Recently, Kabbalah actress Gwyneth Paltrow was named People magazine’s most beautiful person of the year and people vociferously criticized the decision. Makes sense, as the week before, she was voted the Most Hated Person In America, beating out Chris Brown and Justin Bieber in the poll. Others attractive stars like Bar Rafaeli, Kate Upton, Halle Berry and Jennifer Lawrence have had a bigger year, yet they were overlooked.

Recently, Kabbalah rapper Jay-Z, was named one of the most influential business people in America, which made many laugh and criticize the decision online. Jay-Z has a string of failed businesses. He also has a number of lawsuits for copyright infringement, financial fraud, unpaid wages and debt. The evidence speaks for itself - a good business person he is not.

Yet, here we have it, Paltrow and Jay-Z, due to who they know in the industry and being apart of a Hollywood cult, were given titles and accolades the public believe are unwarranted, undeserved and unearned. Once again, it’s who you know, not what you know.
