthouse, Steenkamp was laid to rest in a funeral attended by her family and friends.

After being remanded into custody, in Pretoria, South Africa, on "premeditated charges" in the murder of his girlfriend, model, Reeva Steenkamp, sprinter Oscar Pistorius is facing a significant legal battle for his freedom. It has been stated, Pistorius' prosethtic legs will be confiscated in jail, as they can be classified as a weapons.

With the loss of his girlfriend, name, career, sponsorship deals and freedom, Pistorius should be placed on suicide watch whilst in jail or if bail is granted in the case. The circumstances in his life dictate it. His emotional, tearful breakdown in court is also a sign of someone on the brink.

Endorsements have been a financial lifeline to many celebrities, providing a source of income their chosen profession may not be able to match. People need to be careful of what they write on social networks and what they say in interviews, as it can destroy financial opportunities and cause regret later on.   

Representatives of many products and services read social networking sites and interviews when determining the celebrities they will choose to represent their brands. If they find questionable content, hundreds of thousands of dollars, even millions will be lost. It is imperative to conduct one’s self as a role model at all times, as not only is it the right thing to do, it will make a difference to one’s financial future. 

Singers often do not make a significant amount of money from record sales. Albums can go gold (500,000 units sold) or platinum (1,000,000 units sold) and after standard deductions (recoupment) a singer will receive a check for $50,000 to $100,000. The real money is in touring and endorsements. 

Athletes often face a similar dilemma, which is made worse when their income is derived from sporting events requiring extensive participation and individual performance to make money. It is not that one is being materialistic, but athletes need revenue sources to feed their families. 

Good endorsements have provided well for many. However, as some have morality clauses, not only does one have to conduct one’s self in a manner befitting a role model, one must adhere to those standards after signing the endorsements.

Therefore, cutting loose online and in public, engaging in wild sexual or anti-social behavior can prove financially costly. Fame is often fleeting. One has to maximize all one’s opportunities while they are present, as you never know what could happen tomorrow. 

In the future, when you can’t pay your rent or mortgage, you will look back and lament the opportunities you had to financially make the most of your career, due to the rebellious whims of youth that caused endorsers and sponsors to pass you over. 

I do not write this to hurt or upset anyone, but as a reminder to some to be smart about fame. It will either build you up or destroy you (drugs, alcoholism, sex addiction via various people and overspending that leads to financial ruin). 

Some of you also need to stop listening to some of your bad advice giving friends and those you date, encouraging you to do things that are simply questionable, dangerous, risky or goes against your nature. You may think that person understands you from agreeing with everything you say, but that’s just someone blowing smoke up your butt in trying to control and own you and your possessions. 

You may not have been popular your whole life, but becoming famous doesn’t mean you should test it to its limits. That’s never a good idea. You also shouldn’t have to buy the affection of those who claim they care about you. If someone truly cares about you, they’d tell you the truth whether you like it or not. 

People encouraging you to sleep with everything in sight, get drunk and or high on drugs, are not looking out for your best interests. It’s a fact of life, you do certain things, especially to excess and it will burn you. 

My family’s been in the entertainment industry for decades and seen many come and go. My dad has interviewed and is friends with hundreds of celebrities from the time they began their careers to its inevitable conclusion. 

As time goes by, people don’t reminisce about their many sexual conquests, drug or alcohol binges. They talk about the good times they had with their families, the love of their life and their kids. They reminisce about their moments of glory on the world’s stage in their chosen profession. 

Keep that in perspective when you think about or are encouraged to wild out, as some toss caution aside and end up in deadly accidents, shoot outs, brutal fights, overdosing or contracting serious, life changing STDs that no one wants. The ironic thing about it is at the end of the day, many celebrities that choose the promiscuous path don’t even remember the names of their conquests. 

Over the summer, my dad was speaking to me about a certain celebrity he has met and also was also an organizer of a charity event said celebrity was apart of. My dad is hoping for the best for said celebrity, stating the person has natural talent. However, my dad said to me, as gifted as the star is “he needs guidance.” It was the second time my dad had said that about said star and it turned out to be true, as the celebrity later made a risky choice that nearly cost him his life and alarmed everyone in his circle. 

Fame doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Through fame you can give back to others, help the less fortunate, live your dreams, secure your financial future and support your family. Make the best of your opportunities while you can. Don’t find out the hard way that I’m telling you the truth.

Gold Medalist Jonnie Peacock Turned Down TV Offers To Concentrate On Sports

Britain's golden boy, Jonnie Peacock, 19, sensationally won a gold medal at the London 2012 Paralympics in the 100m sprint final. Since that time, in addition to making appearances on well know British talk shows, he has been inundated with offers to do television, programs such as "I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here." 

Peacock has turned down the offer to concentrate on sprinting. He stated this week, "First and foremost I’m an athlete and that’s my main focus." However, as he looks good and speaks well, he could be a sports pundit in his spare time and still remain in his realm of athletics.

Usain Bolt And His Coach Glen Mills Honored By The IAAF

Christmas has come early for Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt and his coach Glen Mills, as the IAAF honored both men, among others, in a ceremony which took place in Barcelona, Spain. The two men expressed their gratitude at being recipients of the prestigious international awards.

Mills, coach to track stars Bolt, Yohan Blake and Warren Weir, deservingly won a lifetime achievement award for his many years of hard work, service and dedication in the field. Bolt won male Athlete of the Year for the fourth time running, pardon the pun. Congrats to them and all the other winners.

Congrats to coach Glen Mills, a long time friend of my dad's, on receiving a Doctorate of Laws from the University of the West Indies, for his outstanding contributions to Jamaica. He truly deserves it. Mills is considered the top coach in track and field and is enjoying unprecedented success.
