The FBI Messed Up The Hal Turner Trial

A mistrial has been declared in the Hal Turner death threat case, where the White Supremacist blogger, called for the death of three Chicago judges, then told the world the FBI paid him to do it.

It is apparent, the FBI's credibility is in a terrible state, regarding public perception of the agency, for a hate speech blogger they arrested, who called for the death of the first black President of the United States and sitting judges, to walk free. A retrial is set for March 1, 2010.

The FBI ought to think about what that outcome really means, as they clearly have an image problem. As the FBI's oversight, Congress should take note of it as well.

NY judge declares mistrial in NJ blogger trial

Monday, December 7, 2009; 2:32 PM - NEW YORK -- A judge declared a mistrial Monday in the case against a New Jersey blogger accused of making death threats against three federal judges in Chicago because they wrote a ruling supporting gun control.

The mistrial came after the jury sent two notes - one during its first day of deliberation on Friday and another on Monday - saying it was hopelessly deadlocked over charges Hal Turner threatened to kill or assault a federal judge. A retrial was scheduled for March 1 in Brooklyn, where the case was moved based on a change-of-venue request...
