Number One Spot Too Far For Mariah Carey

Glitter (2001)

"Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" (2009)

Hits Daily Double has announced, the band Paramore, extended their lead for the number one spot on the Billboard charts next week, besting Mariah Carey "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" by 30,000 copies.

Carey's latest flop is reminiscent of the career tanking bomb that was "Glitter" spawning the song "Never Too Far"

Currently, Paramore, who has done work for the "Twilight" movie soundtrack, is projected to sell 190,000 copies for the week. Carey is projected to sell 160,000. Her last CD "E=MC2" sold more than double that amount during its first week of release.

The new numbers are reminiscent of the flop that was her 2001 "Glitter" album, which sold 110,000 copies in the first week of release and sent her to the psych ward after a suicide attempt.

Contrary to what some might think, her falling sales, has nothing to do with her turning 40 soon. People aren’t supporting Carey for other reasons.

The lackluster, unoriginal "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" has bred imperfect sales, making it one of her worst selling albums to date.

Looks like Mariah is joining Madonna on the musical scrap heap, as the latter is on track to sell between 60-67,000 copies this week.

Mariah Carey's Album Caving

"Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" Bombing

Mariah Carey drunk as a skunk over flatlined career

Mariah Carey's latest effort, the album entitled "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" is not selling well. First the Eminem fiasco, the Foreigner fail and now this.

"Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" is currently positioned to place at #2 on the Billboard Charts next week, with sales of 160,000 to 170,000 copies, her lowest in nearly a decade.

When one factors in the usually inevitable, second week percentage drop in sales, "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" is firmly on track to be turkey. Thanksgiving has come early. The exposure she gained from the Oprah Winfrey Show was for naught.

In other news, Carey was pictured staggering out of a restaurant drunk, due to the bad news. Back to the "Glitter" days, then.

Considering her past history in trying to take her life, someone should put her on suicide watch...again. Really, to take one's music career seriously enough, to the point of suicide attempts, is crazy.

Pop thief Madonna also bombed very badly with the release of her spectacularly stinky Greatest Hits album, which is on track to sell a paltry 67,000 copies. Never mind the Eagles sold 28,000,000 of their Greatest Hits CD.

Madonna is over. She hasn't had a hit album in America in over a decade. Hence, her trying to pimp out her preteen daughter in a sexually charged video, to no avail, as she is the spitting image of her and the world is tired of all things Madonna.

Barbara Streisand isn't faring too badly with her latest effort that received virtually no real promotion. It is on track to sell 160,000 copies.

Whitney Houston

However, it looks like this round of the battle of the Sopranos goes to Whitney Houston. Though her sales were not spectacular, Houston sold 300,000 copies during the first week of release, with a 70% decline in the second week.

Disclaimer: the term soprano is loosely applied to Madonna as she cannot sing for anything.

Fueled by Ramen Punk-Rockers Hold the Edge Over Diva in One-Day Returns

September 30, 2009 - Brand New Eyes, the third studio album from the band, fronted by lead vocalist Hayley Williams, takes an early lead in the race with a one-day sales total that projects to 180-190k for the week.

That gives them the edge over Island/IDJ diva Mariah Carey’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, which is now on target for 160-170k. With a question as to how front-loaded those sales for Paramore are, Carey could close the edge if she has a brisk weekend.

Those two are among the five top debuts next week, all registering in six-figures, including Columbia legend Barbra Streisand’s Love is the Answer (150-160k), Hollywood rockers Breaking Benjamin (140-150k) and Virgin/EMI’s retooled grunge gods Alice in Chains (130-140k).

Columbia Nashville country darling Miranda Lambert’s Revolution heads the other newcomers, with a total approaching 65-75k.

WB Material Gal Madonna’s Celebration greatest hits album is in the 60-70k range, as is Interscope goth-punks AFI’s Crash Love...

Oprah Winfrey Interviews Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon and Oprah Winfrey (Bauer Griffin)

Oprah Winfrey has been interviewing every pop personality in a bid for stronger ratings, due to her decline in viewership. Next, Oprah Winfrey will interview Oprah Winfrey.

Mariah Carey performing in Las Vegas to a small audience, due to poor ticket sales

I caught a clip of Oprah Winfrey interviewing Mariah Carey and it was much less interesting than the Whitney Houston piece last week. Carey gave her usual, run of the mill, juvenile interview.

Girl to Mariah: No, girl, no, that outfit is all wrong!

Her performance was not much better. Carey whispered and cracked her way through the Foreigner classic “I Wanna Know What Love Is.” It was an appalling choice, ill-suited to her struggling voice. Words were missing unintentionally, as her voice gave out.

Mariah Carey Massacred Foreigner Song

"I Wanna Know What Love Is" Destroyed

Mariah Carey

Crazy, psych ward graduate, Mariah Carey, did an awful remake of the 1984 gospel-styled, Foreigner classic "I Wanna Know What Love Is." Carey deliberately leaked the remake to the internet yesterday and it is awful. I knew she would destroy and ruin the song.

Mick Jones, the British lead singer of Foreigner, who coincidentally wrote the tune, did it a million times better. When one writes such an instant classic, it is best to deny remake requests. Right now, I'm trying to forget Carey's awful rendition, lest it ruin my memory of the song.

Carey's deteriorating voice is on dull display, showcasing the fall from the heights of pop stardom, it once occupied. Carey's voice, much like at Michael Jackson's memorial last month, is audibly cracking, whimpering and wobbling.

She had to apologize to audiences the next day, blaming her terrible performance on being emotional over Jackson's death. What's she going to blame it on this time - the death of the Foreigner classic she killed. She is to this song what Dr. Conrad Murray is to Michael Jackson - musical Propofol.

The 1998 remake of "I Wanna Know What Love Is" by Carey's then Sony labelmate, Tina Arena, is better than this version, though still not as good as the original.

If one is going to do a remake, one should ensure it is as good as or better than the original. Turning in sub-par remakes only angers audiences. If you are not going to bring something new to the table, other than your over-inflated ego, don't bother showing up.

How is it Sony's Whitney Houston smoked enough drugs to clear poppy fields in the Middle East, yet still sounds better than Carey, even with weak songs and few of which are unoriginal and devalued (i.e. Houston's new song "Salute").

What happened to Carey's voice. Something went haywire with it in the mid 90's and it never came back. It appears to be a natural occurrence, but one that transpired decades earlier than normal for a singer, if at all.

Mariah Carey Gets Desperate

Mariah Carey

Mariah “Karaoke” Carey, reeling from the failure of her current Eminem diss single “Obsessed” which was the lead off to her forthcoming album due in September, is going to enrage classic rock fans everywhere, by remaking the 1980’s Foreigner tune “I Wanna Know What Love Is.” I was listening to that song just the other day.

That tune is a classic, but watch Carey butcher and ruin it, with her now decimated, irritating voice, much like she did in the terrible remake of the Phil Collins mega-hit “Against All Odds.”

It’s a sad day when a man with less octaves than you allegedly have, sings his song a million times better than you.

It will serve as further proof Carey is not creative and relies on taking other people’s music or making sub par remakes of songs that were already huge hits, in bids at stopping her career from dying.

Side Bar: the tracks “Angels Cry” and “It’s A Wrap” are not Carey’s, though they’ve illegally ended up on her forthcoming CD. God doesn’t like ugly, Mariah and will not bless you for it.

Mariah Carey's Career Tanking Again

Mariah Carey bets on nostalgia, covering Foreigner

August 18, 2009 | 12:40 pm - Perhaps realizing that the focus should be less on Mariah Carey's feud with Eminem and a bit more on the pop diva, more hints were dropped today about the singer's upcoming "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel." The ad-supported album, which was originally set for Aug. 25, is now due to be released Sept. 29.

The second single from Carey's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" will apparently be a cover of Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is" (perhaps tackling "Don't Stop Believing" would have been a too-obvious choice of pandering).

The news was first reported by Roger Friedman, and his article has since been posted on Carey's official website.

This isn't the first time Carey has covered an '80s ballad -- see her take on "I Still Believe" above. The latter gave Carey yet another top 10 hit, a status that has thus far eluded her "Obsessed."...

Mariah Carey's Career Tanking Again Pt 2

Mariah Carey

After the dismal showing of her lead off single, the Eminem mocking track "Obsessed" Mariah Carey has returned to the recording studio, with her tail between her legs. Carey was clearly knocked for six, after suffering a musical thrashing from her one time lover, Detroit rapper, Eminem.

She has pushed back her album's release date, which is a tell-tale sign of trouble. Labels usually push up album release dates when the lead single does well.

Eminem

When the single is tanking, they push it back, delaying the inevitable defeat on the charts, by trying to rework the project and add new material.

Side Bar: I'm still wondering why crazy Mariah thought she could handle an musical onslaught by a viper-tongued rapper.

Mariah Carey returns to studio, delays album again

Thu Aug 13, 2009 5:11pm EDT - NEW YORK (Billboard) - Originally scheduled for an August 25th release date and then September 15th, Mariah Carey's upcoming 12th studio album, has been delayed yet again.

"Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" will now arrive two weeks later on September 29th. A source at her Def Jam label said the singer needs to return to the studio to record additional songs.

Carey has also pulled out of a string of appearances surrounding the album's release, including "VH1 Storytellers," the "Today" Show concert series, the MTV Video Music Awards and her Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony.

The album's first single, "Obsessed," reached No. 11 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart...

Eminem and Mariah Carey feud for real says 50 cent

...Now it is being claimed that the whole feud between Carey and Eminem is a contrived set-up to promote their new albums but associates of Eminem deny this to be the case.

'Eminem doesn't mess with fans like that. This is real as can be, he has a statement to make and he is going to make it in ways some might not like' rapper and associate of Eminem, 50 Cent was reported as saying.

Why Is Mariah Carey Canceling Events?

Originally posted Saturday August 15, 2009 11:55 AM EDT - Reports that Mariah Carey has rescheduled several upcoming appearances has left many fans wondering if something might be wrong with the singer.

Carey, 40, had been tentatively set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Aug. 25, perform on Today Aug. 28, and also tape an episode of VH1's Storytellers.

But the singer's publicist Cindi Berger tells PEOPLE there is no reason for concern: "These dates have been postponed and not cancelled," she said Friday.

A source says the singer is completing her new album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, the release of which has been pushed to Sept. 29...
