Obama And Congress Get Nowhere On Fiscal Cliff Issue

Barack Obama

Earlier in the week, reports indicated "fiscal cliff" talks between President Obama, his Democrats and the Republican party had resumed and was making progress. However, things went off track again, much to the frustration of the watching public.

The government has not made significant strides in resolving the issue, as neither side refuses to budge unless they get what they want, which means moving in circles. Neither side is willing to bend on issues they rank the most pressing, leaving them at a stalemate that is not good for the economy. It has impacted the stock market and consumer confidence in a negative manner.
