Top Rank boxing promoter, Bob Arum, revealed during an interview with BoxingScene.com that boxer Adrien Broner turned down the opportunity to fight boxing legend Manny Pacquiao. Broner wanted more money than Arum was offering. Arum stated Broner "priced himself out of the fight" and "I was dealing with Al Haymon on making that fight. Al tried but Broner was asking for crazy money that nobody can afford, so he is out and Manny is looking for another opponent.

Since Mayweather has retired and Pacquiao retired and un-retired (LOL) Manny is the biggest draw in boxing. Other champions such as Tyson Fury (heavyweight), Deontay Wilder (heavyweight) and Canelo Alvarez (middleweight) are pulling in strong viewing numbers and millions of dollars per fight. 

The problem is Broner wants to be the new Floyd Mayweather, but he has not fought long enough to bring in that type of money from boxing ticket sales and pay-per-view. You have to get in where you fit in. Once you reach that level, then you can demand the huge sums your pay-per-view numbers warrant (oops, I said warrant and Adrien is in jail - I'm just playing Adrien, don't get mad).

Boxing promoter, Bob Arum, has revealed, superstar Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquiao, is going to retire next year to pursue a full time career in politics. Arum stated Pacquiao is retiring from boxing and will launch a campaign bid at becoming the President of the Philippines. Manny serves as a congressman in the Philippine Congress. He also came from poverty and became a multi-millionaire athlete, who has helped his people via charity works.

The Judiciary Report wishes Pacquiao all the success in the world in his new venture. It would be great if an intelligent boxer such as Pacquiao, who has helped so many poor people, became President of the Philippines. Manny, as the phrase goes, knock'em out (not literally - you can't punch up people in politics, though I know some politicians would love to knock out their rivals during debates LOL).

Manny has been involved in politics for years in the Philippines -- and has been elected to Congress twice before. Pacquiao will turn 37 in December. His career record stands at 57-6-2, with 38 victories coming by way of knockout. Bob Arum, the promoter of boxer, Manny Pacquiao, under the Top Rank company, has sued, Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions. Haymon is a promoter and manager for the world's highest paid boxer, Floyd Mayweather, among other top pugilists. Haymon used to be a top music promoter in the entertainment industry, responsible for many lucrative R&B and rap concerts in the 1980s and 1990s.

Arum is accusing Haymon of engaging in a boxing monopoly, anti-trust violations and sabotaging other promoters and boxers, as well as issuing payola type bribes in the sport. Recently, Haymon launched the Premier Boxing Champions series on the NBC network in America, allowing the public watch boxing matches for free, features stars such as Adrien Broner and Shawn Porter. However, another top boxing promotions company, Golden Boy, also sued Hayon alleging the very same thing - he is running a monopoly and violating U.S. anti-trust laws.

In all honesty, I have been enjoying the Premier Boxing Champions show on NBC. It is interesting and entertaining. However, if Top Rank and Golden Boy lay out sufficient evidence of a monopoly and anti-trust violations, with the matter properly proven and it reaches the SEC and FTC, Haymon could face charges and a whopping fine from the government. At the end of the day, we all want a clean fight inside and outside the ring.

July 1, 2015 - Embattled Premier Boxing Champions promoter Al Haymon is readying for another legal battle, as Top Rank Promotions filed a lawsuit against him Wednesday. Attorneys at Kramer, Levin, Naftalis and Frankel representing Haymon released a statement regarding the Top Rank lawsuit, (via Wil Esco at BadLeftHook.com).

The lawsuit filed today (Wednesday) by Bob Arum and Top Rank is entirely without merit and is a cynical attempt by boxing's old guard to use the courts to undermine the accessibility, credibility and exposure of boxing that the sport so desperately needs. "The Premier Boxing Champions series makes boxing free again, by bringing championship boxing to free TV, with a fighter-first promise and a commitment to the fans to restore boxing to the luster of its heyday. The continued success of this effort will far outlast this baseless lawsuit.

Haymon has become arguably the most prominent promoter and manager in boxing in recent years, but Bob Arum and Top Rank Promotions are looking to put a stop to that. According to Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times, Top Rank is suing Haymon for more than $100 million in damages due to the notion that he is attempting to create a boxing monopoly by taking on multiple roles...

The lawsuit also claims Haymon is intentionally losing money for now in order to gain the upper hand over other promotions. In order to stifle legitimate promoters from competing against PBC, Haymon has obtained exclusivity commitments from broadcasters. Between these predatory 'payola' payments and the expenses of promoting each televised match, Haymon and Waddell & Reed are operating at a significant short-term loss in the millions of dollars. This 'loss leader' strategy ... has allowed Haymon to gain unfair advantage in the promoter market to the severe detriment of legitimate competitors like Top Rank...

Such accusations are nothing new for Haymon, who was sued by Golden Boy Promotions for $300 million in May due to alleged violations of antitrust laws, according to ESPN.com's Dan Rafael. Haymon was also accused by California Boxing Commission Commissioner John Frierson of sabotaging other promoters by reserving both the Forum and the Staples Center in Los Angeles in an effort to prevent competition from holding events, per Ivan G. Khan, the former champ, should be Mayweather's first choice for the fight. Khan has been training in anticipation of the bout, even in spite of the fact Mayweather taunted him in an interview that no contract has been signed between them, contrary to what he alleges Khan stated to the press (Floyd Mayweather Slams Manny Pacquiao And Clowns Amir Khan Stating He's Lying About Boxing Contract To Fight Him). 

Maidana recently beat one of Mayweather's Money Team members, Adrien Broner. However, it was not without controversy, as his corner (Alex Ariza) was seen discreetly slipping Maidana a pill during the fight. The website TMZ stated the incident is being investigated by the Texas Boxing Commission. Until that incident is sorted, Khan should definitely be the first choice.

Manny Pacquiao Wants Out Of His Boxing Contract With Promoter Bob Arum Which Would Pave The Way For Fight Against Floyd Mayweather

Franklin Gacal, the lawyer of well-liked Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao has revealed the star is seeking a release from his existing contract with Top Rank Boxing promoter Bob Arum. As stated on the site previously, welterweight champ, Floyd Mayweather, stated he will not fight Pacquiao as long as he is represented by Arum. Pacquiao's contract with Arum runs out December 2014. 

Much of Pacquiao's tax troubles that Mayweather keeps bragging about, are being blamed on adviser, Michael Koncz, who has hidden the beloved fighter's contracts (with Top Rank Boxing). Pacquiao's lawyer stated, "Well, it appears there is really a problem. The IRS is claiming there is a tax deficiency. If there were some mistakes, it was Mike's fault. Why did it happen? They were supposed to have hired accountants. At the end of the year, after the filing of the tax returns, all problems should have been solved. If the US still has claims, there should be problems with recording and everything. So this is the point man's fault and that is Mike." 

Mike (Michael Koncz) suffered a stroke and is paralyzed on the right side of his body. It is not known whether his mental faculties are intact enough to make a clear representation of exactly what he did with Pacquiao's business and contracts. Pacquiao's lawyers need to continue talks with the IRS showing good faith, in attempt to work through the tax issue. If they sense a genuine desire to rectify the deficiencies, they will work with you and a payment plan can be established.

If boxer Floyd Mayweather does not fight Manny Pacquiao his legacy will be incomplete with folks continuing to state he is scared of him. 

 

It appears Pacquiao trusted the wrong people, which has happened to others. For example, gifted musician, Billy Joel, who is one of the most talented singer/songwriters ever, made a fortune from his talent, but someone close to him stole and squandered $20,000,000 of his earnings. In the entertainment and sports world, the general rule must always be, trust no one and verify all items presented to you. While there are decent, honest people in both industries, there are opportunists and thieves as well, who are always looking for someone to rob and exploit. Protect yourself and your financial future. 

In closing, Money May is still trash talking stating, "Pacquiao had his opportunity. He had his chance. When he had his opportunity and he had his chance, I guess he was tooting his own horn and he felt like he was on the same level as me. It's obvious he wouldn't have asked for 50/50. So now, two losses later and he's got a problem...when I offered you $40 million, you turned it down...Pacquiao got IRS problems. Pacquiao got pay-per-view number problems. Pacquiao's boss name is Rob Arum. Pacquiao owes $68 million in taxes..."

Who knows what Mayweather's true feelings are regarding wanting Arum out of the picture. However, it is Mayweather's right to decline to fight anyone in Arum's stable. Just like it is Pacquiao's right to seek a new promoter when his contract with Top Rank Boxing expires at the end of the year. That's sports. 

Both Pacquiao and Mayweather have to do what's best for them. It's not a matter of being cold, calculating or callous. They both need to seek the best compensation package in any deal they pursue, as they have families to support and need to plan for their financial futures. It's unfair to work so hard and not be able to enjoy the fruits of one's labor. Once again, protect yourselves and be smart with your money (or someone else will).

Responsible for reviewing all of Pacquiao's contracts, both in and out of the ring, Gacal has long-been considered one of the closest confidants of the fighting congressman from Sarangani, who named him his Chief of Staff after his election. To the surprise of many, Gacal revealed that he has never seen Pacquiao's current contract with Top Rank thanks to adviser Michael Koncz, who apparently kept it hidden from him...

Gacal also suggested that Koncz may not have Pacquiao's best interest at heart and is more concerned about maintaining good relations with Arum. "Mike looks up to Bob Arum when Pacquiao is done with boxing. When Pacquiao is done, who is he? So he has to maintain his good relations with Bob Arum," Gacal continued in an interview with Edwin Espejo of Rappler.com. He went on to explain why Pacquiao has kept Koncz around for so long. Argentinean boxer, Marcos Maidana, is also in the running, after beating Mayweather's protégé Adrien "Brush My Hair" Broner.

All three men are eager to fight Mayweather, who is boastfully using it as leverage over them. However, none of the three are desperate. Pacquiao revealed he can roll with the punches, pardon the pun and is willing to fight anyone. Amir Kkan has slapped back at Mayweather stating if he wants to fight someone he (Khan) has already beaten, he is free to do so. Maidana, who has not been contacted by Mayweather, who stated he wants to get in the ring with him, has expressed interest in taking the champ up on his offer, but flat out stated he and his team will not be "begging" Mayweather for a fight.

Khan stated "I've signed my part of the contract, they've not signed theirs" regarding his portion of the legal agreement to fight Mayweather. However, in response to his statement, Mayweather has stated Khan is "lying" or did not sign with Mayweather Promotions.

Mayweather needs to keep his trash talking lighthearted, as people are taking offense at some items he's stated that are being branded demeaning insults against fellow boxers. When Ali used to trash talk people, it came across as funny and facetious, such as stating, "If you even dream about beating me you better wake up and apologize" (LOL).

Side Bar: Speaking of image, there are items online regarding Mayweather burning hundred dollar bills in the club. There are also videos featuring his protégé Adrien Broner defecating in a restaurant bathroom, wiping his butt with money and then flushing it down the toilet. In other videos Broner flushes $20 bills straight down the toilet.

They need guidance and some honesty in their lives from those around them. It would have been better had they given the money to charity. Additionally, don't play with the currency. Don't attract that kind of attention to yourselves. Wiping your butt with money can result in the government getting on your behind, pardon the pun. Some in government will brand it disrespect and find indirect ways of addressing the illegal, currency destroying behavior.

December 28, 2013 - Manny Pacquiao’s close adviser Michael Koncz met with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum this past week to discuss the two names – Tim Bradley and Ruslan Provodnikov – that Arum has for Pacquiao’s next bout April 12th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Pacquiao is still very much interested in fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. That’s his first choice of who he’d like to fight, but unfortunately Mayweather’s not on Arum’s list of opponents for him to fight. It’s going to be one of Arum’s Top Rank fighters that Pacquiao faces next.

Earlier today Pacquiao was asked if he’d like to fight Mayweather, and he said “Anytime. We’re just waiting.” What Pacquiao means by that is unclear. Is he waiting for Mayweather to agree to fight him while he’s still being promoted by Arum, or does Pacquiao mean that he’s waiting for his contract with Top Rank to expire in 2014 so that he can sign with another promoter in order to fight Mayweather without the Top Rank – Golden Boy Promotions cold war stopping it? Mayweather made it perfectly clear in a recent interview that he will never fight Pacquiao as long as he’s promoted by Bob Arum. Floyd Mayweather has been toying with boxing fans, regarding the prospect of fighting Manny Pacquiao. It would undoubtedly be the most exciting fight in boxing history (thus far). First, Mayweather said he would fight Pacquiao, then he wouldn't, then he would, now he's changing his mind again. In a new interview with the website Fight Hype, Money May had this to say:

"BT: Speaking of Maidana, I know you haven't made a decision yet on your opponent, but based on his performance against Adrien, is Maidana now eligible to win the Mayweather Sweepstakes?

FM: Absolutely! Yes, Maidana's name is now in the lottery jackpot box. We all know the Pacquiao fight, at this particular time, will never happen, and the reason why the fight won't happen is because I will never do business with Bob Arum again in life, and Pacquiao is Bob Arum's fighter. Bob Arum gives Pacquiao a date, whereas Floyd Mayweather gives Floyd Mayweather his own date. I will be fighting again in May and I will be fighting again in September. I'm gonna give you two reasons the Pacquiao fight is not going to happen. Like I said before, I will never do business with Bob Arum in life, but I don't wish him nothing bad. And I want to see Manny Pacquiao's real pay-per-view numbers. Get his pay-per-view numbers from his last fight and compare them to my pay-per-view numbers with Canelo

In the past, of course you're going to hear hearsay. "Well, Floyd had a problem with this; he had a problem with the I.R.S." No one has ever put a padlock on my house. On the flip side, former heavyweight boxing champ, Mike Tyson, is praising Paquiao's skill in the ring. In a candid interview last month, Tyson stated, "You don't know boxing if you think Floyd Mayweather Jr. is better than Manny Pacquiao." Oh snap! Mike just called you chicken Mayweather (ok, no he didn't, I'm using reverse psychology on you to try to get you to fight Pacquiao). Seriously, if Mayweather doesn't fight Pacquiao it will always be said he ran from the challenge, fearing his first loss. It will be a shadow over his legacy.
