Obama Slammed By Las Vegas Mayor

"You're Not Welcome Here"

Again: President Obama Knocks Trips to Las Vegas

U.S. President Barack Obama made comments about the West Coast city in America named Las Vegas that were perceived as disparaging by its mayor, Oscar Goodman. As such he has commanded "Obama is not welcome" in his city anymore.

Obama has been discouraging Americans from taking trips to Vegas, famous for its gambling and nightlife, proclaiming the country is in financial straits and people need to save. The Mayor views this as killing tourism to his city and is not amused.

Las Vegas mayor to President Obama: 'He's not welcome in my city'

Story Published: Feb 3, 2010 at 1:14 PM EST - LAS VEGAS (NBC NEWS) - "When times are tough, you tighten your belts. You don't go buying a boat when you're trying to pay your mortgage. You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save on college. You prioritize, you make tough choices."

Those words, used by President Obama in a speech earlier this week have the mayor of Las Vegas fuming...again. Mayor Oscar Goodman says he's worried the statement will damage Las Vegas' already suffering economy.

"This president is a real slow learner," Goodman said after the speech. "He has a real psychological hang-up about the entertainment capital of the world and an apology won't be acceptable this time."

Shortly after the mayor's remarks, Obama sent a letter to U.S. Senator Harry Reid of Nevada in which he states, "I wasn't saying anything negative about Las Vegas." The president goes on to praise Las Vegas as a great place to have fun...

"I want the president to straighten this out. Otherwise, he's not welcome in my city," he said...

Has The U.S. Economy Really Improved

U.S. President Barack Obama

Has the U.S. economy really improved. Banks and other U.S. businesses are still closing in record numbers, Americans still can't find work and today it was announced, due to a revision, the economy has lost 825,000 more jobs.

The current government plans are not working. The government needs to change course, before it's too late and the damage becomes a way of life, stuck in a cycle you can't get out of.

Unemployment rises in most metro areas

Feb 2, 2:40 PM (ET) - WASHINGTON (AP) - Unemployment rose in most cities and counties in December, signaling that companies remain reluctant to hire even as the economy recovers.

The unemployment rate rose in 306 of 372 metro areas, the Labor Department said Tuesday. The rate fell in 41 and was unchanged in 25. That's worse than November, when the rate fell in 170 areas, rose in only 154 and was unchanged in 48.

The metro employment numbers aren't seasonally adjusted and can be volatile. Many of the increases were due to seasonal factors...

The Obama Spell Is Broken

Unlike this president, John Kennedy was an ironist who never fell for his own mystique.

The curtain has come down on what can best be described as a brief un-American moment in our history. That moment began in the fall of 2008, with the great financial panic, and gave rise to the Barack Obama phenomenon.

The nation's faith in institutions and time-honored ways had cracked. In a little-known senator from Illinois millions of Americans came to see a savior who would deliver the nation out of its troubles. Gone was the empiricism in political life that had marked the American temper in politics. A charismatic leader had risen in a manner akin to the way politics plays out in distressed and Third World societies.

Professor Fouad Ajami's opinion piece garnered over 400 comments. He visits the News Hub to discuss his views and offer rebuttals to criticism.

There is nothing surprising about where Mr. Obama finds himself today. He had been made by charisma, and political magic, and has been felled by it. If his rise had been spectacular, so, too, has been his fall.

Iran Launches Worrying Satellites

The West is concerned about Iran's latest venture - launching satellites into orbit. Space exploration is fine for any nation that wishes it, but with the Iranian government's track record, of stating it shall annihilate America and Israel, among others, some are concerned, as the satellites can be used to deliver deadly nuclear weapons from space.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated their space program is peaceful, but people do not trust him, due to proclamations he has made in the past regarding obliterating the West.

Government calls Iran rocket launch "provocative act"

Wed Feb 3, 2010 1:40pm EST - WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Iran's launch of a rocket capable of carrying a satellite was a "provocative act," a White House spokesman said on Wednesday...

"A launch like that is obviously a provocative act," Burton told reporters. "But the president believes that it is not too late for Iran to do the right thing -- come to the table with the international community and live up to its international obligations."

U.S. Hearings Regarding "Imminent" Al Qaeda Attacks

"Video: Upcoming Terror Attack Expected"

The U.S. Congress held a hearing on possible "imminent" attacks from the terrorist group Al Qaeda within the next 6 months, deeming it a strong likelihood.

FBI Director Robert S. Mueller

Side Bar: And people say David Beckham has a squeaky voice. Did you hear FBI Director Robert S. Mueller's voice in that clip (grin). Even Feinstein's voice was lower and she is a woman with normal pitch. Mueller makes The Nanny's adenoids sound throaty and low pitch.

FBI Claims Terrorist Intelligence Methods Are Working

Obama's Attorney General Eric Holder

The Obama Administration and its FBI and DOJ have come under fire again, from other American federal agencies and Congressional Republicans, for their handling of foreign terrorist suspect, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

Many still contend the FBI were not the best choice to interrogate him, he should not have been read Miranda Rights as he is an "enemy combatant" and should be sent to the U.S. prison, Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.

The most qualified team should have interrogated him and according to expertise and government rank, it is not the FBI. However, the FBI claims they gained useful intel from Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab.

I find it hard to believe a radicalized young man that went as far as he did is just spilling his guts, especially when he knows he is not likely to see freedom again. I don't believe the account being given in the press. Several pieces of this story are missing.

The Judiciary Report is of the belief, it is okay to try and convict terrorists on U.S. soil, provided it is done in a remote region of the country, away from civilians. However, the more qualified interrogators should get the ball rolling first.

As for reading Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab his Miranda rights, that is dependent on the type of trial he is to face. If the government is going to try him under the U.S. criminal system that civilian lawbreakers face, then it is a matter of law. If he is tried on U.S. soil under the military system for criminals, that's another story.

Side Bar: Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's dad must be so disappointed, as he's had a distinguished career and paid good money to send his son to prestigious schools in Nigeria and London, only for him to take this devastating route. It's another reason people should avoid becoming radicalized terrorists - the hurt and disappointment it causes one's family.

Holder: I made decision to charge terror suspect

Wednesday, February 3, 2010; 3:52 PM

WASHINGTON -- Attorney General Eric Holder said Wednesday he made the decision to charge the Christmas Day terror suspect in civilian court rather than the military system, with no objection from all the other relevant departments of the government.

In a letter to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, the attorney general wrote that the FBI told its partners in the intelligence community on Christmas Day and again the next day that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab would be charged criminally.

Holder's letter was the latest volley in a vigorous counterattack by the Obama administration to Republican charges that the arrest and FBI interrogation of the Detroit suspect was a mistake that cost a chance to learn key information.

The letter followed less than 24 hours after senior administration officials disclosed that the suspect had resumed talking to U.S. interrogators last week after breaking off his discussions the day of his arrest...

FBI Director Robert Mueller testified Tuesday that FBI agents questioned Abdulmutallab until he entered surgery, and that the suspect was not advised of his Miranda right to remain silent until after he emerged from surgery. A federal law enforcement official, requesting anonymity to discuss an ongoing case, said the suspect made clear upon emerging from surgery he was going to stop talking and then was given his Miranda warning.

"Neither advising Abdulmutallab of his Miranda rights nor granting him access to counsel prevents us from obtaining intelligence from him," wrote Holder "On the contrary, history shows that the federal justice system is an extremely effective tool for gathering intelligence."...

Toyota Should Have Heeded The Warnings

Toyota Prius

10-months ago on April 27. 2009, in the article, Prius Problems, the Judiciary Report wrote about a piece in the Miami New Times, regarding Toyota Prius vehicles accelerating without prompting and accompanying problems with its brakes and floor mats. It was leading up to a disaster. However, due to the fact Toyota had what they deemed a small number of complaints, drivers were labeled at fault, not the motor cars.

Fast forward 10-months. The new Toyota line with the same braking system is unveiled and massive trouble erupts. Over the past week, the national news has been dominated by reports of a Toyota recall, due to faulty brakes and floor mats. 2.6 vehicles have been recalled.

A family died in California, when the accelerator on their Toyota Lexus sped the vehicle up to dangerous speeds and refused to stop. The dad's last words to 911 were, "We’re in a Lexus. . . and we’re going north on 125 and our accelerator is stuck. . . we’re in trouble. . . there’s no brakes. . . we’re approaching the intersection. . . hold on. . . hold on and pray. . . pray.”

Today, a famous Toyota Prius owner, Steve Wozniak, who is co-founder of Apple Inc, stated his vehicle sped up as well and refused to stop, forcing him to pump the brakes.

Toyota recall: last words from a family killed as Lexus crashed

February 3, 2010 - The final moments of a family killed in a car crash apparently caused by a faulty accelerator on a Toyota vehicle have been made public as lawyers challenge the company’s safety record.

Four members of the same family died in a hired Lexus that allegedly accelerated out of control. Mark Saylor, 45, an off-duty California highway patrolman, died last August along with his wife Cleofe, 45, and daughter, Mahala, 13, and Mrs Saylor’s brother Chris Lastrella.

In a 911 emergency call made from the car just before the crash, Mr Lastrella is heard saying: “We’re in a Lexus. . . and we’re going north on 125 and our accelerator is stuck. . . we’re in trouble. . . there’s no brakes. . . we’re approaching the intersection. . . hold on. . . hold on and pray. . . pray.” ...

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak says his Toyota Prius accelerates on its own

February 3, 2010 - Apple Inc. co-founder Steve "Woz" Wozniak has seen his share of software glitches in the gadgets he has created and in those he collects.

But Wozniak said he was surprised several months ago when his 2010 Toyota Prius started accelerating on its own -- to as much as 97 mph -- when he used cruise control to increase the vehicle's speed. He said he had to tap the brakes to stop the car from accelerating...

John Edwards

Senator and former presidential candidate, John Edwards, is being accused of beating up his wife, Elizabeth, who has cancer, when she pressured him on whether he was having an extramarital affair, which later proved to be true. The National Enquirer states they have the police report to prove Edwards punched his wife in the stomach.

Man Coming Out Of Coma Responds To Mind Reading Technology

fMRI

In a follow up to the article "The FBI Continues To Break The Law" it was announced one day later, the same Mind Reading Technology (FMRI - functional magnetic resonance imaging) the Judiciary Report wrote of in the aforementioned entry, has been used in a proper manner, to communicate with a man coming out of a coma who is unable to speak. As discussed yesterday, Mind Reading Technology is appropriate in "a lab or hospital setting."

Vegetative patient "talks" using brain waves

Wed Feb 3, 2010 5:35pm EST - LONDON (Reuters) - A man in a deeply unconscious state for five years has been able to communicate with doctors using just his thoughts in a study scientists say is a "game changer" for care of vegetative state patients.

British and Belgian researchers used a brain scanner called functional magnetic resonance imaging to show the man, who suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in a road accident in 2003, was able to think "yes" or "no" answers to questions by wilfully changing his brain activity.

Experts say the result means all patients in coma-like states should be reassessed and it may change the way they are cared for in future.

After detecting signs of awareness, the doctors scanned the man's brain while he was asked to say "yes" or "no" to questions such as "is your father's name Thomas?." The results showed that by changing his brain activity, the man communicated his answer.

"We were astonished when we saw the results of the patient's scan and that he was able to correctly answer the questions that were asked by simply changing his thoughts," said Adrian Owen, co-author of the study from the Medical Research Council.

"Not only did these scans tell us that the patient was not in a vegetative state but, more importantly, for the first time in five years it provided the patient with a way of communicating his thoughts to the outside world."

The man, now 29 years old, was one of 23 patients diagnosed as being in a vegetative state who were scanned using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI)...

Woman Glues Man's Penis To His Stomach

Therese Ziemann

A cheating husband in the American state of Wisconsin, was set up and punished by his wife and three women he had affairs with, for not telling any of them about his unfaithful conduct.

(Left to right) Wendy Sewell, Tracy Hood-Davis and Michelle Belliveau

They ganged up on him and glued his penis to his stomach. Hahaha! I mean, that was wrong, very wrong! Seriously, violence is not necessary (even if it was funny). The women were arrested and sentenced to one year of probation. I have a question. Exactly how did he unglue himself. Really, scientifically speaking...(still laughing).

Four women who took revenge on cheating lover using a tube of glue walk free from court

Last updated at 2:54 PM on 03rd February 2010 - A mother tied up her cheating lover and glued his genitals to his stomach, a court heard.

Therese Ziemann then summoned two of Donessa Davis's other lovers and his wife, Tracy Hood-Davis, by text message before verbally abusing him.

The 48-year-old claimed she and the three other women only wanted to confront the lothario about his cheating ways. Her decision to grab the bottle of nail glue from her makeup bag was 'a stupid spur-of-the-minute decision,' she said...

Ziemann, Michelle Belliveau, 43, Wendy Sewell, 44 and 31-year-old Hood-Davis were all sentenced yesterday to one year probation plus community service for their roles in the revenge plot.

She told police she slapped the man in the face, cut off his underwear and used the glue to attach his penis to his stomach...

Consumer Alert: Miamians Need To Stock Up On Hair Gel Before It's All Gone

"Jersey Shore" cast

Miamians better stock up on hair gel, because according to TMZ, the city is in the running as the locale for the second season of the reality show "Jersey Shore" and as some of you know the cast wears enough hair gel to shutdown any national hair show.

I like hair gel just as much as the next person. You wash your hair, too busy to do much with it, you comb some gel in it and call it a day. Ok, maybe I've said too much, but enough about me. This is about "Jersey Shore" and gel addiction. I don't watch the show, as I only saw a clip of it, but someone needs to stage a gel intervention.

Other examples of hair gel abuse:

"Didn't I warn white people not to use the word "Negro." It's like black people joking about white people loving NASCAR - you just don't do it (kidding)."

Today, there was a report in the news regarding a man that shot his parrot for making too much noise during a NASCAR race he was watching on the TV. Apparently, that parrot didn't read this Column.
