Brooke Shields stars in this real life story, as a woman being stalked. "I Can Make You Love Me" is the disturbing tale of Laura Black, a woman that worked at a computer company, who was relentlessly stalked by a vicious man, a technician named Farley. He is fired for his misconduct and becomes vengeful.

In conduct common to some law enforcement entities that do not take stalking seriously, when it is a terrible crime, this story had a tragic ending.

Black's delusional stalker, went on to open fire at her workplace, killing several and severely wounding her and others. He was arrested and imprisoned after he took the place hostage.

This movie illustrates how mentally deranged stalkers are, as they believe things that simply aren't true.

As the movie title implies, her mentally ill stalker believed he could make her love him, which is untrue. It also reminds me of the Bonnie Raitt song "I Can't Make You Love Me."

Stalkers share many things in common. They are out of touch with reality. See signals from the victims they stalk that simply are not there.

When a victim tells them no, they believe the person is saying yes. They wrongfully believe they share some bond with the victim that in reality does not exist, though they believe it is there.

They refuse to accept their victim does not want anything to do with them. They believe their victim will come around one day, when they never will, as no one likes being stalked and will see it as a sign they are to avoid the person who is mentally ill.

Stalking has various stages.

It starts with improperly investigating a person, delving into their lives in a nosy manner.

Following the victim around.

Sending the victim unsolicited items.

Calling the victim without permission.

Breaking into the victims home and or vehicle.

Reading the victim's mail and email.

Illegally wiretapping and or electronically bugging the victim.

In the case of a woman stalking another woman, the stalker will begin to dress, speak and act like the victim, engaging in very disturbing, mindless, mentally ill mimicking. In the case of a man stalking a woman, he will steal items of her clothes and or other personal items. In the case of a woman stalking a man, she will steal items of his clothes and wear it.

Hacking the victim's computer and email.

Contacting the victim's family and friends.

Assaulting the victim.

Killing the victim.
