Rio, Brazil Wins Olympic Bid

Rio, Brazil has won the 2016 Olympic bid, beating out stiff competition from such cities as Chicago, Illinois in the United States, Madrid, Spain and Tokyo, Japan. Brazilians celebrated the win, as the Olympic games have never been held in South America before. Congrats to Brazil. The 2012 Olympics will be held in the lovely city of London.

There was massive shock today at the city of Chicago, Illinois, being eliminated and in the first round, as a choice to host the 2016 Olympics, with Rio, Brazil winning the bid.

Many mainstream newspapers are attributing it to anti-American sentiment in the world, which is an accurate assumption.

Chicago is a great city, full of great people, with lots of wonderful architecture and much to see and do, but the damage the Bush administration has wrought in the world, is still fresh in many people’s minds.

The wars raging in the Middle East, Guantanamo prison abuses, Patriot Act abuses that have foreigners concerned about coming to the States, believing they can be summarily investigated and spied on with their privacy invaded, wiretapped, bugged and followed, coupled with other scandals such as the global economic downturn that began in Corporate America (with offshoots such as Bernard Madoff and R. Allen Stanford) the Erin Andrews hotel hidden camera case and others of the same nature, to do with invasion of privacy, such as the ongoing Hollywood wiretap scandals (Pellicano and others) has left the world dismayed and very concerned. People are literally scared to come to America.

The conduct Bush engaged in and the precedents he set, is not the America the world grew to know and love and it is scaring people all over the world.

The Judiciary Report believes it is not an international rejection of the American people, but of the U.S. government.

Many governments and entities in the world, cannot stomach what the U.S. government has done abroad and at home, committing and permitting acts that broke domestic and international law. Then again, everyday Americans can’t stomach what the government has done either.

Support for abortion has diminished under the Obama administration, which is ironically pro-abortion. Human life is precious. Abortion destroys that on so many levels, decreasing the population as well.

Posted Thursday, Oct. 01, 2009 - The percentage of Americans who support abortion rights has slipped since last year, and opinion on the issue is now evenly divided, according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press.

That’s a change from 2007 and 2008, when supporters of legal abortion "clearly outnumbered" opponents, according to a Pew news release. Four in 10 Americans now say they favor making it more difficult to obtain an abortion, up 6 percentage points from 35 percent in 2007.

Fifty percent oppose making it harder, down 6 points from the earlier survey.

The percentage of those who say abortion should be illegal in all or most cases rose 4 percentage points since last year to 45 percent.

Those who say it should be legal declined 7 points to 47 percent.

The shift is largely along partisan lines, the poll found. Among Republicans, there’s been a 7-point decline in support for abortion rights and a 6-point increase in opposition...

David Letterman Target Of Extortion Attempt

Hypersexual, adulterous talk show host David Letterman was the target of a $2,000,000 extortion plot, by a fellow CBS employee, Robert Halderman, who has pled not guilty to charges of grand theft larceny.

Halderman has been the producer of the CBS program “48 Hours Mystery” for the past 27-years. The network suspended him pending the criminal case.

For some reason, he needed to make a large amount of money in a relatively short space of time and saw Letterman as the method to do so.

Apparently, Robert Halderman, anonymously demanded $2,000,000 from Letterman to keep quiet about his affairs with members of his staff. Yes, that would be embarrassing for the women involved.

Halderman, who threatened to write a screenplay about Letterman's extramarital affairs, if the comedian didn't pay up, faces 15-years in prison.

Are you guys sure you have the right guy and it wasn’t comedian Jay Leno. You know how those celebrity rivalries can be (joking).

Will David Letterman's very public revelation of a new, very human flaw bring him closer to viewers, or will it cloud him in cliche showbiz debauchery?

That was the question many were debating Friday, the day after the CBS "Late Show" host revealed to his audience that he had sexual relationships with female employees and had been the victim of an extortion attempt to keep that information private.

Letterman unraveled the sordid story his way Thursday night, with humor, honesty and self-effacement. He may have endeared himself to some fans, but his likeability has been thrown into jeopardy. Reaction poured in Friday across the Web.

In the comments sections of YouTube videos, the dialogue was two-sided as some came to Letterman's defense, while others were critical of him.

Various jokes used Letterman's production company for a pun: "Dave, keep your `World Wide Pants' on." Some called him a "pervert." Others applauded Letterman for taking responsibility and "manning-up" to the alleged extortionist.

Similar lines were drawn on Twitter, where Letterman was one of the most tweeted-about subjects. He evoked both sympathy and disgust.

Referring to Thursday's studio audience, which laughed through parts of Letterman's somewhat comical telling of the story, New York Times columnist David Carr tweeted: "Aw, now Letterman is his own punchline. Yuck."...

Number One Spot Too Far For Mariah Carey

Hits Daily Double has announced, the band Paramore, extended their lead for the number one spot on the Billboard charts next week, besting Mariah Carey "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" by 30,000 copies.

Carey's latest flop is reminiscent of the career tanking bomb that was "Glitter" spawning the song "Never Too Far"

Currently, Paramore, who has done work for the "Twilight" movie soundtrack, is projected to sell 190,000 copies for the week. Carey is projected to sell 160,000. Her last CD "E=MC2" sold more than double that amount during its first week of release.

The new numbers are reminiscent of the flop that was her 2001 "Glitter" album, which sold 110,000 copies in the first week of release and sent her to the psych ward after a suicide attempt.

Contrary to what some might think, her falling sales, has nothing to do with her turning 40 soon. People aren’t supporting Carey for other reasons.

The lackluster, unoriginal "Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel" has bred imperfect sales, making it one of her worst selling albums to date.

Looks like Mariah is joining Madonna on the musical scrap heap, as the latter is on track to sell between 60-67,000 copies this week.

We've learned Alexsandra Wright filed the case in L.A. County Superior Court. Wright lives in L.A. -- she works in the name-branding business. We're told she's in her late 30s.

Wright, who is 6-months pregnant, filed the case last week, alleges Knowles is the father. Sources say Wright is repped by Neal Hersh, who is currently repping Lamar Odom in the prenup negotiations with Khloe Kardashian.

Mathew has been married to Tina Knowles since 1980. Mathew could not be immediately reached for comment. Ditto Neal Hersh.

The discovery that Countrywide Financial Corp. recorded phone conversations with borrowers in a controversial mortgage program that included public officials -- and that those recordings have been destroyed -- has prompted new congressional calls for more information about the program.

Rep. Darrell Issa of California, the ranking Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is trying to subpoena the remaining records of Countrywide's VIP loan program. So far, the committee's chairman, New York Democratic Rep. Edolphus Towns, has turned down that request.
