Today, U.S. President Barack Obama, holding a press conference at the White House, in Washington, D.C., expressed that he is heartened by the national jobs report, which reflected a decline in layoffs, for the month of July 2009, during the current economic crisis.
While the President did emphasize America is not out of the woods yet, he was nonetheless happy with the latest report.

Excessive Force
A police woman inappropriately slammed an 87-year-old woman on the ground in a parking lot, creating a terrible head injury, with blood pouring from it.
The disoriented, elderly woman, who bears the signs of dementia and separately walks with a cane, was slowly wandering in the parking lot, with a small knife in her hand. When the police woman screamed at her to drop the knife,
The police woman then abruptly twisted her arm and slammed her to the ground, creating the terrible head wound. Her frantic daughter rushed to her side and began yelling in horror.
At the police academy, they should play this footage during the "what not to do" session, as this violent incident was completely unnecessary and constitutes excessive force.
The policewoman should be sued and face disciplinary action. She exhibited very poor judgment in accosting an 87-year-old lady that walks with a cane, in such a violent manner.
Judging by the angle the woman hit the concrete and the amount of blood shed, she most likely created some form of brain trauma in the elderly lady that may not be apparent at first.

Professor S. Allen Counter, who is also director of the Harvard Foundation, told the Bay State Banner that it's another example of how police use the power of their badge to try to "criminalize African-Americans." They seem to "delight" in branding black professionals as criminals, Counter said.
“I feel this is a case of racial and criminal harassment on the part of police,’’ he told the Boston Globe.
He was arrested three years ago after his former wife accused him of assaulting their 17-year-old daughter. He was found not guilty. A police officer "baited him" to come out of his home, then arrested him.

A leaked toxicology report for the late singer, Michael Jackson, who died under suspicious circumstances, reveals the drug Propofol and several other strong anti-depressants, such as Xanax, were in his system at the time of death.
The Sun Newspaper and TMZ reported Demerol played a role in his death, but there has been no mention as of yet, that he was taking Demerol again at the time of his death.

Aug 7 11:40 AM US/Eastern - LOS ANGELES (AP) - Hours before Michael Jackson's death, his doctor administered multiple sedatives along with a powerful anesthetic the pop star used to sleep, according to a law enforcement official. It's a safe combination if done properly; potentially lethal if not.
The official said the type of sedatives Dr. Conrad Murray gave Jackson were benzodiazepines, often used to calm patients before surgery. Murray told investigators the doses were within normal medical guidelines, said the official, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.
Even at acceptable levels, benzodiazepines can intensify how the anesthetic propofol depresses breathing, so strict monitoring and careful dosing is required. The balance can be tricky, a slip-up disastrous...
As investigators build their case, a central issue is what drugs were in Jackson's system when he died. The official said preliminary toxicology tests detected the propofol, a drug normally used to render patients unconscious for medical procedures but that Jackson used as a sleep aid.
Further analysis will determine whether other drugs were present and in what quantity, allowing the coroner to conclude whether they contributed to the death...

Today 11:57 AM PDT - If Michael Jackson's death was caused by drugs—and at this point, that's a virtually nonexistent if—AEG may not be able to recoup one penny of the $17.5 million life insurance policy it took out on the star in the run-up to his London comeback.
According to the documents, released to the Los Angeles Times in an attempt to silence some of the misinformation swirling about the terms, the policy would only be paid out if Jackson's death was proved to be accidental and occurred after the completion of a second physical.

While he passed his first physical in February, Jackson never got the chance to complete a second. And the accidental death thing? Only applicable in the event that drugs were not involved.

Hollywood pitch man, Billy Mays, who died last month, had a death wish. Not only did he suffer from untreated hypertension, which created heart problems, he was on a slew of anti-depressants and cocaine.
His family issued a statement on the report:
"We are extremely disappointed by the press release released by the Hillsborough County medical examiner's office. We believe it contains speculative conclusions that are frankly unnecessary and tend to obscure the conclusion that Billy suffered from chronic, untreated hypertension, which only demonstrates how important it is to regularly monitor one's health.
Given the hectic nature and pace of Billy's life, especially during the past 10 months of his exhaustive travel across the country, it was not surprising to hear that hypertension was the cause of his death. We were totally unaware of any non prescription drug usage and are actively considering an independent evaluation of the autopsy results."

An autopsy shows that cocaine contributed to the heart disease that suddenly killed TV infomercial pitchman Billy Mays in June, according to officials.

Madonna cancels Slovenia gig, media cite sales
Fri Aug 7, 2009 6:42am EDT - LJUBLJANA (Reuters) - Pop star Madonna has canceled her concert in Ljubljana, Slovenia scheduled for August 20, the tour manager said on Friday.
Local media cited poor ticket sales as the main factor, although promoters denied this was the reason.
It is the second concert Madonna has canceled since July. A performance in the southern French town of Marseille was scrapped after the stage being built for it collapsed, killing two workers.
"The reason for the cancellation is unforeseen logistical difficulties," said Laszlo Borsos, managing director of Live Nation in Budapest, overseeing Madonna's tour in eastern Europe.
"There is no problem with ticket sales, absolutely."
Slovenian media reported the concert had to be canceled as promoters had sold only 7,000 of a planned 63,000 tickets in a city with a population of 250,000...

President Obama's first pick for the Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor, has been confirmed. Her appointment is an historic one, as she is the first Hispanic woman on the High Court. There is such a large, taxpaying, Hispanic population in America, I'm surprised the Supreme Court did not reflect the nation's cultural make-up sooner.
Sotomayor's parents are Puerto Rican immigrants, who moved to the Bronx in New York city. Congrats to her. Hopefully, she will add some integrity to the court, as the current class sorely lacks it, costing America dearly in a number of pivotal decisions that went very awry and in front of the watching nation and world, who were left puzzled and dismayed.

According to a Quinnipiac poll, President Barack Obama's approval ratings have fallen to 50 percent. Once again, it is the risky government spending driving the nervousness.
Respectfully, Obama, this is a time for the government to save in most sectors, not spend. Time to put the brakes on the national spending for a while.

Recently it was reported, Jackson's last physician, Conrad Murray, administered the hospital only drug to him, Propofol, which is dangerous in a casual setting, as if done incorrectly, it can lead to cardiac arrest and death.
Additional reports now state, Jackson woke up from the heavy slumber, requested Demerol for his pain from a personal assistant, which interacted poorly with the Propofol.
