Dominique Strauss-Kahn
Former IMF chief, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who was arrested on rape charges last week, is now free on bail. However, he is on house arrest and has been fitted with a tracking device that is an ankle cuff, as apart of the terms of his release.
Strauss-Kahn, a resident of Paris, France and Washington, DC, is spending his time on house arrest at the luxury apartment building located at 71 Broadway in New York City. He is also paying for armed security at a cost of $200,000 per month, to satisfy the terms of his bail.
As the pictures in this article illustrate, Mr. Strauss-Kahn will be quite comfortable in his luxurious surroundings, but who could enjoy it with the weight of a possible prison sentence of significant time, hanging over one’s head. Still, it's better than Rikers.
Some residents are not happy about Strauss-Kahn living in the building, due to the presence of the press and the fact it has reportedly become a tourist attraction. Building managers are trying to reassure residents, but the reality of life at the building has changed, due to the unwelcome attention.
