Oprah Winfrey's OWN Network Loses $330,000,000 Indicating Something Is Amiss

Owning a television network has become a vanity project for many in the entertainment industry, where one hears that someone else seeks to launch one, then the rest all copy with no real sense of what it takes to have a hit channel, containing great programming people want to see. It's not that simple.


So is the case with Oprah Winfrey, who has gone from 12,000,000 viewers on prime time, to 308,000 tuning in to see her on her channel the OWN network. It has devastated Winfrey and financial partner the Discovery network, who has dumped $600,000,000 into OWN only to see it fail.
