Florida judge John Murphy repeatedly punched prosecuting attorney Andrew Weinstock for verbally challenging the jurist on his client's rights. Judge Murphy wanted Weinstock's client to waive his right to a speedy trial. When Weinstock and his client declined to do so, the judge became indignant. Judge Murphy stated, "You know, if I had a rock I would throw it at you right now. Stop pissing me off. Just sit down." The judicial cannons forbid judges from engaging in abusive and or rude, discourteous speech and with good reason. It reflects very poorly on the entire legal system. It is ill-mannered, offensive and brutish. Justice does not go hand-in-hand with that sort of behavior.
Judge Murphy inappropriately told Weinstock they could take the matter outside via a fist fight, "If you want to fight, let's go out back and I'll just beat your a**." Weinstock said okay and left the room. The judge followed him and proceeded to beat up the lawyer. Judge Murphy grabbed Weinstock by the collar and began repeatedly punching him. The judge was heard yelling during the fight, "You want to f*** with me?" This was highly inappropriate and worthy of criminal prosecution.
Judge Murphy needs to be removed from the bench. Weinstock also should not have accepted the judge's abusive, illegal challenge. As an officer of the court, Weinstock should have walked away and reported the judge's behavior to the Florida Bar. However, truth be told, the Florida Bar is corrupt. I've seen them waive through all sorts of corruption committed by lawyers in different cases (which is included in my forthcoming film "Justice And Truth"). The Florida Bar needs a congressionally ordered raid to remind them of the meaning of life and justice. Something tells me they're going to have the government on their doorstep in the future.
