Maria Santos Gorrostieta
Beautiful and brave Mexican, Maria Santos Gorrostieta, 36, was
brutally killed by the drug cartels in her native country. Previously, the
cartels killed her husband, José Sánchez Chávez, 50, making two violent murder
attempts on the young, courageous mother of three, a former mayor of Tiquicheo,
Mexico, who had assumed office at age 32.

The drive by shootings by heavily armed men resulted in grievous
bodily injury, but Gorrostieta recovered. The former attacks revealed chilling
wounds, with photos of her injuries released to the public. However, sadly the
most recent attack claimed her life, as she was found dead with extensive head
injuries, stab wounds and burn marks, indicating she had been tortured before
being bludgeoned to death. Her second husband, Nereo Delgado Patinoran, is
missing and feared dead.

serious and the Judiciary Report salutes their efforts. When you think about the
number of people who have died due to overdose, it is a battle worth fighting to
save lives.
