Bush Tax Cuts Not Renewed

Barack Obama

The tax cuts for the rich, implemented by former U.S. President, George W. Bush, have not been renewed. The measure has failed in the Senate. President Obama’s Debt Commission suggestions also failed to pass as well.

With unemployment nearly at 10% it is time the government got its act together. It is long overdue. They are wasting precious time. Taxes need to be increased on the nation’s richest citizens. They can afford it and it will not change their lifestyles.

Budget cuts need to be implemented targeting useless, widespread illegal spying, by the FBI, CIA, and NSA, costing the nation billions that could be used to create sensible jobs. It is not stimulating the economy, as most of it is going to equipment costs at companies that are already rich and not really hiring.

Wasteful and non-priority programs the government is funding, need to be cut as well. Until the nation gets out of the hole, certain programs need to go on hiatus. Many of Obama’s green programs are very expensive and not cost effective. Ending the wars in the Middle East would save billions as well. The government is living on borrowed money and it is a recipe for disaster.
