Barack Obama
The Democrats are usually the U.S. political party most sympathetic in pushing for an avenue for illegal immigrants to become lawful residents and then citizens of the United States of America. However, under the Obama Administration, that is not the case. President Obama has deported a record 400,000 people in one year (never mind his aunt and uncle have been receiving a free pass to stay in America, though they are illegal immigrants).
Former Presidents Bill Clinton (Democrat) and Ronald Reagan (Republican) held amnesties, allowing illegal immigrants in America a path to U.S. citizenship. This was the humane thing to do, rather than resorting to deportation. President Obama is currently courting the Hispanic vote in America (50,000,000 people) and that of others who are Caribbean-American, which accounts for millions more votes (Jamaicans, Haitians, Bahamians, Trinidadians and others from the region).
Setting this precedent of deporting 400,000 people in 2011 (and the year is not even over) most of them Hispanics, will not help Obama with the vote in 2012. Legal immigrants usually dislike it when illegal immigrants are deported for seeking a better life.
Many illegal immigrants are also vital to the farming, construction, food and hospitality industries in America, representing billions of dollars to said sectors of business. Therefore, what the Obama Administration has done via these deportations is also financially unsound.
