Music Producer Dr. Luke Denies Claim Sony Set To Drop Him Over Kesha Rape Allegations

Music Producer, Dr. Luke, 42, was hit with allegations of drugging and raping his recording artist, Kesha. Dr. Luke signed Kesha to his Kemosabe Records imprint, distributed by Sony Music. The producer claimed Kesha, 28, was like a little sister to him. However, a year ago Kesha went public with claims Dr. Luke drugged and raped her. He has denied the allegations.

Kesha sued to be released from her contract with Kemosabe Records and its parent company, Sony, but a judge refused her request, over claims Dr. Luke invested $60,000,000 in her career. Dr. Luke is a liar. He did not invest $60,000,000 in Kesha's career. Not even at the height of Michael Jackson's fame in the 1980s did his former label, which is now Sony Music, invest such a figure in his career. That is considered a staggering amount to invest in an artist. It is pure garbage.

A video tape deposition was released from a previous, unrelated lawsuit, revealing Kesha denying under oath that Dr. Luke raped her. However, Kesha states she and her family were threatened by Dr. Luke if she did not retract the rape and drugging claims, via denying it during the deposition.

The public has been slamming Dr. Luke on social networking, referring to him as a rapist, while demanding "Free Kesha." Yesterday, articles were published by various websites stating Sony Music is about to drop Dr. Luke. However, he denies the claims, "This is not true. Luke has an excellent relationship with Sony. His representatives are in regular contact with executives at the highest levels at Sony and this has never come up."

Sony Music will reportedly dump mega-producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald due to the public-relations nightmare that’s resulted from pop-star Kesha’s sexual-abuse allegations against him and the tense court battles to get her out of a contract with him. “The fact that this hasn’t already been taken care of is confusing, especially for people in the building,” one insider told The Wrap on Wednesday. 

Because Gottwald has never been charged in court, his exit from Sony would have to be mutual and likely negotiated. (Gottwald has always denied the accusations, which included allegations of rape.)

A New York judge ruled last month that Kesha cannot exit from her contract with Gottwald, after hearing testimony that the producer invested $60 million in her career and allowed her to make music without his involvement. In a separate statement, Gottwald's lawyer denied the report: "This is not true. Luke has an excellent relationship with Sony."...

Sony Music singer, Kesha, real name, Kesha Sebert, burst into tears in Manhattan Supreme Court today as judge, Shirley Kornreich, refused to let her out of her music recording contract, after she alleged her producer, Dr. Luke, real name, Luke Gottwald, raped her at age 18.  

I disagree with the judge's decision in part. The reason the judge did not want to invalidate Kesha's contract is it would set a precedent that would allow thousands of other entertainers and sports stars to invalidate their recording contracts. This would lead to any artist citing the case and breaking their contract, after labels have invested millions in their careers.

However, the judge could have placed an injunction and restraining order against Gottwald, barring him from directly contacting her. It should be noted, it is being stated that Sony Music offered to allow Kesha to work with another producer, but she is worried the company would not promote her music if she did so. Kesha should have taken that offer, as that was the only way to professionally cut ties with Dr. Luke.

Many women hate reporting rape to authorities, but it is necessary for a number of reasons. We see that in this case. The judge has very little to work with, legally known as "insufficient evidence." Kesha should have went to the police after the alleged rape. A rape kit could have provided evidence and would have been a very useful tool in court today.

The judge would not have invalidated her recording contract, because in the eyes of the court Sony Music is not the offender. However, it would have labeled Dr. Luke an offending party, if the rape kit supported her claims, which would have meant a restraining order and injunction could have been issued against him personally. He would have also face criminal charges in a separate legal action filed by prosecutors in criminal court.

The music industry is very strange. Women have been raped by connected, wealthy men and in some cases women (there are cases of famous lesbians/bisexuals in the music industry raping other women). Some have been drugged. Others have been threatened with the destruction of their careers and income if they did not have sex with the offender (which is rape as well). Some have been threatened stating harm would be done to their families if they did not sexually submit (which is also rape).

"Illuminati" pop singer Kesha filed an ugly lawsuit against her corrupt producer, Dr. Luke, alleging he drugged, raped and abused her. The lawsuit was filed on Kesha's behalf by famed attorney, Mark Geragos. The lawsuit alleges Dr. Luke, real name, Lukasz Gottwalk, abused Kesha so badly she "nearly lost her life." Some women have been abused in the industry.

Kesha accused Dr. Luke of giving her date rape drugs, as well as alcohol and other narcotics to sexually assault her. Kesha complained of waking up the next day naked in his bed and feeling sore. She also contends he constantly insulted her appearance, verbally abusing and bullying her regarding it. The question is why didn't she go to the police regarding the rape allegations. I'm not saying he is innocent, as Dr. Luke is strange, but why file a civil suit first, rather than go to authorities alleging a serious sexual crime has transpired.

Luke has countersued contending Kesha's lawsuit is a stunt to get out of her production contract with him. He alleges defamation and breach of contract and is demanding damages in court. Dr. Luke's lawyer stated, "As set forth in the complaint that we have filed on behalf of Dr. Luke, Kesha and her mother are engaged in a campaign of publishing outrageous and untrue statements about Dr. Luke to third parties, including scurrilous and false statements of purported physical and mental abuse of Kesha..."

Singer Toni Braxton, who stars in the new reality show "Braxton Family Values" insists she is more popular in Europe. However, that's something all artists say when their singing careers hit the skids.

Ironically, Braxton sings better than the Britneys, Rihannas and Keshas of today, but is lacking the chart success she enjoyed in the 1990s at Laface Records. It's a testament to how poor and low brow the music industry has become.

Braxton stated this week that she does one off dates in Europe and they support her family well. The singer has two children and is in the middle of a divorce. Here's hoping she and her husband get back together.
