Honey Boo Boo's Gay HIV Positive Uncle Speaks About His Boyfriend That Knowingly Infected Him

Lee Thompson

Lee Thompson, the uncle of reality star, Honey Boo Boo, spoke yesterday about testing positive for HIV. The openly gay reality star, contracted the virus from his boyfriend, who has been sentenced to 5-years in jail for concealing his HIV positive status.

Thompson stated during a interview with a gay magazine in Atlanta, "I was adamant about getting my HIV status checked on a regular basis. On March 16, 2012, I tested negative. Then, in May of 2012 my test results came back positive. I knew it had been my boyfriend who infected me. I later learned he had been HIV-positive and was not taking medication and had not bothered to tell me about it. I was advised that I should press charges and, hesitantly, I did. It was the right thing to do."

As stated yesterday, HIV and AIDS rates among gays of all ages, teens and up, are soaring, creating a serious epidemic all over the world. Sexual promiscuity plays a large part in said statistics. There is no such thing as "free love."

Sadly, many people trust others and do not realize at the time they are doing so with their health. Many HIV and AIDS victims are bitter, feeling like they did not deserve what happened to them and are living under a death sentence. However, compassion for one's fellow human beings must never fail. Think about the impact of your conduct on others.
