EFF Sues U.S. Gov Over Social Network Spying

The EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) has slapped the U.S. government with a Freedom of Information lawsuit, regarding the FBI, DOJ, Secret Service and CIA, among others, spying on citizens via social networking websites.

I think it is acceptable for government agencies to hunt for criminals by searching social networking sites, even subpoenaing the records associated with their accounts, when demonstrable crimes have occurred.

However, if the government transgresses privacy boundaries, against innocent people in doing so, by all means, it should be brought to light and investigated.

Just because one is on a social networking site, does not mean law abiding citizens are not entitled to some measure of privacy, regarding private offline messages and IMs, sent through sites such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and the like.

The problem that has repeatedly occurred with the FBI, for example, is the agency using lawful investigative tools, to not only spy on criminals, but innocent, influential people as well, with the latter being thoroughly illegal. Kudos to the EFF for demanding an accounting of the government's deeds in this regard.

2009-12-03 - The Electronic Frontier Foundation and Berkeley's Samuelson Clinic have sued the Department of Justice and five other government organizations for cloaking their policies for using Facebook, Twitter and other social networks to investigate citizens in criminal and other matters. The groups want to know exactly how and what kinds of info feds are accessing from users' social networking profiles. The suit also comes as Congress is considering legislation that may increase protections for consumers who use social networking sites.

Bill Joel's Daughter In Hospital After Suicide Attempt

Based on published reports, Alexa Joel, daughter of Sony Music artist, Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley, is in St. Vincent's hospital in New York, after overdosing on sleeping pills. Someone called 911 and she was rushed to the hospital, after reporting she was unable to breathe.

Ironically and sadly, the struggling singer, followed in her dad's footsteps, as he too battled depression years ago and unadvisedly drank furniture polish, in trying to take his life.

It is good that neither succeeded in these suicide attempts, as they both have much to live for. May Jesus be with Alexa as she recovers from this ordeal.

Wrestler Umaga, real name Edward Fatu, died yesterday of a heart attack at the young age of 36. So many wrestlers have died in the last year of suicide, heart or respiratory related ailments.

It's clear the steroids are wreaking havoc, as they not only cause organ trouble, they also create depression, which can chemically induce suicidal thoughts. Suicide is not the way. That's nothing to play with and something athletes can privately seek medical help in overcoming.

Wrestlers physically taxing lifestyle is proving too much for some of them and they need to take a step back and realize their lives are too valuable to be destroyed. Fame is not what it is cracked up to be, especially in Hollywood. The WWE needs to do more for these wrestlers as the death count is terrible.

The New York Post ripped the FBI to shreds, for their national security failings, in a scathing editorial published today. The Post cited the current state of disarray the FBI exists under and how it has proven lethal to the American people.

The Judiciary Report has stated repeatedly the FBI needs to be closed with Congress starting a new agency. The New York Post delivered their opinion as well, stating the FBI should not be in charge of terrorism matters, citing numerous incidents of preventable failures that left innocent people dead. The Post wants a new anti-terrorism agency as well, replacing the FBI.

With FBI HQ, it's about pride and ego. They'd rather innocent people die in terrorist and criminal acts than admit they are in over their heads.

These terrorists are driven, maddened and bloodthirsty. The FBI in its current state is no match for that extremism, as they have shown, via numerous failures that cost civilians their lives. Google and Yahoo have been served search warrants by the FBI in the Erin Andrews case, regarding the unsuspecting ESPN sportscaster that was criminally and surreptitiously filmed in a state of undress with it uploaded to the internet, by a stalker that trailed her to two hotels, while she covered national sporting events.

The FBI seeks all emails and activity regarding two Google and Yahoo accounts, they believed were used by indicted suspect, Michael Barrett, in facilitating these crimes.

Barrett faces 5-years in prison for these criminal offenses that have damaged Andrews and an anonymous woman in the case, while disturbing and appalling the nation and the world, regarding privacy issues. Several hidden camera cases have hit the news this year and they are all perverse. It is terrible to think a human being would do something so sick, nasty, cruel and vile to another, as it denotes severe mental illness and depravity.

Search warrants served in ESPN reporter video case

LOS ANGELES — FBI agents want Yahoo Inc. to turn over a video of a second naked woman they suspect was taken by an Illinois man already accused of secretly recording a nude ESPN reporter twice last year, authorities said Thursday.

Search warrants were served Wednesday at the Northern California offices of tech giants Yahoo and Google Inc. seeking additional information about Michael Barrett, who has been charged with one count of interstate stalking in connection with the release of naked videos of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews.

In an affidavit, FBI agents said they were looking for a 42-second video entitled "Hot Blonde Out of Shower," which was posted in June to Flickr.com by a user named "Breastboy." Flickr is owned by Yahoo.

Additional information pertaining to Andrews was sought from Google. Both companies have 10 days to turn over records...

"Michael Jackson Is Worth More Dead"

A few months ago, it was publicly said, the late pop singer, Michael Jackson, is worth more dead and to Sony this is proving quite true. The documentary film of his last concert rehearsals, titled "This Is It" has reportedly grossed $250 million dollars worldwide, with an additional 7 million CDs sold of his past work and millions more dollars generated in memorabilia and merchandising sales.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I'm quite logical and rational. However, when one looks at the circumstances surrounding Michael Jackson's death, one can't help but think something terrible and questionable transpired.

With Hollywood's history of destroying black people with too many copyrights and influence (see Sam Cooke and Michael Jackson), one can't discount that something very disgraceful transpired. Then, one looks at Jackson's archenemies at Sony, some of whom have mafia ties and much to gain from his death and you realize the terrible situation he found himself in.

Something very bad happened to this man and it is the government's duty to properly investigate it and bring justice. The world is not amused. I didn't agree with everything Michael did in life, but a human life is gone and certain industry entities have gotten filthy rich as a result. Someone needs to impartially look into that, as it is not sending a good message.

Members of the Miami quartet, Pretty Ricky, have denounced their brother, Pleasure P, A/K/A Marcus Cooper, as a pedophile that molested a 4-year-old boy and as such, was kicked out of the group and charged in criminal court.

The record remained sealed, until someone on Twitter released documents, purportedly apart of the case, without redacting them. The child's name should have been redacted for privacy reasons. The Twitter account has since been suspended, but the details and screenshots are available on other websites.

Pleasure P denied the allegations in a statement, but when your own brothers are saying you are guilty of child molestation, that is a massive dent in your credibility. I'm not convinced he did not do this. If he did do this, he needs counseling and help, as such crimes are a danger to children everywhere.

The head of their label, Blue Star, a subsidiary of Warner Bros, has agreed to do an interview in coming days, stating he will discuss the case on the Word On The Streets website.

“Unfortunately due to Pleasure P’s lawyer filing an injunction against us from speaking, we are not at liberty to speak about the case.” How ever we will let it be known that we did kick him out of the group, he did not leave on is own free will. We did a deal with Atlantic via Craig Calman that we would let him out of the group if they bought out his contract with us and Blue Star which is the official label of Pretty Ricki. We are not at liberty to discuss why we kicked him out of the group.

Since I have to cover Chris Brown for the site, I watched his appearance on the TV show 20/20, regarding the domestic violence dispute between he and singer Rihanna.

Brown's interview was a lot better than Rihanna's in terms of humility. He also outed her as a liar. Previously, a very arrogant Rihanna told 20/20's Diane Sawyer, she hadn't heard the song Brown wrote to her as an apology.

House chairman wants to subpoena Salahis, but not Desiree Rogers

The Salahis and Rogers all declined to attend the committee's hearing Thursday about what the dinner revealed about White House security.

Thompson said the committee would begin the procedure to issue a subpoena to the Salahis. The FBI And Human Rights

Under the direction of the U.S. Congress, the FBI recently opened a human rights division. The Judiciary Report is skeptical of this endeavor, as the FBI routinely violates the Constitution, U.S. Code and international legal charters at the public’s expense.

It’s one thing spying on criminals to make a case. However, the FBI also breaks laws and rules to spy on innocent people, they deem valuable sources of information. They simply slap it under the umbrella of national security and lie to themselves that their unconstitutional conduct is okay, when it is not.

Human rights are basic fundamentals we all deserve and not principles to be violated at the hands of a nosy FBI Director, illegally obtaining information in a manner that flies in the face of the Constitution.

When the FBI makes decisions that illustrate they do not value the privacy and well being of select, connected law abiding members of the public, such as journalists and political scientists, in order to snoop for political and social gain, they’ve crossed the line.

Rachel Uchitel, the woman that initially denied having an affair with married golfer, Tiger Woods, was scheduled to hold a press conference today, to state she lied about not having an adulterous relationship with him, but cancelled the public briefing at the last minute. No reason has been given for the cancellation. It's just as well.

Obama Party Crashers Accused Of Charity Fraud

Tareq and Michaele Salahi, the couple that crashed President Barack Obama's first state dinner, by showing up uninvited and breaching security to the point they were able to touch and be photographed with the President, are in the middle of another controversy today.

It appears their annual "Land Rover America's Polo Cup" charity benefit boasts sponsors, who did not support the event. When press inquires began this week, many corporate giants listed on the Salahi's "Land Rover America's Polo Cup" website, claimed no knowledge of the event.

The couple has also faced 16 lawsuits in civil court, as a result of business dealings gone wrong, such as the "Land Rover America's Polo Cup" placing them in the Defendants' column of the complaints.

Side Bar: when I was a teenager I used to watch the show "The Young And The Restless." Doesn't Michaele Salahi look like Cricket (Lauralee Bell). She also reminds me of Marla Maples.

Tareq and Michaele Salahi's signature social event, the annual Land Rover America's Polo Cup, bills itself as the "world's most prestigious and largest . . . charity polo event," benefiting the Salahi-run charity Journey for the Cure. Its next U.S. gala is scheduled for June on the Mall.

The two-day event is to center on a polo match between the United States, for which Tareq Salahi is the captain, and India. General admission tickets start at $25, "Cartier VIP tickets" are $600 to $1,000, and a lifetime membership is on offer for $100,000. The three-year-old polo cup's Web site says it has been "patroned every year by the President of the United States."

But many sponsors listed by America's Cup for 2010 -- including Land Rover, Cartier, the St. Regis Hotel in Washington and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. -- say they are not sponsors for that event. Many vendors in previous years said in interviews that the Salahis have not paid for their services in the event's three-year history, expenses totaling about $500,000. Many have filed lawsuits, and the couple has countersued often. And there is no record of any president attending any of the polo cups...

FBI Blogger Called For Assassination Of Obama

The FBI's $15,000 per month blogger, white supremacist Hal Turner, called for the assassination of America's first black President, Barack Obama. Yet, the FBI continued to use his services, until he was arrested for calling for the deaths of sitting judges. Now that's what I call astonishingly poor judgment on the FBI's part.

Whatever happened to building cases the old fashioned way. Having a person go undercover to infiltrate a dangerous criminal organization or hate group and surreptitiously recording and or videotaping unlawful conduct being waged by the surveillance targets.

First it comes out Turner, while on the FBI's payroll, also known as taxpayer money, called for the death of a black Congress woman. Then we found out he publicly called for the deaths of three judges. Now we learn he publicly called for the assassination of the nation's first black President.

Crimes aside and the horrific outcomes that could have occurred (see the FBI's failures regarding Fort Hood) does the FBI not think of the sheer offense and anger it causes minorities, when people such as Turner make these hateful claims publicly.

It reopens old slavery and civil rights era wounds. It is not a pleasant thing to read about or hear on the radio. Yet you encouraged this lunacy, to ferret out criminals, trying to make arrest quotas you set. How extremely insensitive. It proves once again, the FBI could care less about black people.

December 1, 2009 - A remarkable American phenomenon is the popularity and financial success of ultraconservative commentators who rage on radio, television and the Internet.

Now, a national spotlight is shining on one of them: Hal Turner of New Jersey, who earned $15,000 a month by calling for lynching of blacks, assassination of President Obama and murder of judges who upheld a ban on pistols. He's on trial this week for the latter threat.

Incredibly, the FBI also paid Turner perhaps $100,000 as a secret informant about far-right extremist groups such as the neo-Nazi National Alliance, based in Pocahontas County. He came to West Virginia to meet leaders of the "hate group." The Bergen Record newspaper discovered his double life as an FBI snitch, and printed this report Sunday...

Jamie Grubbs, the woman that alleges she had a 31-month affair with golfer Tiger Woods, which contained 20 sexual encounters, has vindictively sold and released a voice mail message from the athlete, seeking money and fame.

The voice mail message contains audio of Woods asking her to change the name setting on her phone, as his wife checked it, saw her name and became upset, suspecting an affair.

Grubbs did not have to release the voice mail message or sell her story, as it is undoubtedly hurting his family. She should not be made into a celebrity over what is unkind conduct. Fame should be earned, not stolen.

Seeking some of the attention the case has garnered, another woman, located in Las Vegas, named Kalika, has come forward alleging a 7-month affair with Woods as well.

Woods released a statement on his website today, apologizing for his transgressions in the aforementioned matters. I hope Woods' family will be able to work things out, with he and his wife remaining married, taking care of their children. Do not let this scandal get the best of you.

By Tiger Woods 12/02/2009 - I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.

But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.

Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult.

I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

Pleasure P Accused Of Child Molestation

Does the P in "Pleasure P" stand for pedophile. That's what people are asking today. Someone purporting to be the daughter of a Miami lawyer, has spoken out on a Twitter page, claiming Pleasure P, an ousted member of the Warner Bros. group Pretty Ricky, was convicted of child molestation in 2006, which lead to him being forced out of the quartet.

"AGoldsteinGirl" stated her dad is owed a large sum of money for representing Pleasure P, in keeping the alleged misdeeds he was convicted of, out of the public eye, enabling him to get another record deal. Ironically, he is currently on tour with pedophile singer, R Kelly, who was married to the late singer Aaliyah, when she was 15 and he 27.

The Judiciary Report did an online search of the judge's name/signature that appears on the leaked document and there are other unrelated documents online signed by a judge "Andrew L. Siegel" of the Broward County Circuit Court in South Florida. However, the Broward County Court website revealed no record of the case, which "Spectacular" of Pretty Ricky referred to as "sealed."

This is just sad. Hollyweird indeed.

Coach Indicted Over Hidden Camera In Locker Room

A sexually depraved high school hockey coach, Robert Bopp, installed a perverse hidden camera and criminally videotaped under 18 athletes, while they changed their clothes in the locker room. It is illegal to videotape people via hidden cameras. The crime is compounded with additional charges, if a minor is involved.

To surreptitiously spy on, videotape and or photograph people in states of undress, denotes serious mental illness and sexual dysfunction. It is sick. These hidden camera cases are very disturbing, as it illustrates some in society are perversely abusing technology at other people's expense, in a manner that is unthinkable. Congress needs to enact new national laws to protect the public from predators.

Grosse Pointe ex-coach in porn case taped players

School district lawyer says he used camera in boys locker room

Last Updated: December 01. 2009 2:32PM - Grosse Pointe -- A former state champion high school hockey coach who recently pleaded guilty to child pornography charges secretly taped his players in the locker room last season, according to the school district's lawyer.

On at least two occasions, Robert Bopp, who coached the Grosse Pointe South High School hockey team for 17 years, used a camera in the locker room after practice to tape his players as they changed clothes.

Grosse Pointe school officials found out about the tapings in August from the FBI, which found the tapes in a search of Bopp's Taylor home. The FBI asked the district not to notify players and their parents until their investigation was complete.

Letters were sent home to roughly 20 players and their parents about two weeks ago.

In the letter, school board President Alice Kosinski called Bopp's actions "reprehensible" and said the district "deeply regrets" players were violated in such a way.

"We wanted to contact the kids and parents involved (shortly after the district found out) and were asked not to because they (the FBI) didn't want to compromise the investigation," said Mark McInerney, the district's general counsel. " ... Had it been our choice, we would've notified them sooner."

Bopp, who led the Grosse Pointe South hockey team to a state championship in 2007, faces at least 15 years in prison after pleading guilty Nov. 19 to two counts of producing child pornography and one count of attempting to produce child pornography.

Earlier this summer, a 17-year-old boy testified during a preliminary exam that Bopp had paid him when he was 14 to have oral sex with another man, which Bopp videotaped. The man was identified as James McBee, 20, of Highland Township, who also was charged in the case.

"In 2008 in Taylor, I videotaped a sexual act performed by ... a minor," Bopp told a federal judge during the Nov. 19 hearing...

Matt Lauer, a television host famous for unraveling mentally disturbed actor and Scientologist, Tom Cruise, interviewed White House party crashers, Michaele Salahi and Tareq Salahi, on his program today.

During the interview, Lauer questioned the tight lipped couple about a story involving them crashing a September 26, 2009 Congressional Black Caucus dinner, which they were uninvited to and escorted off the premises.

The stories that have surfaced since this scandal erupted suggest, the couple has a habit of crashing events and posing as things they are not. The White House and Pentagon maintain, the Salahis were not invited to President Obama's first state dinner last week and as such, crashed the party. Obama has expressed concern at the incident, as it breached his security.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 1, 2009 - E-mails between the so-called state dinner crashers and a Pentagon official indicate the official was trying to get them in to the White House event, but did not succeed, according to the email chain obtained by ABC News.

In the emails, Pentagon official Michele S. Jones told Tareq and Michaele Salahi that she was trying to get them access to the White House grounds, but never said she had received approval, contradicting the couple's claim today that they had emails proving they had been invited to the Nov. 24 gala.

Appearing on NBC's "Today," the couple said they had been invited and were confident they could prove it...

The emails support what White House officials said today, when they reiterated to ABC News that the Salahis were not invited, and back up Jones, special assistant to the Secretary of Defense, who flatly denied the Salahis' claim...

"What concerns me the most is that someone was able to walk in off the street to a White House event, without the proper credentials, without the proper vetting, and get next to the president," said Bennie Thompson, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee...
